History of Stroper ChymeStroper Chyme was once one of the most heavily camped monsters in the game, back when it used to drop Archer's ring, an item used to make Sniper's ring. However, in July 2005 -- in an effort to thwart the profits of RMT -- SE changed Stroper Chyme so that the monster no longer dropped the Archer's ring. Information on that update, which affected other notorious monsters and items, can be viewed at July 19, 2005 Update Notes. Stroper now drops the Shikaree ring, ex duplicate of the Archer's ring that cannot be used in recipes. Stroper can also be found at G-9 and H-10. I'm wondering if its possible to charm the Stroper seeing as its not a NM... Would anyone be able to tell me if that is possible because I use Charm to hunt my NM's and you could see how that might not be a good thing.
i was in a pt today camping this, we had 7 people, we killed this thing about 15 times and no drop :(
Impossible to get, on Garuda server there are 4 doods that camps this 24/7.

I was playing around ordelles and decided to give this guy a shot as THF40/BST20... yeah I didn't have WAR at a decent level at the time and needed a fast claiming method.
I died in the middle of about 10 expectators... No one healed me, no one helped. After I died they claimed it so fast it was just brutal. I got it down to about 1/3 hp though.
I came back with my regular 40THF/20NIN, I had pretty uber evasion gear at the time too. I came back and used flee/steal to claim it again instead of flee/charm. I started killing it and again I got that huge crowd around me waiting for my death. Too bad for them, I soloed it with absolutely no problems. It hit me only a couple of times, I kept utsusemi up without being interrupted at all. It did take me a LONG LONG time to kill it. Of course no drop, I'm like 0/68453438768649864848367 on this thing. It was just great to see them waiting for me to die for like 10 minutes.
Sorry about the novel. To answer your question: THF40/NIN20 can solo it with ease IF you have emp hairpin, survival belt and whatever else EVA gear there is available. I dont recall exactly what it was lol I had DEX gear, STR gear and EVA gear. I got rid of the EVA gear now, STR gear is a lot better for solo work. At a certain level not even all the EVA in the world will save you.

I still visit the chyme from time to time though, lol, we go from way back. :P
Edit: duh I just saw you were level 50 lol. Piece of cake. To claim just flee and steal.

Not to sure about soloing this guy im a 43thf and it hits me good and i hit it bad but im a thf/bst so,....well you prolly could if you could keep utsusemi up.....i dont think you would be albe to claim the little beast since its botted frequently....need something fast to pull with...voke,charm,chi blast,flash or stun is good
i was killing it today as a THF50/BST1 in a pt. i couldent solo it :\ mabye i need to lvl my BST?

Hey all my freind told me about some monster in ordelles caves so i looked it up and found the stroper chyme...first off the archers ring goes for 660k on pandemonium and its constantly botted by 2 diff parties....bigdog and his freinds littleman and littlegirl and of course the zooe(8 of them)...well bigdog is best at claiming it and the zooe dont like him...well ive been able to get him a few times and im 1/5 on this guy got it on 2nd claim been camping him recenlty...im a 43thf/bst and i always have a freind or 2 with me...well had 2 others with me when i got the drop....so i was 225k richer yay....well gl

My LS friends and I camp this a lot. On Cerberus we have to out do the Gil Sellers (only Satoyoyoki is a bot, I can beat the rest easily with <Chi Blast>). And I say they are Gil Sellers beacuse they are 24 hours a day, everyday. We'll me and my friends Genshu(sam), Jerk(rng), and Turandis(nin) were camping this to try and make some money. 140k each way when we got it. We were getting our asses kicked on most of the spawns. I was 40 and didnt have Chi Blast yet so I was voking. I got one out of 10 spawns and none of my friends got any. Well the Gil Sellers all log which confused us but we didnt complain. They were gone for about 20 mins so we got a bunch of spawns with no competition. On our second claim we got the ring ^^. It was pretty sweet. After about claim number 3 the Gil Sellers all logged back in (We assumed it was a shift change for the charecters) and we beat them to another claim or two, then we logged. We were pumped. We did at one point resort to MPKing Satoyoyoki because after HOURS or no claims you try anything, and sure enough, Stoper spawned in front of Sato but he couldn't see past the Bat so I got it.
We keep camping it now that I have Chi Blast and we get most of the claims.....not all tho....still cant beat Satoyoyoki.
I guess the moral is Chi Blast = kicks gil sellers asses (if they arent botting)

They can be there all day everyday and even if we know they are gil farmers, SE will not do anything because as a GM said, there is nothing wrong with anyone camping any NM any amount of times for any length of time. >.>
Well, Zeero, when I get back Ill tell Jerk you say Hi and I think I'll have fun compeating and maybe even working with you ^^.

56 Monk i own this thing, Gil-Sellers heads turn when it hasnt even spawned and i already Chi Blast it and no i dont bot, me and 2 of my friends on remora have pretty much sliced the gil sellers throats on this drop, we get it 9/10 and they bring other mobs in to fight against botters, no biggie no one says you cant spam =D
If you don't bot, then explain how you manage to Chi Blast it before it spawns :)

You can target and use spells and abilities on things before they become visible. Pleaseknow what you are talking about before you question someone -.-

I wanted to help people with level issues.
The best time to camp this with friends is level 45 because you will not get aggro heading between the 2 spawns. Also if you want to solo this I would have to say that level 48 is a good time for any job to start. I started soloing it at 47 with my drk (I had to rest in between spawns though lol) but I'm pretty sure that other jobs can solo it just as well being that each class gets their own benefits. Whm can heal itself during fights, blm can nuke the hell out of it without worrying about hate because he/she is fighting it. The only jobs that I am really ify about are bard and thief. Thief's evasion would probably put it in the easy solo zone but i'm not sure if a Brd could solo anything easily.
anyways thats my 2 cents please feel free to add to that or correct me on anything i say. ^^ I don't consider anything against me as flame lol.
*edit* By the way, if you start soloing as early as 48, you may want to bring potions and rest between every fight just in case. You never know lol.

What lvl ranger could solo this? and would shadowbind be helpful in claiming this mob. I want to hunt him down just to **** of IGE.

Just to let you know, IGE gilsellers will claim monsters before you can even see them spawn.. it's useless to try this.
However there is one way to claim it.. or should i say "STEAL"
If you're a PLD, do this: follow the gilsellers, wait till the NM spawns, when the monster spawns, and the gilsellers start fighting use Cure III or IV on the gilsellers then use Invincible to make it somewhat impossible for those gilsellers to keep hate, just make sure you do anything to keep the hate toward yourself, then after a while the monster's name will turn yellow and quickly use provoke on it so that you claimed it.
When i went huntig stroper with some friends (one of them was PLD) the PLD did the same, just too bad that our PLD couldn't keep hate long enough, i think if he would have kept hate for 2 more seconds we would have claimed it. and the gilsellers will get really pissed off ;)
Please spread the word about this way to steal mobs from gilsellers, also: try a /sea PLD 45-75 and ask some pld's if they would like to join on irritating them gilsellers, the more they get pissed off, the better ;)

What you wrote doesn't work, b/c while you have hate, the gil-sellers are still attacking it. As long as they keep taking actions against it, it will never change.

No. The reason the PLD/THF deal worked was because he took the mob away from the other campers, preventing them from attacking it, and that is why it became unclaimed. Just stealing hate doesn't make a mob become unclaimed, PLs should of taught this by now.

alright i quit this thing. i went back to hunting this once i hit lvl 52. me, a drg/war, and sam/war just decided to go look for it. MAN theres so many ppl going after this thing!!! there was at least 1 full pt and then 2 other extra peeps. everyone just FLEEing all over the place. lol it was pretty funny. weird how this chyme isn't even an NM o.O

Excuse me, but I have camped this before with a WAR40 and myself (BLM40 at the time). We killed it easily, but I was wandering if a BLM45 can kill Stroper Chyme by himself with maxed sub job and really good gear? I plan on using Stun to grab him once spawned so help me out please.
My 49 thf friend and I camped this today on Unicorn. We had to compete with a few other people who also wanted the ring (which was fine) and a party of gil sellers who are there 24/7 killing these two spawns (which pisses me off to no end).
We went about 11/24 on the claims, not too bad considering there were only 2 of us, 4 or so gil sellers in a pt, and 2 or 3 other random people. No drops of course.
Both are on a 12 minute respawn timer (a few seconds more but basically 12 minutes). One spawns in the room at H-9, and the other spawns on the steps at H-5/6. Good luck getting it from the gil sellers.

I can't read all the posts on this page because of internet server issues... but
Each of the Stroper chymes spawn in 2 spots obviously on 2 spawn cycles. In each area the spawn time for it is take the Game Time of its death (exact time of death) and add 5 game hours to the time. It will spawn between that time and 10 game minutes afterward in that area.
Let's say it died at 14:35 game time in the big room (or stairs). This would mean that it would spawn again between 19:35 and 19:45 game time in that area.
I hope this helps (if it wasn't posted somewhere else) =)

ive got gil sellers that work for IGE please dont buy from them it just incourges thier constant camping of monsters >.< They raised sniper rings to 700k!! its impossible for me to get them. I talked to one of the gil farmers (Aniet) and he said he doesnt get much from this but he gets about 100k a day :O he said "Im going to get enough money to make some cursed hauberks" I asked him why a couple?! He said "I want the armada pieces"..... He is A PALADIN! Very lame excuse >.< anyway my point is gil sellers make this game so unfair and GMs cant do anything because they dont break the rules. But they will train monsters into the areas.

Imo SE should just change the rules, or add "Using 3rd programs/scripts to let your character interact automaticcaly is highly illegal"
I mean.. how hard would it be to change or add a simple rule?
And the gilsellers on my server have raised prices from what used to be 50-100k to 300-400k making sniper rings wich i need for my drg 500k
And i'm not about to go farm things that might bring me 5-10k an hour... then it would take ages to get that amount of money.
I'm a lvl 48DRG in static and lvl'ing pretty fast... I really don't know what to do to make money, i'm not such a big fan of farming anymore, i prefer camping special spawns or NM's.. what do i do :( (btw camping monsters like spook is also useless for me (unless it's abandonned wich never happens except after server maintenance) cause on my server spook get's claimed before i can see it)

well, today. me and 3 buds were campin this guy
there was 45thf, 38 sam, and a 30thf
it hurt bad, on our.. third time fighting him, the sam died ; ;
then we left, and figured we would lvl a bit more before we camped him anymore lol
how does it work, because there were some **** camping it, they would kill him in one area... leave for about 15 mins, then come back.
does it spawn in another area? then come back? then go? back and forth? or is there another NM in there that they were checkin up on. thanks ^^

i hate this frigging slime
i camped this guy with my high lvl whm friend, and he was subbing his bst to use charm like voke... so then when chyme popped i voked him... and i was all excited, so then when im taking dmg he tries to get the hate and uses charm to try and voke him... u can see where this is going, then Stropher Chyme got charmed by my friend ::sigh:: so then we went around trying to zone him so i could finish him off... we ended up killing him, but only got a slime oil and a ordelles chest key ><

Just wondering... could a 45DRK/THF Solo it? I really need this ring for purposes of getting friends to make me 2 Snipers -_-
About what lvl can you solo this thing? I'm a 55SAM/27WAR...and will I have aggro problems getting there?
Camped this guy with 3 buddies all over lvl 45. I find this guy to be one of the more fun but frustrating nms. Our drop rate was ok i guess. Kinda funny considering we got ring on 2cd drop. The awesome thing about the trip was that only 2 people outside of our party were camping this thing. WE got it about nineteen out of the twenty spawns lol. Welll we got one drop from it and thats 100k each so pretty nice for about 3-4 hours worth of work. This things not worth camping if there are over 6 other people outside ure pt camping it. Drop rate too low and chances of claiming would make this ring near to impossible to get. And about the weaopon skills afect drop rate...When we got the ring Our sam killed it with a weaopon skill lol so obviously that is untrue.
Ok went and camped chime again today... my party was owning everyon got mad at us saying we were botting lol. well anyways...... I want to bash my head aginst the wall. Killed this guy about 30 times no fcking drop >.< unsuccessful day

im on the Sylph Server and ive camped the chyme alot..im about 5/70 with him and im a 41drk and 47 war.. i always camp with a bud cuz i heared more ppl in your pty better chance of drop :P
Well i am a full pledged nm camper and so far im 3/70 on the stroper chyme^^. i have a few facts on the little slime devil and the first one is that using your ws will not effect drop infact it droppped for me because i used my ws. and thats all i have for now.
