Tres Duendes' Special Attacks
Historical InformationA duende is a fairy- or goblin-like mythological creature of Spain, Portugal, and Spanish-speaking areas of America, though analogues of the duende appear in Danish, French, Irish, Welsh, Swedish, and Scottish folklore as well. In Hispanic folklore of Central America and the American Southwest, Duendes are known as gnome like creatures who live inside the walls of homes, especially in the bedroom walls of young children. They attempt to clip the toenails of unkempt children, often leading to the mistaken removal of entire toes. They also to be known for taking items from young children. In Spanish, the word Tres means the number three. As such, Tres Duendes would mean Three Fairies or Three Goblins

did CoP 2-3 a week ago with the liinkshell,
and after we owned the minotaur, I (the only rng in the pt) widescaned and tracked this guy down, a succesful carby pull, we pulled him and killed him with a pt of 12 and its trubulance dropped about 6 members, so i guarantee he is a heavy hitter, this was when he had like no HP and then i Eagle Eye Shot the carp out of him, and he dropped the dagger and claws, Me and our mnk got the prizes, rare/ex dagger looks like a crossbreed of hawkers and trailers kukri. nice addition to my ******* of Fransisca, Chiroptera and Hornetneedle

Our party of 6 killed this tonight. NIN, DRG, RNG, RDM, BLM, WHM (All Lvl 40, of course). We used Shadowbind on the bats, then killed the fomor first -- very smooth fight. Unfortunately, absolutely nothing dropped, not even a single bat wing.
Does anyone know the respawn on this thing?
Is it lotto or timed?

pt of 9 killed it - bst - mnk - nin - brd - thf - rng - whm - rdm
kill the pet formor first. he's a blm job. he's much weaker than the bat, he's around level 45 because he used stun. use bst jugs and smn avatars to hold off the bat while you beat the formor up. the formor will die quickly.
once the blm pet is down, the hard part of the battle is done. the bat is around level 48-50 and has a lot of evasion. he spams sonic boom, got jetstream, and has another ability that is AOE accuracy down. being whm i ended up just making them live with the attack down effect due to the long cooldown timer of erase and i had to keep the focus on ninja tank.
the nm is not partied with any formor. just wait til its near the hallway (where its safe), and the other formors are away. the chances of unpartied formors of linking is not as high as the partied ones.
the nm dropped the nin katana, which in my opinion is highly overrated. the dagger is the much better drop but he did not drop that.

Tried to take them with a pt of 5, nin, nin, rng/nin, rng/nin, and me whm. Didn't pull far enough into the cave, fomor monk linked and destroyed us. However before we died we got the amoroso dead. Reraised, one of the nins was fed up and tired and went to hp, but after finally raising everyone again, we took on the bats, (amoroso didn't respawn, which I believe may be why some people find just the bats). I made the rngs take it slow, and it wasn't a hard fight at all, Barrage + EES from 2 rngs at the end to finish him. Dropped the Chiroptera, nin won the lot, which is good since rngs have hawkers anyway! The knife is def for the non-Hawkers jobs that use ranged attacks. An easy fight with a nin tank and patience.

This is a strange NM. It's a BST -BUT- The Tri-Bat is the NM and the Fomor is the Pet! This thing has the potential of killing an entire alliance, if you dont know how to kill it!

STRATEGY:
When you pull it, watch out for the 5 other Fomor in the Spawn room. They are in a party and will wipe you out, I dont care if you have a 18 person alliance or not, there's always a ******** in the PT, and that will ***** it all up. The NM itself and the Black Mage placeholder are not part of the 5-Fomor party. Beware when pulling, again. When you manage to pull the duo, have everyone target the fomor, or have 1 person distract the bat while everyone else targets the fomor. The faster this fomor is dead, the better. It spams AoE's that get rid of anyone's blink really quick.
I was in an alliance when I wasn't too experienced on this NM, we all targeted the bat, thinking it was the pet, the AoE's tore us apart. Later, about a week after this, my awesome LS and I went to kill it, 5 people. I shadowbound the Bat, and we proceded to kill off the fomor. our Monk Hundred Fists, that made it drop fast, just in time for my shadowbind to wear off. After this, we were safe to Utsusemi up and just had a long battle killing off the bat, trading hate. We didnt even have a tank for this, just a bunch of DD w/ NIN subbed. I think that was best so one person didnt have all the hate. When it died, I got my treasure - Chiroptera Dagger. Lv. 38 Rng Acc. +12. Just like a Hawker's +1 w/out the AGI and CHR buffs. It also drops Drain Claws (HP Regen) and the Niokiyotsuna katana (Triple Attack %+). This is an easy NM if you know what your doing, but it's funny that it was so hard for us before my LS's trip.
The spawntime I'm not sure of though, it seemed to be up every other day, since I spent a week going down there every night. I've never actually camped it, but it's placeholder when not up is a "Fomor Black Mage". Maybe killing this a few times provokes it's spawn? It's possible since the BLM is never there when the NM spawns.

Do you find this by aimlessly wadering? Or are they on the path to the Minotaur? Basically I'm not real familiar with this area so is there a direction we should be headed to run across this NM? And anyone figure out the spawn?
they are in the room where the grouped DRK, NIN, RNG and SAM fomor spawn, with ungrouped MNK and BLM fomors.

is this thing a random spawn or a timed spawn? and can 1 pt of 6 people kill it ? cuz i could really use those claws for my monk, it would really help me in farming, cuz monks don't have drain, bloody bolts like the other jobs so this thing would be USEFUL, would be greatful for the info, thanx

Phomiuna Aqueducts??? A Promathia area right? What is the level cap there? Now since the item is Rare/Ex I suppose its IMPOSSIBLE for me to acquire the item since I cannot enter the area cause I don't have the expansion... I wonder could I be in a party with someone who has the expansion and have them acquire the knife for me? then lot for it outside the area?

Additionally, to get to the Phomiuna Aqueducts, someone would have to have access to them, which means they'd have to have beaten all three Promyvions (no mean feat), and accepted the next mission in Tavnazia. So even if someone could try and do that for you, they have to zone across several areas to get to you... you wouldn't be able to just wait outside. :P
This NM is pretty easy, I'd recommend only NIN tank for this. The BLM escort is about 1 SC worth of damage, so just get TP shadowbind Tres, SC the BLM escort, wait for Tres to come in and just take him easy.

We tried to attack this NM, with a SMN, RNG, WHM, PAL, and it was very difficult. Three tries all fails. Due to this area being level capped, you can't just walk in with a high level friend and 0wnzor this NM. This NM does have a Taru-blmage pet that will chain cast all over the place. (it particularly likes -ga spells) Thankfully the Taru-pet can be silenced. I would not suggest trying this NM unless you had a full party or 8-10 person alliance (just to be certain)

sorry, but it doesnt matter if you are 75mnk and 75pld, you will be capped as 40mnk 40pld >_< so no, you would not be able to solo it, as it fights as an IT+ (maybe IT++ depending on party/alliance setup)
mite there be something more to the weapons than just combat... i.e. a quest, as if the drop rate is definite then mite be like aspir dagger and the shield thingy that drops in Giddeus?

As far as I know, there are no dropped items that rely on an active quest, only key items. I know for certain that the Aspir Knife and Parana Shield that you mentioned drop every time, regardless of quest status.
Or maybe he got more than one drop cause he had more than one person in the party. Ever give people the benefit of the doubt?

it's a triple bat btw, meaning it has jet stream which hurts. Alot.

Just killed this NM last night with an Alliance of 8... 1 NIN/WAR, 1RNG/NIN, 1 BLM/WHM, 2BRD/WHM, and 3 WHM/BLM. Fight was easy for an NM, we all expected it to be a lot harder...
they hit a level 40 capped rng for about 60-90 points... one thing I noticed... this is such an awesomly cool NM, it is three bats, yes, but not like normal ones, they have a swooping attack, and they also change formation. they have really nice animation and it was a fun fight. We re there for awhile though... and no Amoroso ever popped... I was not quite sure what happened to it. Also... we didnt get any EXP or drops... which I found rather unusual... but the nm was at full hp, and never seemed to use a 2hour...
I'm wondering what job this NM is, and what happens concerning the drops/exp and if there is a way to change it. judging from its lotto... I would say the NM is a BLM... but if the NM is actually the Bats, and not the amoroso... what does that make the placeholder?
If anyone has any ideas or theories on this please feel free to PM me or post back!

Killed this NM again the next day after last post... Amoroso was there with it that time. It spams level 2 -aga spells, and we were unable to silence it. We took both mobs down with 5 people: NIN/WAR, RNG/NIN, BRD/WHM, WHM/BLM, WHM/BLM
