I just helped someone do something in the dunes (dont remember what) so im walking to sandy as my DRK (40- at that time) and i walk up an edge to see a ram standing there , so i attack as anyone would do and deal 1/3rth of its hp gone. So i use a weapon skill and hit it again after , it dies and then i figure out it was an NM, it wasnt stronger than a normal ram (to me anyways). So if you can beat a tremor ram in the highlands or something you can take this guy to ^_^

I was taking my happily leveled mnk (18) back to sandy to change back to WAR....Im on the road...then all of a sudden a ram (at least to my knowledge) spawned right in front of me....0.o i thought it was just a ram until i saw its name, and i ran home to sandy crying cuz I wasn't in my WAR shoes. ; ;

I will have my revenge!!!!

my story is one of luck, and warning

I was hunting rams, and whipping a lvl 53 rdm with my widescan :D when i saw this Lumbering fella nearby,i quickly checked this site and found it to be 29-29, being a level 33 ranger i felt cocky and attempted to kill it. After one shot, i swore very loudly. I knew i was dead, i though it would be close. Just when all hope was lost, a cure II comes out of nowhere, with that in mind i quickly use my flaming arrow and Eagle Eye Shot and bring him down, got the horn to, thank you lvl 30 whm wherever you are.

Many months ago I run across him. I wasnt camping him I was just passing thru Latheine. I had no idea he was an NM and just assumed he was "just like that big ram that dropped all those skins in Highlands". Well as soon as I engaged and got off my first hit I knew I was in trouble... 30pld... well somehow I got lucky and killed him... used 2hr all my mp and ended the fight in single digit hp. I still have the horn in my MH ^^ . Luck was on my side that day.

Any good WHM would have done the same, it's nice to hear about something like this nonetheless. I hope it encourages you if/when you become a WHM/PLD/etc to help people out as well.

saw lvl 38 RDM taking on it but wasn't going well

she hit it for 9-10 pts

it's hit her for 45 pts or more...

anyway we are on chocobo with another smn...

i always wanted to kill it just for the heck of it..

until we saw the RDM cast gravity on it and the try to sleep it.. ^^

as soon it's sleep smn and I dismount just as the target turn to nutral i voke it and claim it easily...

Not sure if the RDM would thank me or hate me for it thou...

I agree with Furychaos. I was trying to get the horn for a quest, I would have been ticked if some snatched it from me.Some people don't just camp nms for titles some ARE accually doing it for quests.

Your a straight up ******* for that move, why not ask the SMN to heal him and just let the RDM have it. Not like the drop is a million bucks.

I was running through La Theine looking for rams to kill for a lanolin cube when I saw him. I was a 35 PLD. I got slammed. Two-hour and all. Fight was going well, at first, got him down to half health, started curing myself, then he kicked it up a knotch. He lowered my max HP to 113, then he petrified me, didn't take much longer for me to die.

I was coming back from a Promy mission in Dem, I decided to get the Lumbering Lambert horn thing since I got the Rampaging Horn last night. Didn't take long before I decided to log. But then I see this sheep roll by.... and it WAS NOT a sheep O_o This Monk and Mage were standing right by Lumbering Lambert, probably in the higher levels, didn't attack it (wore AF). So I just jumped in and grabbed it, not willing to pass this up. Now I'm unsure as to why they didn't attack it, but I WAS wearing leveling 30 gear, since I just came back from a Promy mission and was anon so (actually level 50 Monk/WAR) >.>

D'oh, I found that guy after a frustrating Ram hunt. No rams, couldn't find a single one, then I saw him and think:"Yes, finally!", I target him and see his name.. I decided to attack him and it was okay for me as a 37DRG/WAR. The dmgoutput of both of us was at about the same level. Then he petrified me when he was at 1/5 of health >_> I just think damn but my pet killed him and I got the horn and 3 Ram Skins. I was quite happy, it was my first nm after a long time XD

He shares the same spawn slot as the battering rams. there are 2 of them (one is north east of the spawn shown on map. The battering rams spawn every 10 mins. Just keep beating them down til he spawns.

I haven't fought him yet, but i fought his Konschat brother of the same level. 45Thf/rng. I had no real problems, but i advise that if your job can use Bloody Bolts, then use them! subbing rng for sharpshot is always a bonus too^^

I am not exactly sure what the deal is with this NM. At level 40~ DRK/WAR with an LS mate at 40~WHM/BLM we caught him running from Valkurm to Ronfuare. Naturally we engaged, thinking it was a normal ram, which we farmed regularly anyway. Given this was probably a year or so ago, the stats might have changed, but he made short order of us. Benediction used, which I tried to counter-hate with Provoke/Berserk/Last Resort/Blood Weapon/Weapon Bash/Stun/Whatever WS I had.. and I threw in some nukes/absrb spells. Didn't work...

About 2 months ago this monster wiped out at least 20 if not 30 people on the sylph server...
most of them died in one hit...

i was lvling a subjob and almost ran into it... luckly someone told me about it right before i turned a corrner... how did someone zone it from the spawn point to the raunfaere zone???

anyway a lvl 50 guy came and killed it...
high causualty rate though... kinda hilarious!!
HA! petribreath misses sillygoose!

Ok you won't believe this, but today i had a wierd feeling that lumbering lambert was gonna be there when i got to la theine (dunno why but i did, honest). So i put all my decent gear on (lv35 mnk) took a kabob and set off down on my big chicken.

When i got there i ran down the ram spawn areas...no rams on widescan. i then started to run back up the spawns, hit widescan, and hes there!! i get there as fast as possible, dismount choco, and engage. I then hundred fists-ed it to near death (about 1/4 hp). it then readied petribreath, so i used backhand blow, putting him at the tiniest sliver of health ever. I was GUTTED, knowing how long petri breath lasted when i tried rampaging ram at lv32 ;_;. BUT IT MISSED!!!!! :D:D:D i then one-punched him to the ground XD.

I think a 30-32ish MNK could probably solo this too, but its way too risky as he will probably use Great bleet or Petribreath which will most likely last long enough for him to beat you to death, as it almost did for me against rampaging ram (thank god someone helped me :D).

he did about 200 dmg to me altogether btw.

yeh, i'm a 32MNK/WAR and i solo'd this beast while i was escorting a friend, Demontaru, back to San D'Oria after he done the subjob quest. Tough fight though. The damage I was doing was slightly higher than his per hit and the MNK hp was holding out, everything was fine until he used petribreath (I never fought him before, so I wasn't ready for it:( ). It was when my hp went red i thought "If I die, demon's gonna get owned". I was gonna tell him to run but the perti wore of and a combo finished him :D.

Killed it easy as 44pld had a bit trouble but cureIII took care of it. No drop >< . Watch out for Bloodtear though...one time i was camping lumbering and regular rams and i saw one out of the corner of my screen and voked Bloodtear cause i was not paying attention. The 3 other people there all laughed at me and after Bloodtear went away they sat of my face and asked how thier butt smelled! Needless to say just watch for Bloodtear!

Killed this today, only just. It was quite far out of its spawn area (I've noticed this a lot recently with Rams) at western G-8, and it hadn't been out long (was second from bottom on my Widescan list).

I love killing Rams, but this thing don't half hit HARD. It will swipe at you three to four times in a row. Lumbering Lambert is 10 levels my junior but, damn, it was a struggle. Gave me 12 exp and I'm a level 38 Red Mage, used underlevelled Ranger sub (7) for farming. If you are waiting for this to spawn, it's a good idea to have a White Mage around when you're fighting it - especially in consideration of Petribreath.

#21 on my NM checklist!

I'm running through La Thiene or Konschtat, can't remember which, but saw it. Oh yeah, I'm a 13BLM and so I'm all walking around it. i was afraid to go to close to it because I didn't know if it aggros or not. And so these lvl 60s or 70s are fighting him and after 5 minutes it's dead.
Then I decide to do a hurray motion in front of it so it looked like I killed it. Well, that's all I got.

Must have been the rare HNM pop of ram... a lvl 60 could solo iLumbering Lambert in 20 seconds... a lvl60 WHM, I mean!

I posted under Lumbering Horn how to beat this guy if you're only a lv 30 rng or thf. I also just took out Rampaging ram as a lv 30RNG/15THF. I'll post details under Rampaging Ram.
RE: Solo
# Nov 23 2004 at 9:43 PM Rating: Decent
Well at lvl 30 a good way for rng to solo lambert is to use a crossbow (bloody bolts) and a good idea is to get at least over 100tp before u engauge this badass. (2hr of course) As far as thf goes its kinda sketchy but if u r comfortable with the risk of it being claimed u can start out with SA, (every little bit helps) id go 300tp with thf, and the usual 2hr. Personally id never attempt it with a 30 thf and from experience my 33 war got his *** kicked by lambert.
