Historical Information

In Hindu mythology, Rama (short for Sri Ramachandra) was the seventh avatar of the god Vishnu, and was the prince and later the king of Kosala. Rama was married to Sita, avatar of Lakshmi, after proving his strength and ability by accidentally breaking the bow of the god Shiva in a test to string and fire it, which no other person was capable of doing. After their marriage, Rama exiled himself in the forest for fourteen years as to give up his right to Kosala's throne.

During this time of exile, Sita was kidnapped by Ravana, the Rakshasa monarch of Lanka, which forced Rama to wage a long war upon him. After slaying many of the Rakshasa over the years that the war ravaged, Rama eventually confronted Ravana himself. The two inflicted significant wounds upon another, with neither showing any clear superiority over the other, until Rama was capable of severing Ravana's central head (Ravana was said to have nine heads, with four radiating outward from his central head). However, a disgusting head, the representation of all the evil within Ravana, grew out in its place, to which Rama decapitates it, only for the cycle to occur again.

As nighttime pressed on, which fueled Ravana's powers, the god Vibheeshana informs Rama that Ravana had obtained a vial of the Amrita (see Amrita), and while he had not consumed it, he had stored the vial within his stomach, which was the reason that the heads continued to grow despite his attempts to cut them off. Rama, taking this knowledge, praises the sun god Aditya, then summons the great arrow Brahmastra, the most powerful weapon in existence, and fires it into Ravana, destroying the vial of Amrita and killing him utterly.

After his victory over Ravana, Rama returned to Kosala and took his place as its king.

we did this in 7:50 minutes. The RDM was too close when he 2houred and he got killed, but we raised him and ended up winning in the long run. Everyone ran @ 50% and he 2houred my Fenrir avatar. It was fun. I can't wait to see his staff. It's a good bragging right.

I just got done soloing Ramuh, I feel like playing SMN now lol. I never got em cause BST took most of my time. RDM75/37NIN can solo it by the way. I think maybe PLD/NIN can too although PLD are weak to magic, no barstuff either... hmm maybe BLM...but I cant see a BLM tankin, perhaps THF/NIN with the crazy evasion and blood bolts, who knows...but it's hard to solo an avatar with no defensive spells. I'm going for Garuda next, so far Titan Shiva Leviathan and Ramuh have fallen by my blade.

Difficulty with mini-Ramuh?

Hi all. Just wanted to share what I went through with this guy. The guides listed on this site have been fantastic, btw, as well as the guide on KT Summonor. Using them have made these Avatars fairly easy but some folks have been having a little trouble at first using the instructions so I wanted to maybe add a couple of suggestions.

As we all know (thanks to those guides) is that Ramuh usually will start off with Thunderspark and paralyze you and carby. Many folks have posted that they cast the first carby, at or near the crack, get agro, then immediately run away, cast paralyna <me>, then prepare to cast a new carby, yag drink, then AF + SL. What I have done lately, which was also posted previously, is actually cast Carbuncle at the bend, way before the crack (this lets me run up to the assault range without agro), then i /pet assault, then run away as fast as i can to avoid thunderspark. I run to the bend then paralyna (if needed), then I continue running to the crystal to recast carbuncle.

When the first carbuncle dies, I then recast a carbie, pop a yag drink, use a hi-potion if i need to (usually dont need it at this point), then i wait for him to come to me as much as possible or wait for carbuncle to charge him. As soon as I am in melee range, i then hit my 2hour and then searing light then run up to the top of the bend and prepare another carby. If my existing carby is healthy (50% hp or more) I run to the middle of ramuh's pit. If he's low on hp I get ready to cast a new carby at the top of the bend.

Once I get a 2nd carb out I run back down to the crystal or the bottom of the bend if carby's health is low, and pop an ether and get ready to recast carby again. If i get all the way to the crystal and carby is healthy I actually do a /pet release and resummon. Some folks said not to do this but I would only do it for this scenario to save some time on your 2hour. Once a new carby is out check ur mp, and pop SL agian soon as he is in melee range.

At this point run as fast as u can back up top and chances are, while u're on the bend, he will judgement bolt carby and kill it. Soon as he does u need to recast another carby fast, pop another ether, and hit another hi-potion if needed and actually tank it for a moment so that carby gets agro. Remember, this is at the bend, and only if carby is dead from judgement bolt. If carby isn't dead then run all the way to the pit and pet release and resummon and check ur mp/hp, potion if needed, and get ready for your last searing light and an easier win but usually much more expensive. The last searing light wont be ready for a bit so make sure u have saved at least a couple of hi-potions and literally tank ramuh (don't melee just stand there) and keeping hitting searing light until it goes off.

Doing this takes longer, so don't expect to win any records.. probably averaging close to 4.5 minutes.

Also, you will end up tanking at or near the end waiting on your searing light so make sure u have a total of 4-5 Hi-potions, 3-4 ethers.

You'll end up summoning about 5-6 carbies instead of the usual 3-4. After you get some practice with using your yag drinks and 2hours, it won't take long to follow the guide easier and trim down to 1 Hipotion and 2 ethers on a regular basis.

Sorry for the long post btw, and most of this was all explained in the guides forum. Just sharing here to help. Good Luck!

Good advice but can you break down the amount of potions and ethers and whatever else you've used so I can have a better understanding?

Ramuh Abilities
# Sep 26 2004 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
Just a quick question. When I received Ramuh as level 20, his ability Thunderspark was already available to me (even though most websites say not until 29), I figured that with the last big update one of the side notes was they changed the level of some avatar abilities. So does that mean, I have to wait all the way until 31 for his next ability (Group Enthunder) or have they moved that one as well?
# Sep 08 2004 at 5:59 AM Rating: Default

As a red mage i tried doing my normal debuffs on this guy.
Something to note, they are very resistant to debuffs. However i did manage to continually land a slow on this bad boy.

Also most of their personal buffs cannot be dispelled (like his lightning armor) but if you have barthunder up its damage should be negated.
# Aug 11 2004 at 9:21 PM Rating: Default
not hard not easy!
# Jul 21 2004 at 12:14 PM Rating: Decent
ok I fought him and he was easy! He used hit Thunderspark in beginning but I hit him with searing light first. so then when carby died I resummoned and did it again! its not hard just get timing down right. (I beat him first try and set record)
But one thing I gotta say is....between all avatars I fought so far this one is still the hardest

P.S. remember if u sub whm you got Paralyna ^_~

does he always cast Thunderspark (which paralyzes you and Carbuncle) at the beginning of battle? 'cause if he does, i really don't feel like wasting another 10k on him
Mini-Avatar Battles

RE: how
# Jun 09 2004 at 3:28 PM Rating: Decent
Just raise your fame in Windurst then go to Mhaura to get the quest. Talk to the Tarutaru first. If he gives you the Tuning Fork then talk to the person next to him. Person next to him will give you a mini Tuning Fork so that you can solo the avatar as a smn. Besure you trade the mini tuning fork to the crystal because if you don't, then you'll fight the high lvl one and you'll get killed very quickly.

RE: how
# Jul 06 2004 at 11:00 PM Rating: Default
you only need lvl 3 fame to get the mini trial quests. raising your fame enough to get the quest from the taru is a waste of time
# May 12 2004 at 11:43 PM Rating: Decent
yeah about this guy being easy, he sure isnt easy to solo , man i hate this guy ive fought him so many times and i died so many times, i think it may be impossible for me to even beat him
