Intulo in Bibiki Bay

    • If the Wide Scan ability is used, the placeholder for Intulo is the Eft that is not listed in a group of other Eft, but appears between a group of Ravens and Marine Dhalmels.

Intulo's Spawn Location
Intulo's Spawn Location

  • Respawn time is roughly 1-4 hours after its last ToD.

  • Will always spawn on, or at the base of, the ramp way.

Intulo Special Attacks

  • Geist Wall: AoE Dispel effect.

  • Nimble Snap: Single target physical damage.

  • Cyclotail: AoE physical damage.

  • Numbing Noise: Frontal cone physical damage with an additional Stun effect.

  • Toxic Spit: Single target Water based magic damage with an additional Poison effect.

Historical Information

In Zulu mythology, the Intulo was a part lizard, part human creature that was assigned by the creator deity of the Zulu people to deliver to them the knowledge that all life, both animal and plant, will eventually die. Intulo was given this task because the chameleon Unwaba, assigned to deliver to them the gift of immortality, moved at an exceptionally slow pace, thus annoying the deity. Because he did not want to defy the creator, Unwaba never divulged the gift of immortality to all life, and as such, Intulo is considered the bringer of death by the Zulu people.

so far i have fought this guy like 27 times (yes 27, when i have nothing else to do i spawn him) and am currently

1/27 eft skin (better drop rate on the other regular efts)

1/27 on curaga earring (currently about 30k on bahamut)

0/27 on magic slacks.

i really need to stop camping him.

i have found that his placeholder can spawn anywhere from the top of the ramp to the loop at the end of the dock. It is pretty easy to find where all the others spawn. Once you do learn then it's placeholder stands out like a sore thumb.

I tend to let them all spawn then train all them though. I do this because

1. a 70 red mage has nothing to fear from training them all.

2. a stack of eft skins sells for 40k on Bahamut

3. a H.Q. eft skin goes anywhere from 10k to 14k

totally not worth the time i invest, but easy to do.

Ok, i am 0/8 on this guy, either i have the WORST luck of all kind or there is something that this guy doesnt like about rdm's. I have gotten 4 earrings and 2-3 hq eft skins off of the other ones i have killed waiting for him. I've waited anywhere from 20 mins to 4 hours. I refuse to stay in one place for more then 4hrs to hope to get something i havent gotten in the past 32 total hours. On Sylph the earrings were going 17-20k a piece and the HQ eft skin was 4-5k each.

i'm 2/5 now with intulo. however, i disagree with one poster regarding place holders. i feel that there may be 2 ph's. the first is the one that pops on the ramp itself or on the docks. mind you, the one on the docks can pop slightly off of them, and roam into the midst of the others in the far corner. the second, i believe is the one that pops at the bottom of the ramp, right by the door.

the reason i think this is because i killed the one i agree to be the first placeholder, and killed the one i believe to be the second one just 5 minutes before it. the moment i killed the placeholder on the ramp, intulo popped. therefore, unless something crazy happened, there is more than one ph.

anyways, good luck and happy hunting!

so far 4 earrings, 2 slacks. grand total: $1.6mil
bow to my theify power intulo!

camped?
# Aug 18 2005 at 8:53 AM Rating: Decent
i was thinking that people would actively camp this little sucker for the pants, even with the bad drop rate... but both times i've passed by his spawn point hes sitting there and noone around to claim. first time i had some friends of mine along for the kill, a lvl 53 drg and a 51 rdm. We took it down really easily.. sadly all we got was 2 fire crystals and some exp. the 2nd claim i was wandering around in bibiki as a 14 drg and low and behold, there he is unclaimed yet again. i bp'd grabbed a 44 rdm friend and came back 10 minutes later to claim. still noone around. once again, just fire crystals and exp. nothing else. so yeah, thats my story. not very lucky with the drops, but surprisingly lucky on claims. ^^;;;;

**oh yeah, i was a 52 war first kill, 53 war second kill.**

So far, I'm 2/45 on Intulo with a total of 2 Magic Slacks (coming from the first 5 kills), 3 Curaga Earrings, and 2 Eft Skins. The past 31 kills I've gotten on Intulo have dropped absolutely nothing. The drop rate on this NM is ridiculous.

In any case, Intulo is on a 1-3 hour timer. Most of the time, he pops after only an hour. There is only 1 single placeholder for Intulo, and it is on a 5-minute timer. I usually kill the placeholder, then the Goblin Shaman that pops on the ramp for a timeframe reference (it is on a 5-minute timer as well). Intulo will only pop on the ramp, however the placeholder can pop anywhere in the area.

There are a total of 8 normal Efts in the area (1 at the foot of ramp, 2 on the water by the ramp, 1 by the "buildings," 2 on the land by the docks, and 2 on the docks). The placeholder can pop anywhere from up above the ramp (near the Marine Dhalmel) all the way to on the docks. Once you learn the mob spawns, the placeholder sticks out like a sore thumb and is easy to single out.

I've been hoping to get one last pair of Magic Slacks from this ******* to use for myself, but the drop rate is so ridiculous I'm about to give up. Hopefully others have better luck than me.

I'm 2/22 right now on Intulo...
I have seen him go 8.5 hours w/o spawning...
another time he went at least 6.5 hours and im assuming longer because the camper who was there when i got there apparently gave up and warped home...
so if your expecting him to pop w/in 2 hours
dont get your hopes up..
while most spawns are @ 2hour interval, it seems once a day he throws you off by not popping for 6-8.5 hours..

So I decide to camp this guy, i wait an hour no pop so i decide to ride the ship, end up taking me to anohter beach so i kill Vicuous Clots for a while and go back to other side of Bibiki Bay to log, I was heading towards the hill by the dock when i Saw him unclaimed, I engaged with about 900hp out of 1290 hp, It was close, i had 250hp at end and I got no drop, Next day I ran over there, killed Efts for about 30min and he popped, I killed again this time using MIghty Strikes Raging Rush for 1900dmg, no drop again. ><
Good luck ^^

So here I was, 55 pld/thf, killing efts looking for an HQ skin for gobbie bag 6, when all of the sudden I see this guy. I rest up to full, as no one else is around, and then take this guy on. Its a tough fight for a solo 55 pld, and it was looking like I was going to be on the losing end of it, when suddenly a 40ish thf came by, and we teamed up. Took a while to kill, but we did it, and got slacks and the earring. 480k combined on Bismarck. Fun fight, no campers, a good time was had by all ^^.

First off, there is only 1 placeholder. It spawns either ON the ramp, or as a third eft on the square portion of the dock. The respawn time is 5 minutes. You can kill all of the others all you want to, but that's the only placeholder. I've gotten him about 15 times in the past week, and all I do is kill that one placeholder.

Second, the spawn time, from what I can tell, is ~2-2:15 hours. I sub /thf, thus have to manafront to finish him, so the 2 hours is nice.

Third, he will spawn on the ramp. He can be anywhere from the top to the bottom, but he spawns on the ramp. Also, if 5 minutes has gone by and the placeholder hasn't made an appearance, get ready...Intulo tends to spawn 7 minutes after the placeholder died.

Fourth, I suggest TH2...15 kills, 1 curaga earring, no slacks. Heck, right now I'm on a streak of 4 kills without anything, not even a skin or an egg.

This nm is rarely camped, and for good reason. My friend is 1/50 on the slacks, it's very, very rare. Good luck, you'll need it.

I don't think it is a 100% chance for him to pop after you killed the placeholder. I killed a 3rd eft on the square 15 minutes ago and he hasn't popped.
Nice NM ^.^

this NM has been realy nice to me im 2/3 on him. I was just going to go fishing on the manaclipper when i ran into him i didnt realy expect nething killed him prety quick as rdm63/whm31 only dropped an earring the next day i come back for more fishing (its fun u gotta try it) and there he is again killed him and got the slacks v(^.^) after a few trips on the manaclipper i come off to head back to town and there he is bagged him yet again for another pair of slacks =D must been the taru charm that convinced him to give me some slacks ^.~

Doubtful. You could try, but it'd be fairly rough. A fellow BST and myself, the one leveling in the area, took him on.. I was only 34 at the time. He slaughtered me. Don't know why, but he -hated- me. I raised and played as healer for my friend, who was out of MP.. He managed to kill it solo as a 45~, but it took several pets. I'd say 10 or more.

So...you might be able to, but it'd be -very- rough.

Alright, I'm quite convinced that this NM does NOT indeed, drop the Magic Slacks.. I'm currently 0/19 on it and have only gotten about 7 Curaga Earrings (which I've started selling for 10k/each). Most all of those kills have been with TH1 although most will say that doesn't matter, it's nice getting decent drops while killing placeholders.

So.. can anyone offer a good screenshot of them getting the drop or give any good advice about it? Nobody ever camps it on Remora and I wouldn't either due to the droprate, but now it's personal, see.

I have noticed that it seems to have one placeholder which spawns with all the other Efts. Every now and then you'll notice a single Eft high up on the ramp, or closer to where the gobbie spawns. You'll notice a third Eft out on the square dock sometimes, but never at the same time. So.. I think you could get away with just killing the one PH but frankly, I made more profit tonight killing the Efts (2 HQ Eft Skins, 1 stack of skins, and 2.5 stacks of eggs totaling 200k)

I was camping it against a RDM earlier tonight. He was a ways up the ramp and I was at the ledge at the bottom looking up the ramp spamming provoke. I see a red dot on my radar off to the side and it comes just barely into my field of vision. Grrrr, another eft ******** up my camping.

Then I notice the name, it's Intulo and he had spawned to my left and slightly behind me completely off the ramp.

Intulo spawns around the ramp area but it by no means always spawns at the bottom of the ramp. I saw that tonight with my own eyes.

Well I was wandering around bibiki at LV38 BST getting ready to warp away, when all of a sudden Intulo pops. I fought him the same style as before and with a bit of luck I killed him after 15 minutes. These were the drops. One of the best fights of my life :D I'm really proud.

Pre patch Intulo spawned every 1:00-1:30 hours and seemed to have a day off on lightningday.

Now post patch i've been waiting over 8 hours with NO pop. Another time i went there and waited 6 hours without a pop and since the patch i only saw him once.

pre patch i was 6/8 (1 slack, 5 earrings)
Others seemed to have rather bad luck with drops and i thought i finaly found a way to make some money for a few high priced but wanted items but now...waiting 2-8+ hours for a 50% drop rate isn't too good anymore.

EDIT: Went there and again, no pop for 7 hours. I was so (censored) that i logged off only to come back 30 minutes later to check a last time and there i saw a japanese Drg/Whm i talked to.
It's realy incredible how nice most of the japanese players are.
After asking him if he was here for the NM he said yes and after i told him hiw long i waited he showed me something i'd call a trick to make him spawn. Although i'm not sure if i got what he tried to explain to me (i have to learn japanese) i'll go ang give it another try.
