Actually, for those of us that know what mob stands for, you will know that all NPC's are MOB's. but not all MOB's are NPC's.
From a looooooong time ago we get the term mob by shortening the term "Mobile OBject". This can mean NPC's, Monsters, and technically the other players even.
But I realize that in recent times this term has gone by the wayside and it is MOSTLY used to refer to monsters alone. Just thought i'd add my 2 cents :)
Edit - Sorry Denielle, I didn't see your post until after I wrote this.. Don't I feel like a torama's ***.
[Rate Up] ^^ hehe, don't feel bad about not seeing my post. Anyone can help, just cause one person answered doesnt' mean someone else can't say something (^_^)
Close. From working on online games myself, and games in general, I can tell you why they are under mob!
Mob is short for the word Mobile, and in game programming, a mobile is anything that is not a player and can interract with players in some way. Whether it be fighting, or just talking and triggering events.
Thank you for clearing that up re: Mobs... my husband and I have been wondering for months where in the heck that terminology came from. Learn something new everyday. (^_^)
