I was soloing 32BST down there, throwing Beetles and Bats at Goblins, when this sucker popped. A bunch of key farmers were killing everything, and I was going to die. Out of desperation, I tried charming Stroper Chyme (he popped on the stairs). It stuck, so I Familiar'd him, and started cleaning house.
It was fun.

History of Stroper ChymeStroper Chyme was once one of the most heavily camped monsters in the game, back when it used to drop Archer's ring, an item used to make Sniper's ring. However, in July 2005 -- in an effort to thwart the profits of RMT -- SE changed Stroper Chyme so that the monster no longer dropped the Archer's ring. Information on that update, which affected other notorious monsters and items, can be viewed at July 19, 2005 Update Notes. Stroper now drops the Shikaree ring, ex duplicate of the Archer's ring that cannot be used in recipes. Stroper can also be found at G-9 and H-10. Question: How do I get to the spawn areas? I have searched for the way up EVERYWHERE and can't seem to find it. Help me out!

So I went down here about 2 months ago to try and camp Marbolgaa(sp) and ended up getting a ring off a chyme on accident. At the time I didnt need the ring as much as I needed the space so I dropped it. Went back down today trying to get one since im leveling ninja and managed to get 2 rings out of 10 chymes. Guess I just got lucky.
ya, its a bad drop rate. had friend with TH2 finally and got it after about 20 kills or so. been back several times to get it for a friend and got it within an hour. then the other day came and i was runnin through to do zm5, thought what the hell. killed ol chymey 4 times, waited for 1 pop since he pops in 2 spots up top near the napalms and a little farther back. i went afk while fighting him and then came back to see "you find shikaree ring ..." i was like sweet, now i have 2. i just got super lucky i think. but then i went to kill napalms and got 3 flame degens in a row. my lucky day i guess. btw, i was drg70/war35. and just a little side note, i went back like 2 days later to kill napalms, waited an hour and got no drops so i guess it really was my lucky day. good luck to you all!

I solo'd this as a THF35/NIN17 easily. Just keep shadows up. Sleep Bolt and Sneak Attack whenever possible. Other than that just spam Bloody Bolts like no tomorrow. If Stroper Chyme some how gets you down to no shadows, Sleep Bolt and recast Utsusemi. 0/17 =(
1/18 on shikaree..got on 2nd kill of the night. going for my 2nd right now.

well...i soloed this guy tonight while looking for RSE gear, and I found im and thought, eh what the hell. So me (40DRK/20WAR) and my NPC soloed him, barely. Had to use 2 hour, souleater, and got away with 20 hp out of 828. It's doable at 40...but u gotta be careful.

I am on Ramuh server.. I am currently 1/1427 in a 5 day period.. I am not leaving till the second ring drops. My opinion is do not waste your time on this like I have, you will regret it.

Ok, well... to give ya an idea i have killed this ****** 0/176 no drop (still), I ate lucky egg got no drop,
this egg is a fake as this Slime. i have gather 4 stacks of Slime Oils. i went as a PLD60/THF25 TH and lucky egg i was in here all the day without the god damn drop, then got a THF Lv. 49 in my pty, killed like 10 Chymes while the THF was in the pty, I got no drop. Then i went offline like 3 hours and came back to farm it 2 hours more and still got no drop.... well so i told you this to get ya an idea how hard is to get this ****** drop.. Hope it helps ya >_>

Soloed twice as 45DRG/22WAR, while RSE hunting. Both fights were reasonably close. Got me down to 32 HP in the first fight, and to 100 the second time. (I had less HP the first time.)
Hence, a 45DRG with decent gear and 2hr can solo this.

Just yesterday,why finnaly finishing Sighned in Blood qst, as my 43Redmage/21 Blackmage defeated this beast 3 times[easy prey to me], no drops but the fight was not what youd call epic lol....Stropers got vines only.
Went into each battle with the following on;Stoneskin,Phalanx,Pro/Shell2,Blink,Blaze Spikes and Enblizzard[Buzzard Tuck big help:)],Regen and Refresh.May have had about 200magic left before started the fight.
Pulled with Slow, then dropped Blind and Dia2, couple of Fires and battle was over:)[didnt need to cast Paralyze, see my post on Buzzard Tuck to know why :)]
Hope this helps other Redmages who wanan come solo or quest here:)

repop on chyme is 12 mins there are 4 seperate chyme spawns.
1 on the ledge with the false wall leading to the strange apparatus( which requires u to trade a green chip and infinity core for a chance at some rune weapons) 1 on the opposite platform, where the stairway is that leads you back tward the Molboro NM for brown belt quest, 1 atop the stairs (wide spawn area could be anywhere around the area at the top of the stairway. 1 back near the molboro NM usually in the room w/ the 2 bombs.
as far as what lv to come here n solo effectivly.
each job differs in soloability. Dont jud come here and ask bout can I on this job at lv X.
jus get a bud if your 40somthing, and if not wait till your 50 , no job shouldnt be able to solo it at 50. who wants to die on a mob w/ a rare ex drop thats rediculasly rare

what is the lowest lvl to be to fight kill this guy. Well to get to him and kill him safely?
I was running around to find Stroper chyme "area" and He Pops on the Ledge. I quickly grab him and start pounding away and I kill him and then I see
