dynamis is, as the new CoP story line will reveal:
(if you dont want story spoiled dont read on)

Celestial Avatar Diablos's Dream. it is a false reality from the great war showing how Vana Diel would be if the Beastmen won the war.

Just more cause I can't reply to things A. there is a story line but it deals with the Shadow Lord basicly after you do 5-2 and reach level 65 is when you can start them (well one can enter but most require you to be 70+) Sorry don't want to ruin the story.

As for what to call it AF 2 or Relic does it really matter? I call it relic cause many use AF1-6 for their first AF armor/weapon. So relic armor just helps me tell the difference though which ever you call it doesn't matter.

Relic has a chance to drop from all mobs but you normally kill these to help increase the time you can be in there. (I got my Wyrm Greaves off of a regular mob) I was lucky and a group let me go at 66 and I have to say it was loads of fun and even more I can't wait to start doing them again.

Nobody can gauge the level of Dynamis Mobs.

In the past, level calculations were done based on how much XP was received at the end of the battle.

That cannot be done in Dynamis, as no mobs give XP.

Mob Level has always been a yardstick by which to measure experience gained, not as a measure of mob difficulty. People wipe out in Dynamis ALL THE TIME, entire alliances of level 75 players at a time, usually as a result of a bad pull or an avatar 2hr, not to mention the fact that the dynamis raid is often facing 10-12 mobs at a time from every pull (it's just how it works).

Dynamis is a huge XP black hole, but that's the price of Relic weapons and Artifact 2 sets. (yes there is a distinction).

Heh, no -- or maybe yes just from a storyline aspect; I've long forgotten the plot behind it all. Here's some more useful info:

Dynamis is the FFXI equivalent to EQ's plane of Fear, Hate, etc.. For those unfamiliar with the EQ analogy, Dynamis is a special instanced zone designed for mulitple alliances. The requirements for success vary depending on what you define as success and by which Dynamis you do. Some are FAR harder than others to win. There is a unique and different Dynamis zone for every city, plus one for Beaucedine and one for Xarcabard.

Getting a Dynamis win typically takes ~36x75 players that are skilled at Dynamis. It's a different set of skills needed than playing in an XP group. The fewer level 75 players you have, the more people you need. The more Dynamis "newbies" you have, the more likely you'll wipe out a ton and not get much progress at all regardless of their level. The only jobs that can contribute effectively under 75 for dynamis are whm (heals/regen/raises), smn (blink/stone), and nin/war (blink tank for statues). I pretty much don't count anyone under 75 as worth much when doing a Dynamis, though.

If all you want is to try to get some AF2, you could go in with perhaps 12x65. If you have a good puller and a pair of good RDM for sleeps, you might see perhaps 1 AF2 item drop every fourth trip or so. AF2 is rare. On full clearings (win+farm), I generally expect only 2 AF2 items to drop; 12x65 might be able to clear 20% of a city.

It costs $1M gil for each Dynamis. You buy a special item for $1M gil (the hourglass), then give copies to all the people you want to bring along. Then you enter and start killing. There is a 60m time limit with extensions for up to about 180m total. You get the extensions by killing special critters scattered across the zone.

i call all the armor relic cus artifact 2 is confusing, ppl think its the second piece of AF
confuseld
# Aug 25 2004 at 3:21 PM Rating: Decent
i thought the relic armour ( or as other ppl call it, AF2) dropped of ordinary mobs in dynamis aswell? or do u need to fight certain NM's. that would suck.......
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 11 2004 at 12:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't get why people are calling it Relic where the only relics are the weapons. The armors are called "Artifact 2" and not relic. And from what I've been hearing, it's only dropped by the NM's and that's it. What sucks is, to get all of the pieces, you have to farm all 4 cities to get it.
No

No, its more like Level 80, it varies from 80-95; this is a Dynamis Monster which is fought inside Dynamis to obtain Relic Armor.
