i was expecting to wait aronud for this guy but when i got to the spot he was there already just standing there waiting to be killed slaughtered him and got the egg
If you listen to what the guy says in the quest he sees the crawler whenever he flies on airship so he spawns everytime the airship flys over so its not super lucky for you to see him as soon as you run by

so i was hunting this NM for the Fear of flying quest and he pops right when the air ship flys by. I cast all my buffs then throw a nice thunder his way. i start messin him up real nicely with my 32rdm/whm when all of a sudden i notice a second hit on my blazespikes coming from behind. I rotate the cam and what do i see? an EVIL WEAPON!@!@! so i freak and say to myself " o well i might as well try and finish off the crawler so when i die ill have the egg and it wont be for nothing." Unfortuneatly my plan didnt work out and i eneded up getting slaughtered. Then just to make things worse my internet goes down hahaha very funny router. But the good news was i logged back on and killed the stupid worm 2 extra times just for fun. It spawns like clock work every time the ship passes there he is. (droped an egg every time also an earth crystal on one of the kills with the egg)
easy fight as whm32/smn16 using a wand as weapon ^^
got the quest at around level 30,but was tentative about doing it,thinking that I'd need to be AT LEAST level 40.Got tired of waiting so I tried it as my Lvl38 White Mage/17 Black Mage.Solo'ed it with ease.Came into the battle with Protect 2 and Blink on only,and only needed a Regen and Cure II on myself.Ended the battle with 392 hp,56 mp.Fun fight though,Ill be killing that thing whenever Im bored I think =D
meh was going to the stone monument for that clay quest in Selbina. Well i ran into him on my choco so I ask my LS whether anyone knows if i can take him or not. No one knew so being my greedy self I get off an fight. I was 35 drk so i owned his *** all happy only to find its a quest NM -_- bleh i guess i will go do the quest later

well i was running around, trying to get through rolanberry without a chocobo, and i saw it, my brother got on another computer to check what lvl it was and he said just kill it, so when i fought it i had to use cure 3, 2 times and cure 2, 2 times and regen i had 78 hp left and no mp when i beat it and i was poisoned so i went from 78 to 34 hp..... i was only lvl 32 rdm, if i died i would delvl and if anybody wants to kill it i wish them Good luck
Killed this solo today - was exploring Rolanberry a-chocoback when I spotted this guy. Dismounted and it aggroed me pretty much immediately. ^^; As a LV35THF/13NIN, this was very easy. Used Utsusemi twice and even then it only got my HP into the yellow because it poisoned me.
This is a very easy NM... I soloed it as a 26 blm/whm... sleep, bind, blind, and aquaveil saved me and I had to use manafont... not likely that another class could solo it...

Sadly I had just about half my mp (pretty crappy since im mithra..like..125 mp as half? can't say I remember) Any way, was bored so I tried to kill em, needle to say, I died >.> Only whacked about half of his HP out of him.
Oh well, gave my something to laugh about.

I usually go outside to Rolanberry Fields to kill this guy for the Silkworm Egg, sells 244 gil just for 1 egg.Good for when your going to put something up on AH. hehe
This is a great NM if you are bored. It always spawns in the same spot, it is soloable even at Lv30, and the spawn time is 100% predictable. Simply go out to the spawn location, watch out for Evil Spirits and Evil Weapons, and wait for airships to pass overhead. Mind you, it only spawns when airships pass overhead flying from Bastok to Jeuno. It does not spawn when airships leave Jeuno towards Bastok.
The best part? The Silkworm Egg is a 100% drop, and it sells for a nice chunk of change at NPC vendors. However, be nice if there are others camping it for the quest...after all, it spawns quickly and predictably, so there's no reason to be greedy/grabby. ^^

This silk caterpillar spawn very frequently, I see it twice both time i passing through.

how much is quest item worth?
It'll show up in K-7 everytime the airship passes over. If no one attacks it, he'll despawn until the next ship flies overhead. Other than a quest item for Bastok, he doesnt drop anything that other crawlers dont also have.

This little **** aggroed and killed me when I first tried running to Jeuno... Grrrrr.. I was sooo close too

There is a quest called "Fear of Flying" which you get in Port Bastok. The Silkworm Egg is needed for that quest
