History of Stroper ChymeStroper Chyme was once one of the most heavily camped monsters in the game, back when it used to drop Archer's ring, an item used to make Sniper's ring. However, in July 2005 -- in an effort to thwart the profits of RMT -- SE changed Stroper Chyme so that the monster no longer dropped the Archer's ring. Information on that update, which affected other notorious monsters and items, can be viewed at July 19, 2005 Update Notes. Stroper now drops the Shikaree ring, ex duplicate of the Archer's ring that cannot be used in recipes. Stroper can also be found at G-9 and H-10. If you want an exact spawn location...
If you go to the pool where you do the second part of the Paladin quest, then continue on to the dead end where you find 2 goliath beetles, you'll see a little cliff that you can't get up on. I've seen it right there, on that cliff.
You have to go very, very far around to get to this spot - if you're standing below the cliff, you are nowhere near it. But you could probably pull it down. I think it also spawns deeper in the caves, past that cliff, so you'd want to go around and get up there.
Good luck getting it before the high level Japanese folks do.

Archer's Ring also drops from this NM.
Stroper Chyme isn't an NM, scan it and you'll see. It's just a rare spawn, but not even marked as that as two spawn.
1) On the stairs from the goliath beetles tunnel.
2) In the Napalm room toward the Cermet Tombstone exit into La Thiene.
Archer's Ring is a RARE drop, and I don't mean Rare marked. (might be, but don't think so.) As a thief a friend and I killed both at least 20 times yesterday for nothing but oils. (And Napalms for the occasional Flame Degen.)

Any idea on the drop rate for the ring? It's easily less than 3%, as I've talked to many people who are 0/40

According to my Japanese Linkshell leader's sources, he said this mob spawns at H-5.
