You can no longer get the title Sandworm Wrangler from the sand worm.

You can still get the title, it's just getting people to actually kill it as opposed to waiting for Doomvoid. He bugged out on our server earlier this week and would not Doomvoid. One of the JPs in our shell had been talking to a GM about the issue.

After an hour of trying to make it cooperate by feeding it TP, we decided to kill it, and we all got titles. Not sure what the issue was since it was the JPs talking about it, but we took our time killing it with Aero and Banish hoping the Doomvoid would come, but never did.

Had an alliance of 16 ppl and we took this worm on in Batallia Downs [S]. Pretty powerful NM and he runs really fast. He was a fun fight and dropped the extra rare earth crystals x2 ftw!!! We were fighting over them. lol

I just soloed this as RDM/NIN in North gustaberg [S]. Pulled with gravity, ran to the campaign fort and ran in circles around the fort. W.legs are not needed. Kept bio3 and poison2 on at all time. Slow was impossible to land, and it built quick resistance to gravity. Bind landed about 50% of the time with 322 enfeebling skill +8 magic accuracy and was only used when I needed to convert. Took about 4:30 hours to take down. Unfortunately, it dropped absolutely nothing. Gives the title Sandworm Wrangler. I definitely don't recommend trying to solo it unless it's purely for the challenge of it.

I, too, have to call ********* It takes the best players on our server full aliiances to hold this thing long enough to get it to use doomvoid. . .

Wow you guys must have some weak RED's on your servers if you think this cannot be soloed, this mob rips up dd's an tanks but is very succeptable to magic and can be beat easily , albiet takes awhile by 4 blms so not suprising that a red can kite d.o.t. it, dont be so quick to judge what can be accomplished by a good RED, or a few skilled BLM's.

I'm sorry, but I have to call ******** on that one. There's no way you can solo a level 88 mob with the moves this thing has.

List of TP moves:

* Extreme Purgation: AoE ability which drains *all* buffs and debuffs, transferring them to Sandworm (except sigil). Also causes BST pets to become uncharmed and jug pets to despawn.
* Desiccation: Consumes all job abilities in a small cone area around person with hate.
* Dustvoid: Removes all equipment from single target.
* Aeolian Void: AoE Blind and Silence.
* Slaverous Gale: Cone shaped attack causing plague and slow.

Desiccation is not a problem because 2 hour is not needed. Extreme Purgation is not a problem because the only buff I kept on was utsusemi. If it absorbs shadows, a simple diaga will strip them. Dustvoid is a non-issue. Aeolian Void is probably only used at very close range. I believe Slaverous Gale is only used at very close range, as I was hit by this once in the whole fight. Besides, when you kite Sandworm around the campaign fort, you actually have to slow down every now and then because it tends to lose aggro and go unclaimed constantly, which means if you are the sligthest clue what you are doing, close range TP moves like Slaverous Gale and Aeolian Void should be used very rarely.

Sandworm being level88 is absolutely meaningless. Poison2 landed easily, and bio is unresistable and this is all you're going to be using on it.

I totally believe it. A friend of mine, on Seraph, watched a RDM solo it himself.

I just formed an alliance a few days ago to take it down. In all honesty, its not that hard with the proper tools to kite it.
We weren't built to kite it, so we lost twice (but enjoyed it!) I was there as Brd/Nin, (and my nin was underleveled so I didn't have Ni) I had tanking hate from buffs often, and would be staring that thing in the face with ichi shadows. I was the longest lasting front liner in the first run despite this.. I even parried a few attacks.

The point is.. blink tanking this **** is cake, barring it's WS. It's WS are the only danger. A Rdm/Nin has all the tools it needs to kill a Sandworm.

..If Mazurka still pulled huge hate, I'd have kited this thing to it's death so easily! >_<

Don't be so sure that nobody can solo this mob. I've seen videos of RDMs soloing Genbu, Seiryu and various other HNMs levels 80-90. It takes hours but they've been done. Just need to be RDM/NIN and be able to land spells on a consistant basis. If you still doubt go to youtube and type in RDM Solo and you'll get a bunch of RDMs soloing random stuff. Some of them are edited so they can be dubious but there are a few that aren't edited, just sped up so you can see the whole fight in a short amount of time.
Anyone saying 4 people killed it
# Feb 16 2008 at 2:45 AM Rating: Decent
Need to get off that crack. 4 people will end up dead in a matter of moments. My alliance had like 12 people and it took 2hrs and much deaths. We got an earth crystal (WOOTZ!) and 262gilz.
drops nothing

Apparently it pops out of Maw's..... I seen it in ballita downs, Sau. campaign, rolanderry fields, West saurabuta. All of the times it was killed, **** dropped.... so that fang and shell either do not drop until till next update, or are sythesis materials for a ridiculous godly armor.

BTW NPCs in the cities talk about these NMs... they talk about the Peiste NM, and an NPC in san d'oria (past) talks about a giant worm and saying it ate many soldiers.

Also if you go to an NPC in the regular san d' oria (future).... she is a scientist that studies exist animals like ladybugs and giant sandworms... Maybe if you bring her his items, she will reward you with something..

I also tried going to the NPC in the past with the sandworm title on, and nothing happened. no idea what the hell its for then, it pops in every area, and drops nothing.
Sandworm fun

I Came acrossed this thing last night in West sarutabaruta S. Well i checked it and i was going to poke it but being a taru war i was all f that. So i told some other people about it and we got a group of people ready to kill it. This thing was nuts. We did well at first but about 1/2 way into the fight it started spamming silence and taking buffs. Both Plds died so we just ended up playing tag kiting this thing around. Well then tanks came unweakened and we killed it. Yay Asura. lol :P

And what did we get to show for all this hard work and coming together. Lol a whole 62 exp and about 160 some gil. It was fun and nice to see people come together to kill it. So thanks to all who came out. I hope you enjoy your new title. :)

Fought this thing with about 16 people alliance.
- Aggros by SOUND not sight. I was able to run around it and poke it with sneak up.
- Ability to absorb your buffs and job abilities active including 2 hours, that's right job abilities, it reset your 2 hours if havent used it too, my Benedicition was reset and counting down when I got to close and it did this move.
- drops are rare and gil too. We got NADA after we killed it.
- Gives you the Title: Worm Wrangler when you defeat it.
- They say a NIN/WAR RDM/NIN RDM/NIN trio it for 2+ hours ftw but they must have had extra help because the beast hits hard and absorbs your buffs and abilities so those RDM probably had some serious refreshing themselves and the NIN kept hasted.

I would classify it is just below an HNM because of it appearance regularity but higher than a normal NM due to it difficulty on killing it.
its big, ugly, and pink!

Ok so i saw this giant on my way to campaign battle in west saratubaratu. Impossible to gauge he checks. 3 other lvl 75's and myself (lvl 60blm) decide to take it on. Well we got pwned lol. So we shouted for help and managed to get a 3 party alliance of lvl 60-75 mostly 75's. This worm cast ni! well long story short an hour later we finally beat this beast. And do you know what we got for our deaths, de-levels, and teamwork? Not a damn thing thats what!!!!! The worm didnt drop anything, not even gil! All we hafto show for it is the lame title "Sandworm Wrangler". I know its not uncommon to get screwed over in this game but this takes the cake! Thanks For the @55 Rape S.E!!!!!! I want next months fee's waived lmao!!
