Mission Orders

Princess Claidie will soon celebrate her coming-of-age, and the court in Chateau d'Oraguille needs help with the ceremonies. Speak to Monarlais Halver and offer your assistance.

Walkthrough

After talking to the gate guard, he will send you to Halver. Halver directs you to Quicksand Caves (enter through Eastern Altepa Desert G-9). Upon entering, head west to D-9 and turn south. You will enter a rough-hewn cave with a quicksand pit at E-11. Standing on this for a few seconds, and you will fall through. Take the first left you come to, and you will reach an underground lake.

When you click on the Fountain of Kings, two NM Kraken models will appear. Honor (the smaller one) casts paralyzega, silencega, blindga so be very careful; it's recommended to pull him away from Valor (the larger one). Valor is a monk: he uses Hundred Fists and hits hard but inaccurately. A party of 12 adventurers, Level 64-66 is recommended although a party of 10 with a high level tank should be able to take them out. After the battle, click on the Fountain of Kings again to receive the key item. Go back to Halver to turn in the key item. This will mark the mission as complete in your mission log, although you can't start 8-2 yet.

At this point, you will have to wait until after midnight JST. Once you do that, zoning into Northern San d'Oria will grant you a long cut scene. Once this cut scene is complete, the mission is truly over. You can not start 8-2 until after you have seen the cut scene.

I just solo'd this 75 RDM/WAR. It was easy.

I geared def/vit/-physdmg ate a Tavnazian Taco and used defender. I snk pulled Valor away from Honor, and went to town on him. His hundred fists wasn't much, he did keep ss down though and beat me into the orange before I was able to bind and run away, but after i got ss and cured up, it was smooth sailing.

I didn't need to convert and the whole thing took maybe 10 minutes. Joyeuse VB spam ftw!

Going into the fight, with food on and all buffed up, I had 570+ def 35 vit and 10% -physdmg (no genbu's yet.... but soon^^)

All in all, this was slightly harder than mission 7-1 or whatever, with the Orc mnk. Valor hit a bit harder, and was much more accurate.

For those wondering, EASILY soloable by SMN75. Sneak pull the monk (no need to worry about paralizega or silenga) and just throw a few fenrirs at it. Used a Chaotic Strike to finish it off because kiting it was boring. :) Other one de-popped during the fight, key item done!

Didn't time it, but I'd say 1/2 as long as kiting a prime avatar. Maybe 10 minutes long?

2smn(me),1sam,1pld. 75.

Was going to solo this like you said, with a plan, just to help out some LS members. Turns out, they asked me for help because they were already fighting it!

I don't know how they did it, but when I arrived, one of the teammates, 75 PLD, was dead and raised to invite me to the pt to help them. Apparently, something went wrong. I zone in find out where I need to be, and I see the other SMN carby kiting it back and forth. Looked like they weren't prepared and they jumped right in. Who can blame them though? When I see a NM I usually do the same thing. XD

While the other SMN was fighting Valor with Carby, I summoned Garuda and did Predator Claws followed by Astral Flow followed by Aerial Armor. 1189 damage on Valor with Predator Claws. I guess they had all died except the other SMN when they asked for my help. I was more then happy to assist. They plan on getting Rank 10 tomorrow.

Take it easy guys.

I told the thief to kite the big one while we killed the little one.

But, when I popped the NMs, the thief just stood there and I got whomped to death. The melees 2-houred and destroyed the little one in like a minute.

After that, hundred fists killed the war, so PLD used invincible, and they finished beating the big one to death.

Note: You can get the key item even if you die, as long as you don't zone.
Take it seriously...

Just did this last night. Party of 4. 2 RDM, NIN (me), and THF. Original plan was to pop them and the THF and I each solo one. Well, the little one popped with Silencga to start an I was the only person with echo drops... Valor gets down the about 30%, Hundred Fists, and kills me and pretty much wipes us. The 2nd RDM as able to escape to come back to raise us for attempt number 2. One RDM changed to WHM sub, I gave echo's to every person and we popped them again.

I voked Valor, RDM/WHM ran Honor off and binded it in the tunnel. When it comes back, the THF then egages it while I keep on Valor. He Hundred Fists this time and I run it off and get a gravity from a RDM while I burn it off. The THF just died to Paralyze and Silence so the other RDM keeps it busy while I finish Valor. Kill him, engage the small one, mission over.

If you do this with a small group like this, I would recommend popping them and running to the zone following the left wall. Zone out, and try to claim Valor solo and finish him while the other despawns. Gravity was nice on Hundred Fists because even with 294 evasion skill, he still had decent accuracy.

Moral of the story is bring some /WHM people and lot's of echo drops.
Weird...

First time we couldn't figure out how to pull them. Ranged attacks and spells and job abilities couldn't target them. So we drop sneak and pull them both: and got crushed. Paralyga was a ***** and screwed us over.

So we raise up, dust off our clothes and round two. This time I edge my way towards one side slowly and pull the little one. We own him in a matter of moments with a nice darkness SC. By the time that's done and I've Blinked and Stoneskined for the second, he's depopped: no key item. So we're all "wtf?" and I zone out and in again to see if I can respawn them, which I can't. But when we're clearing the room five minutes later, I respawn them.

Bring the little one over, we kill him, I go to kite the big one with Blink and Stoneskin, but he despawns just as I get there. Examine the fountain and got key item.

What the hell's all that about?

After dusting the Orcs for 7-2, we decided to make a quick run at this mission. Our setup was this:

Pld69/War34 (Tyreewere - Me)
Whm69/Blm34 (Meowphttphtt)
Blm70/Whm35 (Shigaru)
Sam73/Thf36 (Azimov)
Bst75/Whm37 (Fireman)

Walked into the area of the lake, cleared the room to build TP, then I snuck up and spawned the NMs. I flashed Valor, but for some reason I kept getting an "Unable to See Target" message. >.> Fireman came up with his Carrie and it still took us a good minute before we finally got Valor to attack. (Some sort of game glitch maybe?)

Anyway, this fight was over before I got my 2nd Provoke off. Azimov and I SC'd Darkness, which Shigaru followed for a MB. Valor started to use Hundred Fists on me, so I popped my 2hr. He got in all of 3 hits before he was dead. Kind of a waste, but what the heck. lol Easiest fight Meowphttphtt ever had to heal for. :)

Now to wait for Jp Midnight to make our way to the Tonberries. {Too weak}

Another successful Mission for IfritsEmbers

I just solo'd this as a 74NIN/WHM. Easy enough, I used silent oil, and had AF boots on (obviously this places the time frame at night). I then popped the Krakens, and went to the far right corner of the pool. I cast Jubaku: Ichi on Honor, but for some reason Valor was the one that went red to me. No biggy, I turned and hauled butt out of there. Got a few turns around the block and lost Honor, but here comes Valor. Easy enough fight with /whm. Bring Yags up though. Anyway, he takes a little while, but when he two-hour'd I just turned and ran back towards the pool. Can we say buh bye two hour? Made sure Honor was depopped and then went in for the kill. 'Nough said.

Full buffed and 300% MightyStrikes Warrior's charge Raging Rush
Honor for 1945 dmg, cleared his hp bar..
other one went down 2 sec later, only echo droped once at very start of fight.
Hundred Fists didnt even get off a hit before death.

Trio Valor
# Sep 19 2006 at 7:06 PM Rating: Decent
I trioed Valor as a 75 RDM/BLM, 75 WHM/BLM, and 70PLD/WAR. Here is how it went down. We got there and killed some mobs to build TP. I was the only one who needed this mission (I am the RDM) so I had to pop it. I put on my buffs and popped them. They popped at the same time and Valor aggro me. The PLD voked him off of me and then the little one aggro me and hit my party with silencega and paralyzega. We wiped and came up with a new strategy: Bring echodrops, also I sneak pop them and run. We HP, regroup and tried again. This time I had sneak on and I popped them. They just sat there in the water and wouldn't aggro me. I had trouble targeting them too for some reason, so I couldn't get Bio off on Valor like I had planned on. Then sneak wore and the fun began. We ran like bats out of hell to the nearest zone with both NM's in tow. We zoned safely and full healed our MP and went back in. Valor was waiting for us but Honor had left and gone back to the pool. Lucky us!!!! We killed Valor without any difficulty and Honor despawned. The Hundred Fist was no trouble for a WHM and a RDM to heal and the PLD took the hits rather well. Valor also missed a lot of his hundred fist hits. Once the hundred fists ran out I chainspell Thunder 3 him to death. The moral of this story is you don't need a full party of 6 to beat this fight, you can duo it or trio it, just be careful how you pull them and memorize where the zone is in case it goes bad.

# Aug 17 2006 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
Just did this as a 75SMN/37WHM... solo =) Took about 15 mins but it was EASY... Honor only hit me 1 once.

Basically sneak, go to the pool.. pop the NMs... they're under the water so u have to stand right at the edge. Have Carbuncle "Assault" Honor since he doesn't use Hundred Fists... and run. Run all the way up the tunnel to the "T" intersection and wait for Carby's name to vanish off ur screen. When it does, immediately resummon.... wash'n'rinse, then repeat.

When it was at 19% health, I summoned Fenrir... all it took at this point was one Eclipse Bite and my mp never dropped below 975 the entire fight ;p

Easy peasy... oh... Valor despawns "DURING" the fight w/ Honor... so if u use this method and u DON"T want to fight the other NM... make sure the other NM despawns DURING the fight w/ the 1st NM. If you kill the 1st NM too quickly and then wait for the other to despawn, you WILL NOT get the key item.

Good luck! ;p

It seems as if S-E has patched this quest. We sneak pulled one of them, and killed it, waited for the other to despawn, and got no item. It seems odd to me.

The second mob must depop WHILE you are battling the first mob. If the first mob is killed first, then you wait for a depop, it counts as no completion.
Solo Method for 75BLM/37RDM
# Apr 11 2006 at 4:18 AM Rating: Decent

I figured I would try this fight as a solo fight on my 75BLM/37RDM. The method is quite simple. One disclaimer... before getting into soloing on BLM I recommend that you invest in some +Enfeebling Skill gear and using your staves in your bind(ice) and gravity(wind) macros.

1. Buff > Protect/Shell II, Stoneskin, Blink, Ice Spikes (I use for paralyze effect). I also recommend a RR2 Hairpin, you can always experience bad luck when soloing (double attack crits for instance) or the "paralyze that never ends".
2. Sneak and trigger the Event. Move Back quite a bit and remove your Sneak. Then edge along the right wall til you aggro Valor.
3. Immediately cast Gravity and run to max spell range. If you did this right Honor will not aggro. These NMs do not link.
4. Cast 3 nukes using the long hallway up to kite. I used Fire, Thunder, and Blizzard IV. This should bring him down to about 50%. He will 2hr and you must cast bind. If you did this right he will still be Gravitied and it will be easy. Run away. When the first bind wears, cast bind again on it. The period between Binds is a good time to rebuff.
5. By now the 2hr should have worn out so cast gravity on him again and nuke him about 3 more times, you might need an extra Drain or so to finish him off. If you need to use Manafont to do so.
6. Sneak and head back to the Fountain. By now the other NM should have despawned and you can collect your key item.

I mainly provide this for any blm that hasn't done alot of soloing and is thinking of giving it a shot. This method works on most unsleepable NMs in the game. Sleepable NMs are trivial for any BLM.

very do-able

This mission is very do-able! After reading the posts here, I too decided to try soloing this mission. I went BST75/WHM37 with CourrierCarrie pets and Zeta biscuits. I brought pamama au lait and 3 yag drinks.
I arrived at the fountain of kings and didn't even bother clearing the room - if you plan to rest in the room, I suggest clearing it first. However, at 75 you will get no aggro from any mobs in the area unless you rest or hit something and get links, lol. I sneaked and popped the nms. Now I had some difficulty pulling Valor - they pop sort of underneath the water, and no matter how hard I tried to pull valor from the front of the pool, I had no success, with pebbles or my pet. I moved to the right side of the pool along the edge and managed to get Valor with my pet. I pulled Valor into the hallway just outside the fountain room to avoid links when i used {Sic}, and went to town. Carrie tanked well and i fought along - I used the yag drinks as needed in order to keep myself buffed with blink and stoneskin. Valor hits hard but Carrie easily kept up with his damage and I did not lag far behind. I pulled hate once when I Rampaged Valor at about 75% health - I simply turned around and let blink and stoneskin absorb a few hits until Carrie got hate back. Soon after Valor 2hr'd, I disengaged and started kiting Valor around until 100 fists wore off. So, regarding the question about how similar Valor is to the sea horror - i found them extremely similar, kiting out the 2hr is how I solo the sea horror. Valor 2hr'd at pretty much exactly 50% hp, Carrie matched that at the start (though I had fed her one biscuit by then). After the two hour Carrie was less than 20% hp - when she died I used local pets until my call timer was ready. My second Carrie easily finished off Valor with my help - all in all a fun fight!
Yag drinks really help and so does my added damage. I can easily see a SMN75 soloing this mission with avatars, no need to wait for call timers. A RDM75 no doubt would have a really fun time soloing this and I would like to watch! Honestly I think anyone with good evasion can handle this nm. I went with Valor because with my limited MP pool it is difficult to deal with a number of status ailments over and over again lol. I've watched one of my best friends solo the sea horror as WHM75/NIN37 and I have no doubt he would be able to handle Valor. Mages can Bind/Gravity for the 2hr and kite. A NIN75 with good evasion gear could also kite the 2hr - with the movement speed+ from nin AF they would easily outrun Valor in the space provided. If you're scared, run to the zone during the 2hr as a previous poster suggested. Go prepared and you can do it! It was a fun fight and I'm proud that I was successful - a number of my 75 friends told me it wasn't going to happen =P. Good luck and I hope this helps. ^^

I solo'd this today as bst75/whm, I used 3 CC with cactuars and worms(lol) to stall it between my last call beast.

There was tons of room to kite it for it's 2 hour, I think he only got in 4 or 5 hits.
3 jugs seems like it would be less hectic than trying to melee all the way through, i only got taken down to half with meleeing on my last jug and a couple hits on pet swaps (111 hit on me every time >< ).

The worst is the regen move which makes it get more HP back when you use local pets(well not worst i guess, but it doesent look good)
Another victory story...

After several months of planning to do this mission with my DRG and PLD friend, i decided today wth, lets try to solo it. So i head to Quicksand Caves with my 75RDM/NIN and to the spawn point for the first time (notice the first time), and i buff up and sneak-pop em. I decided to take on Honor, and when the fight started all seemed to be goin well...until the first Paralyzga. After that i spent pretty much the rest of my time trying to re-up SS and Utsu, and though i didnt go down easy, eventually i fell...luckily wit RR2.

So, Round 2. this time i had an idea of what this guy had to offer, so i went stacked with Echo drops and planned to Flat Blade any Paralyzga's. That failed early as as i was pulling it away from the other it hit me with a Paralyzga. But it wasnt too bad, got my Utsusemi back up before SS went down. The fight went pretty smoothly for the most part early, Enthunder and Shock Spikes went a long way. A lot of the fight was downing Echo drops and recasting NI after a Silencga, with the occasional Flat Blade for Paralyzga. at one point a Cross Cutter ate thru my SS and hit me for 300 or so, and he seemed to go into a GodMode like frenzy around 10%. I had to Bind and convert, recast shadows and haste towards the end, and eventually finished him. Sooooo...

{San d'Oria} {Mission} 8-1 O {Red Mage} {Are you alone?} {Yes, please.} {Impossible to gauge.} XD

Just thought I'd share my story, fun times were had, probably gonna try to solo the other one when my RL friend gets to this mission. Good luck to all who take this on in the future ^^

Managed to solo Valor as BLM/RDM 75.. he has around 6300 HP. Just bound him twice during his 2hr. Sneak pull works, but you need to get really close to the side, since they pop underwater kind of. It took me 3 attempts, wasted 2 reraise charges warping out :(

1st time, my macros were messed up and on instinct I did /heal when casting the wrong spell... 2 cactus tried to get me :O
2nd time, got too close and the mage paralyzed me as I pulled the other.
3rd time, pretty easy, but needed manafont to win. Can't sleep of course, but Bind and Gravity work fine.

Has anyone fought (successfully) the Sea Horror, and also done this battle?

I'm curious as to how these krakens compare to the Sea Horror, in strength and difficulty.

While I can't solo, say, the Lord of Onzozo, I can solo the Sea Horror with ease; so I was considering the idea of making a foolhardy attempt at seeing if I could solo this one.

I just did this with 8 members. 75war/nin, 75mnk, 75rdm, 72sam, 70pld, 66sam (me), 64sam, 62thf eveyone need mission. We all got there and decided to clear room just incase of aggro and linkage. Once the room was cleared rdm rested to full and the 75war went to pop (thinking that we would be able to sleep Valor and kill Honor). Both NM popped pld voked and we proceeded to fight Honor rdm sleep II on Valor sleep failed. rdm went to yellow health then war voked Valor and that time Honor was about dead. Honor took about 20 secs to kill, Valor used 100 fists and we all used our ws, I got hate w/ SA gekko took some hits from 100 fist got in to orange and pld voked me and other sams used our ws again and killed Valor. Total time took about 65 secs. and noone used there 2hr. So with the right pt you can do this with less than 10 ppl in pt. But this was very easy and I was thinking it was going to be hard. If anyone needs help doing this give me(Aaskas) a /tell on Ramuh server.
