Mission Orders

This mission involves the late Queen Leaute. Visit Monarlais Halver in Chateau d'Oraguille to learn more.

Walkthrough

First, accept the mission from the mission guard (you may need to trade crystals to a gate guard in order to build the rank points you need to accept the mission).
Then, proceed to Chateau d'Oraguille and talk to Halver, then enter the audience chambers to receive a cutscene with the king.
Return to Halver and speak to him again, he will ask you to speak to the king again.
Return to the king again and he will ask you to retrieve a key item called a 'Dream Rose' and place it on Queen Leaute's grave per the queen's request. Once you have finished the cutscene:

  • Head to G-7 in Western Altepa Desert. There is an oasis there (shown on the map), and behind the oasis you will be able to target the rose.
  • Targeting the rose will spawn a NM Sabotender, Sabotender Enamorado.
  • Other Sabotenders spawn here rather frequently, so it would behoove you to clear those out before taking on the NM.
  • The NM Sabotender will use 1000 Needles like all Sabotenders, but like other Sabotenders, that damage is spread among all characters and NPCs in the area.
    • It shouldn't be too much trouble to kill this NM with a full party of LV 60 players, but you can have as many people as you wish (the more people you have, the less damage each individual takes from 1000 Needles).
  • Once the NM is dead, examine the rose again to receive the key item that you need.
Return to San d'Oria and talk to Halver, then head to the garden in Chateau d'Oraguille, where you will receive a cutscene.
Select yes at the end of the cutscene.
You will receive a key item (piece of paper), and you will have completed the mission.

just try to do it with my PLD/NIN 75 and i died, from what i saw i need help at least with a full party and make sure to stay over 1000 HP, point blank no matter what job one is it cant be solo it cause "Sabotender" will do (1000 needles) from the start of the fight and as many time as it wants

Can I skip this mission with some Crystals stacks, or by doing a few lower level missions?

Just did this with a level 73 BLM/WHM (me), level 72 PLD/WAR and a level 72 DRG/BLU. Healing Breath III really helps with the 1000 needles spam, and it freed me up a lot more to do some damage. Also had our NPCs with us, and naturally the wyvern to absorb some damage. None of them died.

And yeah, the 1000 needles is certainly not based on TP. He goes nuts with it after only a few hits. Rather annoying, but pet jobs should be able to wreck this guy easily.
PWNED!

wrong alla window, but I triod this guy. war/nin rdm/nin whm/blm all 75. He spams 1k needles if you don't have a good subtle blow setup. Got a little hairy at times but was a straightforward fight.

DRK/RDM or DRK and RDM?
# Nov 05 2007 at 8:33 AM Rating: Decent
I was reading some posts and I had a crazy idea.
I wonder if a RDM/NIN and DRK/NIN 60+ could duo this.
RDM kites the mob, keeps haste on themself and the DRK.
Once the NM starts using 1,000 needles, the DRK could either Stun or Absorb-TP
to prevent the NM spamming his TP move, I don't know if it will work, I'd try but my DRK is 52 and the only RDM I know is 65.
So if anyone is to try this let me know how it goes.

Yup Rdm/Nin solo works fine for this despite some of the arguements I've seen on here.

I've done this mission twice now, once helping a friend, we went SAM WHM and 2NPC buddies and yes, towards the end of the fight it does like to spam 1000 needles like every 5-10 seconds.

Today I did it as Rdm/nin solo for my self, and I can tell you 1000 needles is nothing to worry about, he only uses it if you are close enough. Using Gravity, Bind, Bio II and Poison II and keeping a safe distance the only TP move he will use is that needle shot one which your shadows will safely absorb.

Gravity was never resisted, I used it sparingly after reading he builds resistance, and relied mainly on Bind, keeping haste up to keep the recast timers low, bind worked a treat it stuck everytime, and the duration was pretty nice most of the time. I relied on Bio and poison for most of my damage, I would burn away the rest of my MP with nukes everytime convert was up to speed things up. Total fight took around 30 mins.

Tried to solo this guys as BST71/NIN35. Courier Carrie only lasts a little more than 2 1000 needles. At first I tried to melee with her, but after the first 1000 needles took me down to 800 hp I decided against that. Plus after CC died I had a lot of hate built up and it took a few whacks from the NM to get rid of that. So for the next 25 minutes I would run from pet to pet, charm, fight, run out of range and cast utsu. Local pets are good enough to get a few hits in, but don't last long as he spams 1000 needles. Got it down to 60% then after a long pet swap I lost him, and he went unclaimed and regen'd back up to 90% :( So I start again and get it to about 35% when I get back to back 1000 Needles on pet swaps. I'm going to try again tonight as that was really bad luck.
Smn ftw?

Solo'd as lvl 74 smn last night for someone while i was bored, fairly easy to carby kite it, does a little under half of carby's health with 1,000 needle's... was pathetically easy overall, have a whm with you if you're not good with carby kite and you're set...

I dont think you understand the concept of how RDM solos.
They use en spells aka enthunder and by doing this you dont feed a mob TP.
Which means the NM would never use a TP move aka 1000 Needles.

For an enspell to go off you have to land a hit with a weapon. Unless someone spends all day whacking away with ceremonial dagger, you will feed the mob tp.

Plus this nm just does tp moves when it wants to.

You are incorrect. RDM solo by kiting (gravity n bind) and casting DOT (bioII etc). Using an En spell on your weapon and smackin the mob still gives the mob tp to use its moves. By keeping on BioII/PoisonII, throwin the occasional nuke, and keeping buffs up and using convert wisely, a RDM, regardless of sub (nin works nicely for fast-casting utsu), can very slowly kill a mob, NM or otherwise. Problem with gravity is that the more you use it, the mob builds up a resistance to the spell. One thing i have noticed before while kiting the Orc NM for sandy mission 7-1: if you dont use gravity for a while, and use it later on, it will last pretty well instead of wearing milliseconds after casting it.

you're right and wrong because rdm's also sub nin, use too weak swords and enspell's to deal added effect damage with a 0 dmg hit (capped skill and such) thus no tp build up and shadows/stoneskin/phalanx/debuff yea i hope you get the picture don't assume cuz you know one way of doing something it's the only way

anyone who saids they solo this nm and hardly seen 1000 spikes is full of ****, no such thing as soloing it as a red and as for 1000 spikes, it does it often so i dont know why ppl r *********** about that to make them self look good... get a party and make sure to have back up heal cause this nm 1000 spike can take up to almost 1k damage on u so i suggest nin, nin, wht red and black, dont mater what mage u got as long as u got nin 75 with shadows u be fine....

Wow you are an idiot. First of all, it's 1000 needles not 1000 spikes.

Quote:
as for 1000 spikes, it does it often so i dont know why ppl r bullsh*ting about that to make them self look good...

It CAN'T do it often if you're not giving it TP. If you knew anything about RDM/NIN you would know that they kill mostly with DoT and kiting, which gives the mob very little TP.

Quote:

1000 needles only deals 1000 damage if you're the only person around...

Shadows don't absorb 1000 needles. Just like shadows don't absorb ANY aoe...

Your post was 100% incorrect. You fail.

Just soloed this puppy RDM/NIN. At the spring there was 1 cactuar between the kiting road out and the flower, so I just nuke slept it then rested to full. Pulled out my NPC buddy just incase 1000 needles happened, but it never (it used Needle Shot 3 times, but shadows hastely absorbed it with 1 shadow). Bio II / Poison II all the time and kited with bind and gravity. After about 25% of his HP was gone, gravity would wear within 2 seconds of casting, so save your MP after you see this happening. Bind still worked like a charm and ON OCCASSION I even had a tick to rest. Towards the end of my MP, right before a convert, I would toss a Thunder III at him for 500dmg. Fight lasted through 3 converts, 3rd being a chainspell Thunder III to finish his last 5%hp off. Keep refresh up at ALL times or you will NOT last between converts! Got key item right before maintenance started this morning on Fenrir. Can't wait to log back on and finish this mission ^^

Too Weak
# Dec 12 2006 at 11:27 PM Rating: Decent
I think this NM is too weak I just got done Soloing this as RDM75/NIN37 didn't do 1000 Needles once just don't let it get TP when kiting it Gravity really sticks about for the first 10% but when you cast it it will wear very fast after 85% took about 30-45 min Used Bio & poison and those really teamed up on Damage at first I was only using Bio but make sure you use Haste stoneskin Utsusemi: Ni Phalanx Pro shell etc but make sure you know what you are doing or you will fall I had a close call with MP Issues even tho I am a Tarutaru by sure to have Refresh on at ALL TIMES if you are low MP other then that it's Accuracy really really sucks

PS Dont let it get TP when you Cast magic it gets enough TP
rdm/nin?

can rdm/nin solo this? with a drk or blm stunning 1k needles and 1 other person help absorb 1k needles if it goes off? so 3ppl total?
rdm/nin?
# Dec 13 2006 at 7:23 AM Rating: Decent
I don't think you you could get the Stun off in Time it isn't like the BLU Mage spell and they can always do 1000 Needles again because TP wouldn't be losed

OK Some people in my linkshell needed this. We had a 75 blmx2, 62 pld, 67 pld 60 drg, 60+ whm, 75 pld, 75 whm, 62 war/nin and some other random jobs that were 60ish.We ended up with 12 people and I think it took 3 mins to die. Maybe.... massive overkill to say the least. We murdered it, I don't think it even 1000 needled. Anyway our collective party wanted to fight it again it went down so fast. Clicked the rose and ran home, after finishing magicite for a friend the cs and reward was a little dissapointing.
Warning...

Just one quick thing...

If you happen to be NPC-XPing in Western Altepa with a 68RDM, 60WHM and 72BRD, don't touch the flower.

Yeah, it sucked.

People say he has just over 10k HP, but ours had over 15k HP.

Still easy, but took more than we expected.

Our PT was

75RDM
72BLM
62BRD

We did the Gravity + Bind Strat, and it worked great. We didn't get hit with one 1000 Needles attack.

RDM did 8113 damage utilizing convert and chainspell aspir on a nearby beetle.
BLM did 7074 damage with no 2 hour.
BRD kept us up with Ballad and used Requium V.

Total was 15187 Visible DMG, not seen is the DMG from my Dia (not much I'm sure), and the Requium

Mission 6-1: easy
# Nov 17 2005 at 6:35 PM Rating: Decent
I just did this mission not even 5 minutes ago. this is what my pt had:

58 DRG (naniki)
58 BLM (me)
65 WAR (sampr)
70 THF (titzle)
74 NIN (izian)
75 WHM (jada)

We may have been lucky becasue he didnt spam needle shots except maybe twice, we brought him down in about 5 min so Id say this mission is fairly easy

Please forgive me, I did this on Sunday so I don't remember the details exactly. That, and I'm Bastokan, I just went along to help out my San D'Orian LS mates. Anyway, here's what we did:

Party:

70 WHM
6? RDM
63 DRK
62 PLD
62 NIN
62 SAM

We split into two parties of three members each and formed an alliance. Then we all used our Signal Pearls to call out our NPCs. We essentially had 12 players to take the damage from 1000 needles. Sadly, some of us lost our NPCs, but they went down bravely. :) With this strategy, the fight was easy.

Good luck!

Just did this today...

We had 74 WAR, 73 MNK, 64 THF, 63 DRK, and me (69 RDM).

The fight was easy but the cactuar spams 1000 needles like it's nothing... I curaga 2'ed like mad but MNK went down at last moment before NM died ; ; With another healer we would have had no casualities.. I chainspell raised MNK so he could get key item but I felt really really bad that he died ><

I'm guessing the cactuar has at least 10,000 k xp... He doesn't hit hard but his neetle shots hit the mnk and war anywhere from 150-350 dmg.. And he literally did 1000 needles every 10 seconds >< The fight only lasted about 2 minutes, everyone was WSing anywhere from 600-1300...

If you aren't a BST or SMN I would highly recommend getting at least a 6 person PT with 2 healers so the 1000 needles aren't so bad..

I decided to try... Sleep doesn't work, but Bind does. Gravity worked on him until about 50% life then it got very resistant, as usual. I managed to solo him on my second try. I would Bio/Poison2 (he resists it a lot due to being water) and sometimes Shock, then Bind and run far away to rest. If I'd saved Gravity for the times Bind wore fast it would've been easier. If I had some juices it would've been simple. I had to Sleep a beetle to get MP, but he ran dry when the NM was around 27% so I did Manafont to finish it off. Based on how much HP he lost from Thunder4, he has over 10k HP, maybe 12k.

He doesn't 'spam' 1000 Needles as everyone says, he just uses it when he gets 100 TP. Any direct damage spell will give 10 TP to the mob, so make sure he doesn't hit you for more than 0, and give him 100 TP when he is far off. He will then use Needleshot or Regen, which you can Dispel. Poison, Shock etc don't give him TP, but Bio (due to initial 70 damage) and Thunder etc do.
