So I flagged this quest and had it ready way back 2005... lol
I never really got around to finishing it since I never leveled my BLM.
adfter 3-4 years of having this silly quest flagged, I was in the boyahda tree skilling up when someone in our skill up group says "hey can we kill this real quick? I need to get a scroll for BLM" so we kill it and I check the ??? for ***** and giggles and BAM! CS and stuffs.
I'm like "WTF is this?" I looked it up and laughed rather hard. what's more is it compelled me to level my BLM. hurray. I now have another 75 job.

SummaryA "moondrop" from the Boyahda Tree is required to open the chest Ilumida's late husband left for her. WalkthroughIn order to be granted this quest, you need to have completed at least the following six quests
Once you have done these, speak to Kurou-Morou and see a cut scene where he explains his romantic predicament. After that speak to Ilumida and you will get another cutscene. Turns out, Ilumida wants a Drop of the Moon (key item). If you talk to Kurou-Morou afterwords, you will be told the Drop of the Moon is in Boyahda Tree. Journey to The Boyahda tree and examine a ??? at H-8 in 2nd map of The Boyahda Tree between 20:00 and 03:00. This will pop an Ahriman NM called Agas. Kill it and examine ??? again to get Key Item. NOTE: This does not work during a new moon, as the moon has to be visible. If you summon and kill Agas, but do not get to the ??? before 03:00, it will disappear. However, you will be able to get it the next night by clicking the ??? after 20:00. This will not summon Agas again, but you cannot zone before you do this, or you will summon Agas. The area around the ??? is full of mobs which aggro above 70, so make sure you've cleared the area before. Agas himself can use AoE Petrify as well as Sleepga, so be prepared some poison potions with WHM with Stona. Generally speaking, a level 70 party should be able to handle Agas, if you clear it beforehand to avoid links. To be sure, take two parties to cover your bases. You can Sneak touch the ???, but it will not aggro you until you pull it in that case. Once you've acquired the key item, return to Jeuno. Talk to Ilumida and Kurou-Morou to complete quest . The reward is 3000 gil and a Scroll: Sleepga II. Quest Series

My ls helped me to finish off this quest. I first clicked on ??? and it said there is nothing our of ordinary. I was thinking of crap my ls is gonna hate me. I clicked on the ??? desperately again. Somehow, the nm pop. Phew! We killed it w/o any difficulty. Clicked on ??? again to get a short cs. Got the reward after watching cs at jeuno. ^^

I got the quest, beat agas and I can't get the key item. When I click the ??? after beating him it just said, "You can't see the moon". Do you have to beat him in a certain time period? I also heard you have to click the ??? during a full moon to get the key item. Is that true?
Edit: I finally got it. All I had to do was go back during 2000-0300 and click the ??? again. What confused me was that ffxiwikia, this site, and killing ifrit, all have different info on the quest. Killing ifrit claims that you have to wait for a full moon to check the ???. That's wrong. This site claims you can't zone out or you'll have to fight agas again. That's wrong.

Ok got the quest to day, and for those of u who keep asking what lvl fame is needed, ur lucky day has come (lol). You need lvl 6 fame in jeuno in order to get the quest, my self have encountered the same problem when u come to this site, try to look for the fame lvl, and everyone talks about their fight with AGAS. Well just cut the s**t out an say that the LVL FAME NEEDED IS LVL 6 IN JEUNO.

Ok, I did all the stupid quests and now, for some reason, I CAN'T START THE SLEEPGA2 QUEST!!! WHY NOT?!

Owned Agas no problem. Stun took care of aga 3 and level 5 petrify, which made for a nice short fight.

Just wanted to confirm.
A few of us beat the NM, it was about 3:55 and everyone clicked and got item.
I forgot to click straight away and just got a "You cannot see the moon" sort of message.
Then was Warp 2'd back to Whitegate by our BLM.
I went back to the tree, used re-raise and has warp ready just incase, and when it went 20:00 i hit the ??? and got the CS and item.

Had the 6 prerequist quests done for weeks now. Finally got help with fight:
75 RDM
75 WAR
75 WHM
73 BLU
73 BRD (me)
68 PLD
66 BLM
Needless to say with this setup was total overkill. No one droped to half health not even the 68 pld that helped tank. Though the whm was vital to us. it aoe petrafied us near the end. We had 6 in game hours to kill waiting for 20:00. So we tried to clear crabs out but there was a party exping off of them, so we killed some in the back to raise TP. We SC it right off the bat with 300% tp and MB to boot. Dead in less than a min.
Killed it on 24% Waxing moon, everyone grabbed keyitem right after fight.

Illumida is actually spelled Ilumida.. Poster put an extra l in there.. not that it really matters.. It's the same old lady from the Candle quests.

In September, 2005, I finally finished all the prerequisite quests. I gathered some friends together, and we headed out to the Boyahda Tree to fight the mighty Agas. We took him down, but dawn had passed before he was defeated, so I had to wait til nightfall to get the key item. Having diligently read the allakhazam guide, we knew not to zone, so we decided to spend our time skilling up on steelshells. This is where my misfortune began. In the middle of a fight, I accidentally changed macro sets and hit an old warp macro that I had created for one of the many dangerous situations I get myself into. Imagine my dismay as I found myself in Lower Jeuno without my moondrop! With my knowledge that I would have to fight Agas again, I was discouraged and put off the task til later...
...fast forward 1 RL year...
My linkshell is making its way thru Boyahda Tree and into Dragon's Aery to do battle with Fafnir. I realize that we are quite early, so I ask some of them to aid me in a rematch with Agas. Eventually, a couple LS members and I made our way to the central island, and we prepared for battle. We cast our buffs and took a deep breath, as we anticipated the coming battle when I hit the ???. However, there was no battle. The moment I touched the ???, I got a short cutscene and the moondrop was now among my key items. Needless to say, this was a moment of hilarity for the entire linkshell. I had waited an entire year to get the key item after killing Agas. I quickly warped to Al Zahbi, ported to jeuno, and claimed my prize. Then, I made my way to Dragon's Aery, and in the presence of all these other lvl 75s, while wearing my Sorcerer's Petasos, Nashira Crackows, and Zenith Mitts, this happened:
*Pablomaldito uses a Scroll of Sleepga II
*Pablomaldito learns a new spell!
So yeah, I can say with absolute certainty that you can indeed zone after killing Agas.

Just soloed this last night as 75 Bst/Whm took roughly 30 minutes of kiting. I had just dinged 75 and within 2 minutes got a tell from a 63 blm who heard that a 75 bst could solo Agas lol. So I agreeded. Agas was almost dead when the blm grabed gobbue argo and ended up dead. If anyone was wondering I raised him after the fight and he had no problem getting the key item, so if you die it doesn't matter as long as the rest of your party finishes off the mob (just don't zone). I just kept stoneskin and blink up the whole time between pet swaps, used a macro /pet "Fight" <scan> so I could jam it whenever argas was coming near. Blm tryed to stay away but wanted to throw a couple of bio's and poisons on, but they were more trouble then they were worth. A pretty easy fight, just don't get hit lol.

ok i am a little confused about this time spawn and all that. i have ppl ready to fight this NM but they cant go intill i find out a time or even if it has a ToD. please respond to this post it is confusing to me.

It's a pop mob... it has no ToD, you go and pop it and kill it.

OK, I can say that we were able to check the ??? the next night and get the Moondrop. I don't know about logging out and/or leaving the zone, but I DCed while waiting, came back, waited until 2000 and got the Moondrop. I think we must've fought it during a new moon. <.<
Our who experience was pretty weird so I'll tell it:
We had:
PLD 75
SAM 75
BST 75
BLM 66
BLM 61
BLM 60 (me; Draidin)
We tried to let the BST's mob get some hate and then we started attacking. I don't know WTF went wrong. BLM 66 went down, PLD almost died, BLM 61 went down, and the PLD went down. In all the chaos we lost the claim somehow and a PT of three grabbed it. We formed an alliance with them and mostly the BST's mobs killed it. Looking back we should've just let the BST's mobs kill it. :P
Anyway, I wanted to tell that we lost the claim and the formed an alliance B/C that might be important information to someone. It's late now and everyone has logged off so I'll update this if/when I find out how the other PT got the claim. FWIW we did not call for help - the Agas' name turned to magenta. :O

just thought i'd let everyone know, this mob can not be stunned, and the ??? stays after 3:00 we killed mob and the ??? stayed til way afer 5:00
Who knows if it ever worked, but it does not work now. I went out to the tree, popped reraise. Let him toast me and then I waited for him to despawn.
After he faded I checked the ??? again and just got a message 'You can see the sky from here'. This was at 2:07 so it was still within time.
I checked it again around 3:15 to check the message again to see if it changed. He repopped and killed me. So, the 3:00 time doesn't seem right either.

Posted: Jun 09 2006 at 3:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I found out an easy way to do this. If you're unable to find any help, pop yourself a reraise bottle and spawn him. Let him kill you. In a few mins, he will despawn, reraise, check it again and bam, you're done.
ive done all the prereqs, capped fame in jeuno, i think i may have gotten the CS but cant quite remember, however, the quest is not in my log, completed or current and i had to find that out the hard way; kill agas and not get the key item... any ideas? (please) (help me out)
OMFG SE hates blm ><. This sounds like the biggest pain in the *** to do, even more then D2
are you serious? you can ******* manaburn everything, try being a melee then come talk to me. so you have 1 hard quest to get a good spell, you could still buy it if you wanted. you cant buy invites. stfu

As per an experiment I just did, I would like to point out two errors with this info.
#1 - The NM can be popped after 3:00, I just popped it at 3:47.
#2 - It cannot be Sneak popped, as soon as you pop it, it aggros.
