You say, 'Hail, Dible Hedledrap'

Dible Hedledrap eyes you closely, sizing up your equipment. He looks up at you, clearly impressed. 'Well, _____. You have got some very nice equipment indeed. If you have a Perfect Garnet of Constitution, a Pristine Garnet of Constitution, a Perfect Sapphire of Insight, or a Pristine Sapphire of Insight, I can alter it to be more suitable for you. Also, it seems some of the strange minerals we sold have broken or stopped working as they should. Luckily, I can exchange a Broken Chunk of Coal, a Cracked Ruby, a Charred Pebble, and any others that don't work properly. I need to examine it first, though, so let me see what you've got!'

From December 18, 2003 patch notes:

- Purchased augments, that have not been bound to an item yet, can be sold back to Dible Hedledrap in South Ro.

- Broken Chunk of Coal, Cracked Ruby, and Charred Pebble are no longer valid augmentations. If you had these augmentations bonded to an item, you will find them on your cursor. You can take those items to Dible Hedledrap in South Ro and he will restore your adventure points.

- Perfect Garnet of Constitution, Pristine Garnet of Constitution, Perfect Sapphire of Insight, and Pristine Sapphire of Insight can be turned in to Dible Heldedrap in South Ro. He will replace them with type 8 versions of the same items.

I mistakenly purchased an LDoN augment that would not work with the armor I had. I hailed Dible, gave him the unused augment, and my Adventure Points were immediately refunded. I checked with the Adventure Merchant and my points were definitely refunded.

I tried to turn in an augment which would not fit any slot types I had. He told me he no longer gives full refunds and to go see the Adventure Merchant I bought it from, What the heck???
Arena?

As of 02/06/04, Dible has been spotted in the arena via track. Personally, I think he's outside the outer wall. Track led me to the wall and I climbed a pillar, but I didn't see him anywhere.
new exchange from Dible Hedledrap?
# Jan 27 2004 at 4:33 AM Rating: Decent
I recently hailed Dible Hedledrap, and he mentioned Pristine Garnets of Constitution, Perfect Garnets of Constitution, Pristine Sapphires of Insight and Perfect Sapphires of Insight.

If you'll recall, these have the following stats, respectively: +15 hps, +12 hps, +15 mana, +12 mana. He mentions exchanging them to be more to your liking. Any clue what he means by this? I have a hunch... checking lucy, I find two entries for these items, one says Augmentation Type: 7, one says Augmentation Type: All slot types.

Is this, then, a turn-in to exchange your slot-7 hp/mana augs for slot-all? I wish I'd known about this earlier, having blown a 15 hp aug on a bracer instead of putting it in slot-1 of my takish greaves. Oh well, I can always hope another drops.

Confirmation of this quest appreciated for someone who's gutsy with a Type 7 garnet/sapphire they're willing to turn in.

By the way, it appears he has different hail-text depending on who hails him. I'm not sure whether it checks for level, or whether you have time gear, or what, but I've seen two different hailing messages on the same day (as far back as December 7th, 2003 from my logs). One, for people who don't impress Dible for whatever reason is this:

Quote:
Dible Hedledrap puffs up his chest and lifts his chin with hearty arrogance. 'Greetings, *name*. It seems some of the strange minerals the Wayfarers Brotherhood sold have broken or stopped working as they should. Luckily, I alone have been tasked by Morden Rasp to exchange a Broken Chunk of Coal, a Cracked Ruby, a Charred Pebble, and any other pieces that don't work properly. I need to examine it first, though. Let me see what you've got!'

Time geared, level 65 people with quite a few high risk wins and probably an ldon raid win or two under their belt (not sure which of these are relevant) see the following message when they hail him:

I handed this guy a +12 mana aug that dropped in a lvl 65 normal adventure. He handed me back a +12 mana aug that was slot type 8.

Get this message with a lvl 59 shaman with substantial LDoN wins (but in MM/Mir, not Guk), so it is a bit less exclusive than you are guessing. :) However, I'm not sure of the point.. given that most every group has casters and melees, and therefore one of these augs will generally go to someone who CAN use it.

I guess it could be seen as encouragement for everyone to roll whenever one of these augs drops... not sure how great an improvement that is though.
