Let me clear this up for alot of you. Fame to get this quest is directly related to fame in San d Oria. You must have atleast "You are famous in this country" in San d Oria to receive the Teleport-Altep quest.
I went down to the quicksand caves nearest to Korroloka Tunnel with no map. I didn't know where i was going just know i'm searching for ???. I had sneak on at all times while running around. First encounter ??? within 2 minutes into the cave but it dissappear before i got to it however it reappear next to a small room on the way. I clicked on it and found the tablet.^^ It was my first attempt and i wasn't expecting to get it that night. Total time was less than 5 minutes compare to the horrible time i had with Teleport-Mea which took 4 misserable hours. Woot!!!
heres what i did. LVL 36WHM/15SUM. (spelling on zones may be incorrect)
i eneterd the quicksand caves at the entrance directly north (closest one) to the Korrolaka Tunnel in East Altept Desert.
Go straight down tunnel till you get to a big open room. the only exit to the room is to the left where it seems like the floor had broken, opening two passages. take the left passage. youll get to another open room with two exits (one infont of you and one left of you) take the left exit. youll get to another room that is open where it seems like the floor had fallen opening two more passages.. Again. If you take a left and follow that path you will soon find where the ??? is. If you take a right... well, thats a secret for summoners. (cloister of earth.. :) found it)
took me a couple of thours to find the ??? for the scroll. so, good luck.
I didn't find the tablet at this location, but this post encouraged me to wander deep in the caves looking for the spot. Nothing aggros if you keep sneak up, so it's quite safe and pretty cool graphics to boot. I loved the sand seeping in from desert above. Anyway, took about 30 minutes of searching to find a spot.
According to the AH status, Rabao is under San'Dorian faction (as of Jan.3, 2003). I believe if you have enough faction to get the Teleport Holla quest from SanDoria, you should have enough faction for this quest to.
Just got the quest finished, and here is what to expect:
Getting to Rabao isn't that bad. Sneak/Invis in Kor., then Sneak through E. and W. Altepa into Rabao. The San D'orian Monk is right by the lake; you can't miss him. A map of the region, which you should buy, is in the AH area by a Mithra (I think it was a Mithra). The Quicksand Caves are easy too, just throw Sneak on and nothing will agro. The spawn point for the "???" place is random, according to all the WHMs I asked, so just run around spamming the Tab key till you hit a "???". Head back to Rabao after you get the Tablet, talk to the monk again, then teleport back to Holla, talk to the Monk in the Cathedral of San D'oria (down the stairs in the cathedral). It does indeed take about 24 RL hours for the guy to translate the tablet and give you the spell. All said, this one is more time intensive than labor/risk intensive. The fame for Rabao is linked to Bastok I believe, so if you had enough fame to get the Teleport-Dem spell, then you will have enough to get Teleport-Altep too.
It's the Cathedral in San'Doria, not the Chateau. I think you are confusing the accessibility with the Chateau. The Cathedral is an open building that anyone can go into. Eperdur (the priest upstairs) is the main priest guy that will give you the scrolls when you complete each quest.

This one is a bit more tricky to remember, but it's better than no info at all. First of all, high fame is needed. When it's sufficient, the Elvaan missionary next to the lake in Rabao will offer you a quest. He wants you to find some sort of item with some writing on it. If I'm not mistaken, you must go into the quicksand caves from K-7 in the East Altepa desert. I forget the location, but sneak was needed to skip all the mobs. Search around for a ??? or something out of the ordinary and you should pick up a tablet of some sort. Bring this back to the NPC located in Rabao. With the new completed item, you must now go to San D'oria cathedral and speak with the NPC located downstairs outside the door. He'll work on translating it. Come back in about one real-life day and he'll have translated the spell, and will give you a copy of Teleport-Altep.
