Spaniard guy here ^_-

Olla - yeah, kind of pot, depends on the part of Spain, it can refer to one or other.
Hola - Hello, exactly
Ola = Onda - wave, ondulatory phenomenon. Ola is referred only to sea waves, while onda is referred to any wave.

as far a spronunciation for "olla" (pot in spanish), as read in spanish, this is only 3 letters. o-ll-a.

o=short vowel "o", kinda like an "aww" sound.

ll= gives a y sounding pronunciation. think of the song "Oye como va" (sp on oye?) there is NO english L sound associated with "ll". btw: the letter as named in the spanish alphabet is pronounced like "elle" (a-yae, long a-vowel beginning, with a yay at the end, though the second y in my not-so-phonetic spelling would be considered soft.)

a=short vowel a, giving you a sound much like that when saying "umm", just without the m's.

The word Olla Grande in my english not-so-phonetic-spelling is
"oya gran-day"

uhm. I'm not trying to be full of myself or anything but are the people posting about spanish words spanish?? lol.. i am. spanish first language and ola does mean wave.. not as in the wave hello and goodbye but as in the wave in the ocean. Una ola grande = a big wave olla means pot. hola means hello. why are people posting so sure that ola is not a spanish word. and on top of that... why is it such a big deal?? lol.. whatever it means this is a mob lets keep it to info about the mob maybe?? lol
Olla is not wave
# Jan 03 2005 at 10:17 AM Rating: Decent
To correct Huntershu, Olla is not wave, Olla is a pot, Ola= wave, so you were close.

so the name actually means Little pot, Medium pot, and Big pot respectively.

olla is the spanish word for pot. it makes sense since these are pot type mobs. pequena means small, media means middle or medium and grande is large.

just a quick correction Ola does not = wave either. As far as I know Ola isnt even a word. Hola (pronounced ola) means hello.
RE: Olla is not wave

Actually "ola" isn't even a word in spanish. As accurately menctioned above "hola" (pronounced ola) means Hello. "Olla" (I don't really know how to write in english the way it is pronounced) means pot.

Quote:
Mira amigo hablo espa񯬠y puedo decir que "ola" se dice wave en ingles...
In other words ola = wave

Let me say that maybe you know spanish, but at least you don't know either enough english or spanish to appreciate the difference between "hello" and "wave". It is not the same as in spanish it isn't the same "hola" and "saludar con la mano".

"Saludar con la mano" means "to wave", as there is not any word in spanish that means accurately "wave".

If anyone is interested I'll translate the post quoted above by me to let you know what I was answering to:

Quote:
Let's see, friend, I speak spanish and I can say that "ola" is wave in english...

Don't be as full of yourself.

By the way, Olla Grande, Olla Media and Olla Pequeña (yes, that "n" of Pequena should be that spanish character "ñ" instead) mean Big pot, Medium pot and Small pot respectively.

Edit: Some spelling.

Dude, "Ola" means wave, as in "sea wave", not "to wave". Olla is pot, and Hola is hello.
And if you want to argue about this, let me tell you I'm from Spain and I know way more spanish than you do.

Actually, "Ola" is indeed "wave."
RE: Olla is not wave
# Nov 03 2005 at 9:22 AM Rating: Decent
Again:

"Hola" (not Ola or Olla) means "Hello".
"Olla" means "pot".
"Ola" is not a Spanish word.

And I far as I know, "wave" is not exactly the same than "hello".

You are right, olla means pot but ola is a spanish word and it really means wave.

"Las olas del mar" --> "The waves of the sea"

OLLa is completely different from oLa.

(Anyways i found kinda funny the relations established in this tread with ola > to wave > hola XD)

This NM drops WInterstone, half of the items required to spawn Genbu, God of Water.

You actually have to kill 3 pots, each harder then the other back to back to back. Pretty simple just have blm's or drk's stun barrier shield and keep the pot away from the mages because AOE can one shot mages.

I suggest setting camp at one of the teleports so there is little change of add-on's during fight.

This NM is really not that bad...it doesn't have many hit points it seemed. When I went we had about 15 people with us. Used a NIN tank with two PLD as backup. The first time we popped it everything went find and we killed it no problem. Second time an Aura Pot popped on us and no one saw it until it had nearly wiped out our mage dept. Needless to say we all died, and all had to home point.
