* Keldovan the Harrier

Keldovan is the first CoA boss players will meet who has received a large boost to not only his Melee, but also both Direct and DoT AE damage. This fight serves as an example of how important Rampage Tanks will be inside the CoA. Healers and DPS toons will not appreciate landing in his target area for this mechanic in this zone. He also boasts the first of many significant Hitpoint increases that will test the reserves of raids who come unprepared for endurance fights that can outlast a raid wide burn.

Keldovan's adds have received their own statistical boosts and will require teamwork to prevent them from overwhelming the raid while efficiently triggering Keldovan's de-powering mechanic.

Strategic Tip: Killing several of Keldovan's adds fully strips away his powered up forms and leave him in a less dangerous state. However, he will also do periodic checks on his adds and will begin to regain his powers if he finds that all four of them are alive.

Soloed last night with 86 mage. EM 10, all pet innate AAs available at my level. Chained RS pets mostly, replacing air pet whenever it died. Had to use a handful of harvest potions (from LoN), and one heal pot. Tried playing pet cleric first, but that didn't work. The fizzle AE hit me a couple times, but other than that nothing of note. I stayed just outside his room, him inside. Ignored the pits, never got any adds. Pretty easy actually.

No such luck on Jelvan :). (For completeness, since I don't see it here, though I'm sure most people already know: Orb is from beating this guy and Jelvan event.)

Also, if anyone's wondering, I used offline alts levels 81, 52, 25, 25, and 25 to get instance. So levels don't seem to matter.
Soloed by a 92 ranger..Dropped the ORB!

Killed him tonight (still had 5 others in expedition..but they zoned/ or logged already)..very easy fight..he has a decent amt of hp's, but didnt take long..at the end of the fight I was at 100% life/ 30% mana lol. Dropped the ORB!!! (yes the orb surprisingly!!..we had killed hanvar and did jelvan event before I went back and soloed Keldovan, so this might prove to be an easy strat for those tryin to get their 2.0 but cant keep people around to do the entire run lol...my party had left and I said wth..I'll kill Keldovan for fun..pleasant surprise for my friend who I was there for to begin with. He ran his *** off to grab it..so the orb..it can be added to Keldovan's loot table. Confirmed drop! Happy hunting!

Level 87 group of sk, enc, dru, brd, rng, and clr. I don't believe this info includes damage shield dmg on the SK, which probably would be about 400.

HP: 1760648
Took me 6 minutes to kill at 5k dps (didn't pull to pit, just rushed him)
Max hit was 3529, average was 1343.
He hit me 21% of his swing.s
4 toons .. :P

lol, some funny posts... this mob is easy these days with 4 :P .. SK agros, sticks in corner have your cleric healing, and bard meleeing, fight over, i didnt even need to use twincast with wizard. like other posts, didnt even need to touch the pit mobs.. they dont agro, and if they did all 4 plus named would be less than t4 named quading at 8k... hehe

reason to do all events in zone, its opens arch mage.. then you can yeild upto 3 orbs in 1 visit, yay! no coming back.... unless you play 4 :P

Was clearing trash to farm augs for a new cleric in our guild and he aggroed us ;/

Actually I nuked a ikaav and she summoned me to him heehee. I fded but cleric was on agro cause of a heal so I had to pop back up and tank.

And so he was duoed with 85 sk (PW) and 85 cleric (lilelilye). just click epic and chattering bones, second spire and such as they pop hehe. The biggest deal is to make sure your healer conserves mana if your dps is low.

Grow up L, grats Eond on a four man kill that is some good work >.<

Btw if you can do KTH there is no way you should wipe on ture. Hanvar is more of a dps issue due to his regen but I have done jelvan with mage sk and cleric so the argument that you could do KTH only to wipe to ture is , well... childish.

EDIT: btw i never mess with teh pit mobs unless ihavea nuker in teh group and rarely then >.<

In many posts we often see people stating what it took to take down a mob but I am really not certain why 4 x level 85 toons in the first place would bother trying to take down this guy? First off, it serves no purpose to kill Keldovan at all if all you were seeking is a Globe of Discordant Energy. Clear the way to Ture, then to Hanvar - plop... Globe. Taking out Keldovan servers no purpose. I also doubt you used 4 toons to take out Jelvan so why bother with this mob at all? Why would you use 6 toons to get into the raid instance and then only take in 4?

Oh wait, I get it, you took out Keldovan, but got wiped at Ture or Hanvar cause you just couldn't burn him down fast enough without the dps and eventurally ran out of mana. Maybe, maybe not - but honestly with four level 85 toons that probably all have their 2.0 epics long past, I still question what value your post offered other than to try to brag and boast how great your toons are and how you defeated a raid mob that was meant for level 70s.

Wow, we're impressed. Yes this post is negative but it is deserved. Why not explain "HOW" you pulled it off with just 4 toons? Why not explain that you were able to burn down the pit with your bard with spot heals from the shammy and the combination of the shammy and cleric with you made rebuffing easy along with the bard for over-haste and AE damages and the shammy slows? Why not try to go into detail for those that would actually come here for advice and not just read about how great and uber your toon is?

Why not explain how far you managed to get past this mob or where you stopped and why? Why not fill in the oddity of your maxed out toons with AC twice that of which this raid was designed for and explain what your goal was to be in this raid instance with only four toons to begin with or how it came to be? Where you a left over from a raid that called it after Hanvar and decided to take out Keldovan thinking he too would drop and orb and oops he didn't?

I question your reasoning in posting this at all other than wanting someone to saw, WOW, I'm impressed. Okay here it is, ya it is indeed impressive to do this with only 4 toons. So what, to what end? Want your cookie now?

Alas, I guess staying true to your signature you wouldn't want to tell anyone just exactly how you pulled this off, instead you beat your chest like an ape would and expect everyone to throw you bananas.

Your first post and it's a nasty one, devoid of any useful info eh? It's always interesting to see how players handle difficult encounters, regardless of whether in your mind they should or should not have attempted it. I'm surprised it took 20 minutes to kill this mob, with level 85 toons, which is one indication that maybe they weren't so uber. (Albeit, 4 toons as opposed to a full group, so considerably less dps might be the answer.) Also, I know groups have killed Keldovan WITHOUT engaging the pit mobs, just burning him down as he stands. I would have been interested in knowing what they did about the pit since 4 toons can't handle many targets at the same time.

Instead of knocking the guy for tackling a still-challenging mob with current-level toons, just ask him to provide more info without the wiseguy attitude. I mean Anguish is an instanced raid, everybody can get a shot, so it's not like some of the level 85 players who keep pharming Kunark and Velious dragons, just to sell the gear or tribute it, denying lower-level people the real challenge and FUN of killing old world dragons. Now that's a negative post worth making, the next time you feel the need to attack someone.

First of all this is an informational site. The more information people post the more information is available to the players who seek it. We were there on a mini run for my 70 cleric who I stopped to gear out with old school raid gear and we decided to give it a shot since we had taken down Rikkukin the day before with just the 4 toons. I appreciate your concern for us and your confusion over why we would pay to play a game then not do exactly what you would do with the same time in game, but having fun is my objective regardless of whatever the slave driver is directing you to do.

killed with just me 5 boxing today. actually i was 6 boxing but i left the wizzy out of fight and forgot to bring him in to manablaze at end which would have been nice since shammy and cleric both went oom at end. i ignored the pit mobs and killed him at full power.

6 boxed with:

warrior (group geared, all crystallos gear except for 2.0)
monk (group geared -- SoF tier3 visible, mostly crystallos visible)
bard (group geared, full crystallos gear + 2.0)
bard (TSS raid geared)
cleric (group geared, all crystallos gear -- doesn't have 1.5 or 2.0)
cleric (mix of demi, DK, TSS raid geared -- less mana than group geared cleric)

one bard just kept aria of innocence running on warrior for cures. clerics did CH chain for the most part tossing in radiant cure once in a while and the occassional group heal. Warrior used shield when defensive wasn't running. Saw lots of flurry messages, figure a lot of damage to keldovan was from bard DS.

Killed with 11 on Nameless. Two small family guilds of the Sigils and Ridgerunners and our first attempt, all moderately SoF-geared and with cultural gear. 2 80 Paladins, 80 druid, 80 wizard, 80 magician, 80 bard, 80 shaman, 80 beastlord, 74 necromancer, 80 magician, 80 enchanter. We had the bard kite Keldovan until he was susceptible slow. Wiped on 1st attempt and 2nd attempt we tried kiting him until weakened.

set up slowers, heal rotation, RGC curers, MT (shrunk) and SA (shrunk) inside the cell to the north west of the 4 way where he spawns. Designate 1-3 ppl as constant RGC on the MT to avoid Keld doing a 180 during the fight due to aggro loss from MT from the single person curse he will get. We put 1 bard in the MT group for AOE regen, AC, and Dmg Mitigation songs and he has those all running.

Position remaining raid DPS, (all remaining bards also), plus one DPS Pit Group in one of the pits, we use the South East one but any of the four will do. One of the west two pits might be more optimal to avoid Keld adding to the DPS aggro generated by the fighting going on in there.

HOT the puller and the MT, Heal rotation starts, puller tags Keld and swings him around north to the jail cell. MT times the jail door opening to his needs and tags and brings Keld to the NW corner inside the jail cell. Healers, slowers, and others will be positioned on the south side of the jail cell. Have a backup puller designated and ready in case the puller gets tagged by Keld as he is running him to the cell. This avoids Keld adding to the DPS team.

DPS group with raid DPS takes down first five spawns inside that one pit and one person calls out in /RS what the count is. At the same time slowers and healers and MT are getting Keld pushed and positioned into the Kill corner.

After the 5th kill in the pit, Raid DPS moves out of the pit and to the jail cell to DPS Keld AVOIDING aggroing other mobs from the other three pits. The pit DPS group remains in the pit and takes down more spawns until the fight is over and no more spawn. This prevents pit mobs from chasing ppl up the stairs, killing thin AC ppl, and adding to the Keld jail cell.

Raid DPS does their stuff since by this time Keld is positioned correctly and already has a few ppl on DPS. RGC ppl continue to spam RGC on the MT and are prepared to switch to the SA in case MT goes down.

Keld is probably the simplest boss mob to prepare for and those few ppl in your guild/pickup raid who have a difficult time following complicated scripts should have no problem here.

Just leave one grp down in the pit. After you killed 5 adds run up out of pit but be careful not to agro Pit mobs and then join rest of raid on Keld. Might get one or two more pit dogs that will run up but no big deal. FYI after you killed the 5th pit mob you can slow Keld lot easier.

Yo DJ the staff is primary only man, so you couldn't wield 2.0 + the staff as a necro. For this reason, a lot of clerics like it since their 2.0 is the secondary slot shield. I recommend a CoA or DoN dragon shield to go with your 2.0. Peace out and GL to you sir.

When KtH is agro'ed there are mobs that spawn in the pit near him. Beyond that I have 0 clue on the encounter and would like some help if someone could. Questions... Do all 4 mobs in pit run out and help KtH? Or can they be killed 1 at a time if u left a grp or 2 down in the pit area. New to CoA and would surely like a little help. Thank You in advance for your time.

Don't tell anyone, but they're staying in the pits if you don't bother them :)
On the other hand, you cannot slow KtH untill a few (random) dogs are killed, so you better put everyone on ONE dog-killing (they repop asap) at the begining, then leave one group to keep it busy and kill KtH... The AEs are more of a problems that the dogs, really :)
