dungeons (WAR)

Much of the information here has been borrowed from the PvE Dungeons articles that may be found at WAR Herald.

The dungeons of Warhammer Online range from stretches of existing lands to deep and dark corners of hidden away caves, buried in the thickest of forests. Here are many of the dungeons that are currently in WAR. References have been borrowed from the dungeon articles at WAR Herald.

Altdorf Palace

The Altdorf Palace is a reminder of the Empire's power, at it can be seen from much of Altdorf. The Emperor bides his time within the relative security of the Palace, as do his guests and most trusted advisors.

If the forces of Destruction are to conquer Altdorf, then they must succeed in seeing the Emperor brought to ruin within the walls of his palace. There can be no other substitute for victory.

Altdorf Sewers

Many secret paths and doorways lead into the foul sewers beneath Altdorf. Some can be found in the cellars of the city's buildings, while others are accessible to anyone willing to brave the miasma emanating from an open grate on one of the city's narrow streets.

  • Down the alley south of the southeast corner of the Bright Wizard College, and the mobs are 14-15 Champions.
  • Just off the northeast corner of the Market Square, towards the docks. The mobs here are level 15 Champions.
  • The third entrance is on the west side of the Bright Wizard College and the mobs just inside the entrance are 17-18 Champions.

Bastion Stair

The Bastion Stair is a Chaos fortress in the The Chaos Wastes controlled by Khorne, the blood god which resembles a colossal wall with giant steps leading into the sky. It is one of the major Khornate bastions, and the site of the Rift of Rage, a powerful Chaos Portal. The Rift of Rage is threatening to corrupt the World of Warhammer with its cursed winds of magic. In WAR, the Bastion Stair serves as a difficult end-game PvE Dungeon and the source of Bloodlord armour set gear.

Bastion Stair consists of three wings, and is suitable for a group of 6 characters between 33rd and 39th level.

Bilerot Burrows

Search north of the Monolith, near the city's lowest point. The gate will remain closed if the Inevitable City has not advanced sufficiently to unleash the unclean things that dwell within the Bilerot Burrows.

Grandfather Nurgle craves control of the Inevitable City, just as the other Dark Gods do. Though control of the sprawling metropolis eludes him, the Lord of Pestilence is the undisputed master of its festering innards. The Bilerot Burrows are but one symptom of a more serious plague which, frighteningly, shows no sign of a cure.

Bloodwrought Enclave

The Bloodwrought Enclave can be found within the Undercroft of the Inevitable City. The screams of pain, shouts of battle, and clash of steel can be heard long before one approaches the Enclave's front entrance.

War never ends within the Bloodwrought Enclave. Barakus the Godslayer sees to this, for he has ever been a loyal servant of Khorne. Even when he was a mere mortal, Barakus thirsted for spilled blood like a ravening beast, and his hunger for battle was never truly sated. Now he is cursed to remain within the Enclave, eternally tormented and eternally at arms.

Dungeons of Sacellum

The Sacellum is an arena found in the Inevitable City, it is here that beings of this world and others come to face each other in bloody combat to honor the Gods of Chaos. Within the Dungeon, combatants are kept in check, waiting to be released into the blood stained sand of the arena. Over eager 'spectators' can go into the Dungeon, and take the fight to them.

The East Sacellum Dungeons entrance can be found on the 2nd ramp of the Sacellum itself, to the east.

Elysium

The Elysium is located within the Inevitable City, in the Lost Narrows.

"A garden, you say? You may as well say that the Elysium's just another plot where farmers grow daffodils and pick weeds. A garden! Ha!

"It's the Elysium, son. It's a haven of evil within a den of iniquity. No one but Aekold Helbrass enters the place, and only a few but him leave thought its doors. A twisted, tortured thing is Aekold, but he will never admit such. Tzeentch has taken from him his soul, and with it his humility." -- Greta Naumann, Keeper of Rolls, Altdorf Library

Gundbad Tunnels

Gunbad is best suited to players between levels 22 and 30. Each wing has a different ideal level range so you can progress through the content in a natural manner. The West Wing is level 22-23, the East Wing is level 24-25 and the South Wing is for levels 26-29. While there are some soloable mobs here and there, the majority of the content is intended for a full party, and occasionally a warband.

Eternal Citadel

Tchar'zanek's Citadel stands tall and terrifying in the northernmost portion of the Inevitable City. It can be seen from almost any part of the city, which makes it all the more oppressive.

"The Empire swine will never break us. On the contrary, the Inevitable City will break them. So I say, 'Let them come.' The sooner my blade tastes the blood of Franz's lapdogs, the sooner the Daemon within will slake its thirst." -- Thaezu Redfang, Chosen of Khorne

Lost Vale

The Lost Vale or Gaen Vale is a large high level Dungeon in Avelorn. The Vale is a secret secluded area of forest (Avelorn is entirely covered in enchanted forest) where the High Elf Everqueen traditionally seeks refuge in times of trouble. The current Everqueen Allarielle has fled here due to a Dark Elf (House Uthorin and House Arkaneth) invasion of her homeland of Avelorn, only to find it has been corrupted by the forces of the Chaos God Slaanesh and the natural spirits of the Vale have turned against the Asur.

The Vale is divided into three wings which are further divided into sections. Each section is able to be played through independently, so players can do one section one night, and do other parts of the dungeon later.

Sacellum Dungeons

Sacellum is a winged dungeon, meaning that it has multiple sections, each of which is it's own zone, and with it's own level range, mob list and loot tables. However, all of the wings have the same name so a single wiki page is connected to all of the sub-zones.

Screaming Cat Tavern

The Screaming Cat is located along the southeastern docks of Altdorf, marked by a black cat's silhouette over the door. One need only follow their nose to find the exact location.

"I've a mind to knock some sense into that manling, one fist at a time." "It's hardly worth the effort, Gotrek. You might as well let him go." "I don't never let an insult slide!" "Now, now. I don't think he intended any insult." "Didn't intend it? Bollocks! Why'd he have the wench serve up that watery ale, then?" "It was a mistake, Gotrek, as sure as Morrslieb's made of cheese." -- Gotrek Gurnisson and Felix Jaeger, overheard in the Screaming Cat Tavern

Warpblade Tunnels

There are many entrances into the Warpblade Tunnels, and these can be found within the basements of the Blowhole Tavern and the Reikland Arms by inquisitive or foolish adventurers.

The Skaven that swarm beneath Altdorf are an infestation that goes largely unnoticed by the surface-dwellers. Not only do they hold sway in the city's sewers, they are also lords of the Warplade Tunnels -- a twisting and turning complex of caverns that stretch deep below the city and into areas best left unexplored. The members of the Warpblade clan squeak and chitter in the eldritch light cast by veins of Warpstone. They are wary and vigilant, and they do not suffer intruders to live.
