ZAM would like to thank Lodrelhai, Mophia and other Testers for additional quest dialogues and ghost locations.

Trivia The name of the quest is a nod to a popular line from Act II of the Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet. In the verse, Juliet says "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Nights of the Dead

Lore

There be spoilers in this section! This is the full quest dialogue, as presented on the Test server.

You say, "Hail, Setri Lur'eth"
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "I have a memory, that we spoke and you helped in the past. Was it real, or was it only a dream?"
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "It was no dream..."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Ah dreams, such ephemeral things. And yet while we are there, do we not learn from our experiences? Do they not sit in our memories, like a chameleon, leaving us to wonder what is real and what is not?"
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "I suppose that is true."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Then the only thing that stops a dream from having substance are others. Others we can depend on to say, "No Setri, that was only a dream, it did not happen." And then we are free. But we do not dream now do we?"
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "No, Setri, this is not a dream, it is happening."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Then help me, Cyliena. I am only one shaman, and there are so many things to be done..."
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "What is it I can do for you?"
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "We are well within the Nights of the Dead, and here lies an opportunity! We can help them! Help them move on to their final resting place. They wail, trapped here by their own dreams, spreading their discontent to anyone who will listen. Speak with them, convince them to move on."
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "Speak to ghosts?"
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Yes, to the spirits of the dead. To those who cannot move on on their own. Be the Other who says, "Spirit, this is only a dream, you must wake up.""
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "I can do this, where should I start looking for these ghosts?"
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "The graveyards of Norrath are scattered across the world. There you will find those who refuse to accept their own deaths. Return to me when you are finished. I will do what I can here."
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "Then I will return soon, Setri."

You have entered The Commonlands.
You say, "Hail, Linrrar Irrnath"
Linrrar Irrnath says to you, "Can I help you?"
You say to Linrrar Irrnath, "I don't think so, but perhaps I can help you instead."
Linrrar Irrnath says to you, "Oh, no. I don't think so."
You say to Linrrar Irrnath, "Are you sure? Do you know where you are?"
Linrrar Irrnath says to you, "Of course I know where I am. Do you know where you are?"
You say to Linrrar Irrnath, "I... yes of course I do."
Linrrar Irrnath says to you, "Are you sure? Are you absolutely positive? Where exactly do you see yourself at this moment?"
You say to Linrrar Irrnath, "Here with you, in this graveyard."
Linrrar Irrnath says to you, "Oh? Is that what you think? You poor thing. Are you sure you don't need help?"
You say to Linrrar Irrnath, "No, I'm very certain. We're in a graveyard."
Linrrar Irrnath says to you, "Tsk, tsk. Don't you think it's time you moved on?"
You say to Linrrar Irrnath, "I... no, it is you that needs to move on."
Linrrar Irrnath says to you, "Too bad. I hate to see someone who refuses to move on to Ethernere. But give it time, you will come to terms with it eventually."

Ganamen Shatterhammer says to you, "Yes. But who are you? I do not know you, I have never seen you before. We have no relation. And so I am still alone."
You say to Ganamen Shatterhammer, "You are alone because you have not moved on from this world. It is time to leave, Ganamen."
Ganamen Shatterhammer says to you, "Are you asking me to leave? I was here first. "
You say to Ganamen Shatterhammer, "I am not asking you anything, but... how do I say this? You have died, Ganamen. You sit here on Norrath, when you should move on to Ethernere. You will find kindred souls there."
Ganamen Shatterhammer says to you, "I have heard this story before. And I have the same answer to you."
You say to Ganamen Shatterhammer, "But you will be free! You can pass from this world onto the next, you can rejoin those who you knew."

Tydarill Danerill says to you, "What are you doing here? Leave me to my thoughts."
You say to Tydarill Danerill, "I'm here to help you. I'm sure that something feels ‘off' to you?"
Tydarill Danerill says to you, "Off? No, I am sitting here, thinking of the future."
You say to Tydarill Danerill, "What future is that?"
Tydarill Danerill says to you, "A future where this all burns, where nothing is left but ashes and dreams of what once was."
You say to Tydarill Danerill, "Is this a future you see or a future you desire?"
Tydarill Danerill says to you, "Both, neither. It does not concern you."
You say to Tydarill Danerill, "How long have you been at this?"
Tydarill Danerill says to you, "I do not know."
You say to Tydarill Danerill, "The reason you do not know is that..."
Tydarill Danerill says to you, " I am dead? Do you think me such a fool as to not realize that? No. I wish to stay here. To watch it all fall. I have a good view from here. Ethernere would not give me such a view."
You say to Tydarill Danerill, "But I..."
Tydarill Danerill says to you, "No! Leave me! I will not speak to you again. I have made my choice, free and clear. Do not try to convince me otherwise."

You say to S'Lithe Pyhrris, "Well, I'm not sure how exactly to put this, but you have passed on. You are no longer a part of the land of the living."
S'Lithe Pyhrris says to you, "No, that cannot be. My fiancée, I visit her every night. I cannot be dead. "
You say to S'Lithe Pyhrris, "Is that what keeps you here then?"
S'Lithe Pyhrris says to you, "Keeps me here? My heart keeps me here, my blood, my flesh. I cannot be dead!"
You say to S'Lithe Pyhrris, "I am afraid that you are wrong, you have died S'Lithe. It is your memory of your fiancée that keeps you here. You must let go."
S'Lithe Pyhrris says to you, "No! I am not dead. You are insane! Leave me be!"
You say to S'Lithe Pyhrris, "No, S'Lithe, you died. It's time you moved on to Ethernere."

Conclusion

You have entered Nektulos Forest.
You say, "Hail, Setri Lur'eth"
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Oh, hello, Cyliena. So nice of you to join me today."
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "I'm sorry, but I could not do what you asked. The spirits I found were... disturbed."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "What do you mean?"
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "I tried to get the spirits to move on, to give up their hold on Norrath, but every single one of them refused."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "I'm sorry, Cyliena, I'm confused. Why were you doing this?"
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "To help the spirits get to Ethernere?"
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Do you need my help with that? Is that what you're asking?"
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "No, you asked me to."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Oh my... I did no such thing. Such are dreams, I suppose. A dream that lasts forever, and touches life on its edges. To see one brought to life is invigorating though."
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "No, it wasn't a dream. You asked me, right here, where you stand, to help you in your shamanic duties. To help the spirits across Norrath find their way to Ethernere. You said that the Nights of the Dead were the best way to make this happen."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "I'm sorry, Cyliena, but you are wrong. I haven't seen you anytime recently. I certainly would remember tasking you with this, because it would not be something I would ever ask of someone else. The Nights of the Dead are a dangerous time to brook with spirits."
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "This can't be... you did. You asked me."
Setri Lur'eth says to you, "No. It was a dream, Cyliena. Be still, be calm. Nothing more can harm you. Nothing more will haunt your dreams. Awake."
You say to Setri Lur'eth, "..."
