The Leviathan first appears in the Book of Job, 3:4, and was later described as a giant sea monster that was said to be up to three hundred miles in length and capable of expelling from his mouth a level of heat so intense that the waters of the ocean would boil. It is said in Hebrew legend that, after the end of the world, the Leviathan will engage in a battle with the Behemoth and will kill one another. In alternate tellings of this legend, the Behemoth and the Leviathan will fight eachother, only to both be struck down by God. This page last modified 2012-08-20 13:50:47. |
