Not Summoned?

Was there today and these are not charmable or mezzable by mage charm/mez spells. I am assuming this means they are not summoned. :)

I solo these every now and then when I'm waiting for a better option(group), or to finish off a lvl or an AA, however I solo them by tanking and I've often had players turn up to start a group, where I'm soloing thinking I'm in trouble! but with dogdog and slowed I have handled these comfortably from lvl 65, and as you can imagine getting much easier as I get close to 68 the xp on these now suck both on straight xp and AA xp now, so I think I'll be rarely visiting these again.

For groups: take a decent tank and a good cleric on these.
I, being a 57 warrior with 2 AA's in a group desperate for a tank, died 5 times tanking these. I have 5.7k and 1310 AC buffed. The first few seconds in the fight will be especially painfull before the slow sticks. They can quad for 550ish and better slap your cleric if he s watching TV, it happened to me.
I guess I better get back to Griegs and get a bit more AAs and levels before Im tanking these again.
Another lesson learned.
Under 60 group?
# Jan 08 2004 at 9:23 PM Rating: Decent
Question, as I've never hunted here before, but can a group that consists of:

58 Mage
58 Enchanter
58 Druid

take one of these down?

Usually in this group, the enchanter pulls with a slow and cripple, druid snares / roots / dots and the mage lets loose on nukes, plus both chanter and mage pets are buffed and decked with mage gear. This combo works well in PoD and PoN, but have not ventured here before, so I'd value your opinions.

You can also add a bard for selos for running speed, and bards DoTs will stick for added damage. Been doing this with my 57 bard.
RE: Under 60 group?

Easily done with your group. Simple reverse kite them. Druid snares... and snares... and snares while mage pet beats on it from behind and enchie can dot nuke. These are snareable with my 56 ranger so its no problem for your druid. They do not summon they hit in the lower 400s so dont let it hit you too much.

I recommend this method of killing even to full groups with tanks as you can kill things much more quickly since the healer can nuke/dot instead of heal. However if your tanks cant move well (bad computers or bad movement skill) then this will not work for you.

This would extra well with 1 snarer (druid or ranger) and 5 pet classes. You can pull 3 or 4 at once and take em out 1 at a time just make sure group is targetting the one you are holding agro on.

no, you will need a full well rounded grp to take one of these if u are tanking them. They hit for about 550, and sometimes quad. but with a druid or necro you can always aggro kite them....make sure u have a few pets on it, and high DoT's...and as a mage u can nuke it =D ....hope this helps.

As far as resists go, the level 63 Necro snare (resist mod of -20) gets resisted probably 1 in 5 times. Other than that, any spell with a resist modifier of -50 or more has never been resisted.

I have soloed these since 63, and wouldn't recommend doing it any earlier. At 65 without Blood of Thule, it takes me about 2 mins 30 secs (give or take) to kill one. They are good for a little less than 6% AAXP per kill.

As far as I have seen, they hit double and sometimes triple for 544 max not 575 (I think I've been hit enough in 2 levels and 7AAs to know).

Their run speed is definitely not faster than J-boots/Run3, but seems to be faster than normal mobs in the zone (Crawlers and Arachnaes). If you have a resist on snare give yourself plenty of room before re-casting.

Obviously, they are not fearable due to the fact that they are above level 55.

A good item to have is an Affliction Haste due to resists, however I don't have one and I do just fine.

Run3 is just barely faster. You'll get distance from the mob but you'll have to truck it a long way to be able to actually get a spell off without having to pray about channeling.

Rampage: No
Summon: No
Snare/rootable:Yes
Approx hp: 25,000

Hope this helps

My experience with them..

Just started soloing these guys with 4 chants and the occasional occlusion of sound, it took me roughly 8 mins (based on selo's needing refreshed 3 times) doing 320 a tick times 10 ticks a min times 8 mins = 25600 damage (roughly). For 100% aa gives around 7% and solo gives around 2-3% at 58.
Oh and they do proc that nasty dd, one lag spike and your probably dead if you are soloing them.

We camped these at the East wall ( EW ) last night with a full group of 6. They brought me in to slow and haste the melees. We chain pulled these with no chanter, only a bard for mezzes. We only had one death in 20 or so pulls as my malosini and slow failed to stick 2x. Most slows and debuffs stuck first try, really good since they are all red con to a 59 shaman. Id guess roughly 25-30khps as a JBB ( 263 DD ) only knocked off about 1% hp per cast.

As a bard you can solo them easely with the 5 DoT chants we have (I am currently 60 :p ). With the drum of the beast it takes me 12 minutes to get one down....4% reg xp and about 7-8% AA. I have never been summoned...
Hope this helps :) Good luck!

Wow...you can twist in 5 chants effectivly? Tell you what, next time try only 4 and see if there is a difference in the amount of time it takes you to drop a mob. I know there is a difference between 3 dots and 4, but i think once we twist in that 5th one, we're just wasting our time. By the time 1st dot wears off, you should just about be finishing the cast on the 4th one, so it's just about impossible to have a total of 5 bard dots on a mob at the same time.....unless you have more than one bard :)
RE: Brda
# Jun 02 2004 at 6:04 PM Rating: Decent
Acutally it is quite possible to twist 5...

Remember even though they only last 18 seconds... as long as you can recast it before you hit the next "tick" then then you wont miss a beat.

Probably the only downside to twisting 5 songs is that they sometimes wear off before you retwist.... making it harder to land the consecutive songs....

He is talking about twisting the 4 chants and the level 60 1 minute duration dot/slow Angstlich's Assonance.

They don't summon (at least, the ones in the wasteland don't). Masses of HP though, around 24K on the ones I actually counted nukes.

Somewhat resistant to fire/cold, little or no resists to magic. Dragged Voltaic Draught out and nuked 'em down. Works better then then Draught of Jiva (which seemed to grab agro 50% of the time because of the stun component I suspect).
Immune to stuns, but not changes in run speed.

I've heard they are pretty susceptible to Disease, but their MR is pretty high.
