Summary

Rycharde wants you to deliver a dish to Valgeir in Selbina, and report on how he liked it.

Walkthrough

Rycharde now wants you to deliver his cuisine to his father to once again try to show how his cooking skills to him. Rycharde will have your ferry fee paid for so head off to Selbina.

Once in Selbina talk to Valgeir and the old man will tell you Rycharde still has a long way to go. He also explains that cooking isn't about getting the most exotic ingredients or how it looks on the outside. It's what is the inside that counts. Valgeir then hands you a Popoto item to give back to his son.

Take this back to Rycharde to complete the quest. Rycharde will reward you with a Tea Set, furniture for your MH, and your new title will be "Five-star Purveyor". Once you give the Popoto to Rycharde, you should go back to Selbina again and talk to Valgeir to find out why he gave the Popoto to his son.

The quest isn't activating because you have to wait until the next day after japanese midnight. It can be anywhere from 5 minuttes to 24hours, depending on when you finished the previous quest.

Ok here it is how I got the quest. After doing all the pre stuff I spoke to NPC: Take, she rambles about father & son thing and she wants some food from Valgeir. Make sure u have Expertise go to Selbina take a Crab meat and a scream fungus to Valgeir wait 24hrs game day zone go back and receive Key Item: Land Crab Bisque quest go back and talk to Take. Items granted tableware set. Now wait several hrs (don’t know how many I zoned didn’t get it so I left tried the next day) and then I got the Clue Quest did that again came back around 2 RL days and finally got The Basic Quest. Hope that helps. GL

Ok, I did pretty much what was outlined in this guide. I got my Tea Set + 5-star title. However, recently (I finished this quest a long time ago) I talked to Rycharde again and he told me that he finally understood what the popoto meant. I talked to Valigier after that and didn't get any response. Maybe, this is completely unfounded, but maybe, if you wait until Rycharde understands to talk to Valigier again then Valigier will be happier/give you a different prize.
The Problem: for me it took months for Rycharde to realize the message. 6 monthsish.
Other Possibility: The added the end to this quest in the Promathia expansion update.

Things I'm going to test:
1. Trading a popoto to Valigier.
2. Trading a Baked Popoto to Valigier.
3. Trading a Baked Popoto to Rycharde.

I'll report if they work. I should test them quickly. I might be able to convince an ls mate to test my completely unfounded suspicion.
Windy fame level requirement
# Aug 22 2004 at 1:54 PM Rating: Decent
My fame level is 6 in Windy and I finally got this quest. I didn't check it when my fame level was 5, so I don't know if I could have gotten it then. I also have fame level 8 in Jeuno and Sandy, 5 in Norg, and 4 or 5 in Bastok.

Can you get this if you told the truth?
# Aug 01 2004 at 10:47 PM Rating: Decent
I wonder if you can get this if you repeated what Valgir said?

My apologies for the repeated posts. I kept getting a blank white page after clicking on "Post Message," so I assumed it wasn't working. :-(
Wait time

This is probably fame related. I am a San d'Orian citizen with fame level 7 in both Sandy and Jeuno, but only fame level 4 in Windurst. I had to get to Windy fame level 4 to get the previous quest or two in this series, and I still cannot get this one even though many real weeks have passed.

The wait time seems to be 1 real day to get this, like most of the quests in this series

This was 7 hours wait from previous quest.

1 game week.

Few of them were 2-3 hours.

A game week is actually 7 hours, 40 minutes, and 48 seconds if you wanna be a **** about it. ;-)
when?

Either the wait time on this quest is longer, or you have to have VERY high fame. 5 RL hours after last quest & he still will not offer this one.

Doki - 45 Dragoon
Rank 5 - 184 quests completed
