Mission Orders

The papsque has requested an adventurer of renown. Speak to His Holiness in the cathedral. His chambers lie upstairs.

Walkthrough

Proceed to the top level of the Cathedral in Northern San d'Oria and talk to the Papsque. You must go up two flights of stairs to get to it--the door is on the balcony of the cathedral.

Once you have received the cutscene with the Papsque, head to Bostaunieux Oubliette, the dungeon beneath Chateau d'Oraguille.
Take your first right, heading until you reach a dead-end with a NPC and a trap door on the floor.
Cast Sneak or use Silent Oils, then talk to the NPC to pass through the trap door down in to the second level.
You will find two slimes waiting for you.

Once you have dropped down, simply follow the right wall, heading right at every opportunity, until you eventually zone in to West Ronfaure.
You will end up on a rather small ledge--be sure not to fall down.
There is a ??? at the edge. Touch the ??? to spawn Marauder Dvogzog, a NM Orc.
This is a monk-type orc that will use Hundred Fists.
When the orc uses Hundred Fists, it is best to have a Paladin use Invincible.
12 LV 61 players should have no trouble what-so-ever with this battle.
Once the orc is dead, examine the ??? again to receive a key item -- an Ancient San d'Orian Tablet.

Return to the Papsque to receive a cutscene, then head to the gate guard, then finish the mission by receiving a cutscene at the garden in the Chateau.

Did this as 75MNK/WAR for 3 of my friends. Very fun fight for a monk, especially when Orc 2hrs. You will not get hurt more if you use counterstance, Not sure why. I 2hred at the start, when I finished he started. I tossed up Dodge and Counterstance, I kid you not, I must have countered over 50 times. Just a big ol box o spam of counters heh. I only had my NPC to heal me

I just solo'd this thing as 75 pup using whm frame. wasnt to bad except when he 2hr'd. other then that was a breez, other then the length of the battle due to the amount of hp that this NM has.

Killed this guy as a Level 73 BLM/RDM with a level 75 DRK/SAM and a level 72 PLD/WAR. He's not hard, but has a ton of HP. Bind him during hundred fists and just wait for it to wear then go back to wrecking him.
Sucky

Remember to stay on the ledge while you fight him =P a friend of mine 75RDM/WHM and myself 60BLU/NIN beat the NM marauder guy but i thought i would be smart and drag him down so my buddy didnt have to waste the time to walk through the dungeon to get to him. needless to say i couldnt reach the spot from below and when i walked through again it just spawned the NM all over again. so we had to fight it all over again anyway =P SUUUCKY!

All I can add is this; after the CS with the Papsque the mission is over. You know this by the music and by checking your mission log.
The bit in the walkthrough that tells you to go to the gate guard and then to the garden is wrong. Ignore that last bit. Speak to the Papsque and then you're back to trading crystals for the next mission.

I traded about 4 stacks of crystals and the gate guard told me to go and speak to the princess in the garden at the Chateau. Go and get a CS from the princess and Chalvalot, then go back to the gate guard and you can now choose the next mission, Secret Weapon.

Thank you for this notation, we were abit confused after the whole "gate guard..garden" thing, but that set us right.
MNK vs MNK

I went in as 75 MNK/NIN. Had trouble keeping shadows up with evasion setup.

Then 1 hundred fist him. Took off about 1/2 his health. He in turn 2 HRed.. so I macroed in counter gear and activated counterstance. Funny thing is there wasn't any damage difference with counterstance on. I started feeding him counters to the face, 37 in total. I was quite funny to see.

Anyways.. killed him with 150 HP left. A little tight but still..

Took 2.5 min total fight.

This NM is pathetic. I wanted to try something different so I geared up my RDM/PLD (yes I have all subs). I run through the sewer get out to ER and buff up typical buffs. Refresh, Pro4, Haste, Enwater, Icespikes, Stoneskin, Phalanx. I heal my mp to full than pop a Taz. Taco. Then slapped the ??? to pop this Maurader Orc. He starts slapping away.
Gear:
Wal Turban
Misericorde (dagger)
Genbu Shield
Elusive earingx2
SH
Warwolf belt
Amemet +1
Str+ DEX + rings

needless to say Stoneskin lasted till he was around 70% HP. With DoT, Dagger30-50+ Enspell hitting for 18 everyhit fast he would drop 1% every swing. I let stoneskin fall to see the damage was around 3-8hp per hit. Hahaha. Throw stoneskin back up and just kept bioIII and poiII up. He 2hr around 51% slapped on sentinel (which I dont think I needed it) and gave him a shield bash when sentinel ran out. Gave him a couple WaterIII and an Everscrition every 100%tp and he was dead in about 15mins not even. Never converted, never paniced. I believe any job at 75 can solo this ****.

Oh btw if anyone has soloed the MNK mob for MNK AF that one was harder than this. This guy never countered. Paralized easy and had far fewer hitpoints than expected.

I was pretty worried about trying to solo this guy, I had trio'd it in the past for a friend, we went SAM WAR THF with healing NPC's and it was a close fight, this Orc gave us a nasty beating, and we had a few deaths, knowing how fast he attacked I didnt fancy going rdm/nin, so I gave /blu a try.

This really is a relaxed and easy fight as Rdm/Blu. Using Protect IV, Cocoon, Phalanx, Chevoit Cape, Jelly Ring and a Tav.Taco he was hitting me for 0's, occasionally hitting highs for 5 damage. I didnt even bother with Stoneskin I wanted to how well /blu worked. Overall I was impressed I cant wait to put it to use again.

once again...

Well this was a lot of fun and pretty easy. Did this with a 70whm/35nin friend and my 75pld/37rdm. He hit pretty often but not for much. Only time it got a little hairy at all was when he two houred. I just hit invincible and let him hit me as I attained Tp and hit him with a Savage Blade as a thank you for the pounding he was trying to give me. Whm Bene'd at the end just to make sure we would make it. It was a lot of fun and anyone plans to do this, have a couple 70+ with ya if you are not already 70+. BTW, when you get in BO, at the end of the tunnel, go through the "Wooden Door," that's where you will find the NPC and the trap door. Good luck to all who is about to do this!
once again...

Did this today

1. BST/WHM 72 me!
2. BST/WHM 75 Dacdawg
3. BST/NIN 75 Vife

Used jugs [CC] - Buffed and cooled timers before we set off ???

Fight was going pretty well but Vife got too much hate and when Orc set of his 2hr he didnt even have time to zone! Death. It soon got Dac too - but its 2hr had finished by the time it got to me - So me and one 50%< CC left - When it got to 10% I foolishly Rampaged - not a good plan- I got the hate and it got me down to less than 200hp before CC regained hate. I let it finish it off and I got the key item.

I reckon this could be done duo BST. Pet Food Zeta recomended.

Solo'd 75drg/whm. with Fellowship NPC.

With food and protect his hits are weak, only difficulty is 100 fists which i basically just super jump'd and sacrificed my wyvern and NPC to. Recalled wyvern and just continued to beat him down. Didnt need juice but you might want to bring if you dont have more than about 180 mp.

This dude has alot of HP. Hitting for 180 a swing+ wyvern doing 40+ npc doing 60 and fight took about 10 mins.

Solo'd 75RDM/27BLU! Fight took about 25 minutes. I converted twice, once at about 75% and the 2nd time at 5% along with chainspell just to kill it. Pretty easy fight, just keep phalanx, cocoon, ice spikes, and bio 2 up at all times and stoneskin will last pretty long. Once stoneskin drops he'll hit for about 0-20 a hit. Ice spikes really helped because he got paralyzed so much.

As for hundred fists, when you see him use it put shock spikes up. This will stun him every now and again. If you notice he goes unparalyzed during hundred fists put ice spikes up until he get reparalyzed, then go back to shock.

All in all I have to say it was {fun} and {excitment} for my morning. Good luck to anyone who is doing this mission with or without a party.

A 75 BST friend needed to kill this so we went together, Monk mobs are too weak to RDMs anyway so I asked her not to engage and let me try to solo. Anyway the entire battle I took a total of 4 damage, and that's because I canceled Stoneskin to see how much he did to me. Anyway when he Hundred Fist my friend thought I was gonna die lol, but all that happened was amazing skill ups to my parrying =P, I wish I could regularly pop him to skill up and Hundred Fist last forever.

Duo RDM64/BL32 and THF75/NIN37 easy prey mission

I Trick attacked the RDM the whole fight and he got no hate, and he only needed to convert once. Shadow tanking is tough because he hits like mad, but he whiffs half the time so it's not to bad. I used perfect dodge countered his hundred fists which saved my life. It's not hard at, but it is a long fight.

Three of us took this NM down earlier:

74PLD/37RDM (Me)
75RDM/37SMN (Selkis)
68BLM/34WHM (Tebian)

I tanked him: Protect IV and Tav. Tacos, Stoneskin, Phalanx and Blaze Spikes all used. It took a while for Stoneskin to drop (recasted it twice in a 6 minute fight) and when it did, Shield Blocks and Phalanx ensured it was hitting for 0 damage 80% of the time. Blaze Spikes did 4 damage each time it hit me, which quickly built up.
The mob was Blind, Paralyzed, Slowed and Bio'd and all 3 of us were melee'ing (until after he used Hundred Fists at about 25% HP left - where I used Invincible). After that the BLM and RDM just nuked until he died.

It was a very easy fight to be honest. I wasn't cure'd once - Regen did the job perfectly well. I wore standard tank gear - AF Body, Legs and Feet, Adaman Head and Hands, AGI+ Earrings, VIT Rings. Would be around the same difficulty as a DC mob for me (but with much more HP) so is deffinatly doable by PLD over Lv. 65.

Enjoy.

75RDM/WAR. Defender, Phalanx, Tavnazian Taco. This mob will not even dent you. The only way this mob will break your Stoneskin is mass criticals or time runs out on Stoneskin. ;)

Duo'ed as 75rdm/37nin, and 71blm/35rdm. I did just fine tanking no problems except when I didn't notice I was out of shihei and I had to open another toolbag. Fight took 27min, Blm nuked and zoned occassionally, I didn't have any uber gear or anything, I did it without a Joyeuse, I'd like to go back and try again now that I do have one but oh well. I just Bound it while it 2hr'ed (Hundred Fists), Blm might have stunned it not sure. BLM used 3 hi-ethers but she didn't NEED to she just was having fun I guess. I did 2hr at the end to cure myself because I got overzealous and I thought a ThunderIII would finish him, and my shadows dropped and I started to get my **** kicked. I did fraps it but its like 9GB+ I compressed it to 50ish MB but it looks like crap obviously I can send if you e-mail me or something. Good luck this guys isn't all that sweet just another monk XD <<Too Weak>> XD

Just duo'ed this:

74 Mnk/Nin (me)
72 Rdm/Blm (Macbain)

Fight took about 9-10 minutes.

He hits pretty hard. I have capped evasion and some crappy evasion equipment, so he whiffed a couple times on me thankfully. I am still a little sloppy with casting shadows, and my gear isn't exactly ideal for /Nin but it worked out. I was able to get shadows up pretty well nonetheless.

I use Waghs (no Destroyers yet) and spammed Asuran Fists every time it was up. They didn't do much damage on him however. I probably hit him with Asuran Fists 11 or 12 times.

I used Hundred Fists at the same time he did and it was quite a slobberknocker. We were toe-to-toe on that one.

One key to this fight, Mac hit him with Paralyze and Gravity. This gave me some much needed (although relatively brief) downtime mid-fight. I was able to throw some more shadows up. It gave Mac some time to do his Red mage thing (i.e. Convert, Stoneskin, etc.) If the enfeebling magic didn't stick, we probably wouldn't have won.
