funny story. we have a group of 5 people in this with a sixth on the way. we all get out to the shrine and a few of them have to go
so, there are three of us left(a WAR, a BLM, and me, the MNK) so we try our luck. We go in sleep the dragon and the warrior and me pound on the eye while the blm watches the dragon. dragon woke up once and by then we had struck the last blow on the eye. Hundred fists and a few WS from the WAR did it for us. very easy
This fight really is total cake. My smallest group was myself (25 RDM/BLM at the time), 25 WAR/THF and 20 RDM/WHM. I ran in to Sleep the dragon then focused on nothing but healing. I healed/enfeebled while the WAR pummeled stuff and the other RDM meleed/helped heal. Took longer than a larger group, but still was no contest. It was so fun, I spent a few days just hanging around Ghelsba and helping out whatever groups came along wanting to do the mission. Figured since I spent the money on good low-lvl gear I should get some use out of it. ^_^
In my opinion, all you need for this is a RDM and two melee. In fact, I'm 90% sure a party of just RDM and any one melee could take this down, but it would be a challenge and I wouldn't try it if this is your first ever BCNM. The only time things went bad was when immediately after sleeping the dragon, the spotter hit me with Silence that lasted Forever and by the time it wore, we were screwed. Only ever happened once, though. I can usually Silence the spotter first. ^_^
ok so we fight this thing with mnk, rng, blm, rdm, nin we slept the dragon and whooped up on the eye then me bein mnk and our rng popped our 2hr heh not even the rng could keep hate off me so have healer focuz on you when fightin the dragon. we cleared it in unde 5 minutes. pretty easy
Someone may have said it before, but all you really need to fight this pushover is a monk, a healer, a mage who can use sleep and someone to tank just in case. All you do is kill the eye after you sleep the dragon, then have monk use 2-hr on dragon. We beat the record on odin ^_^ just over 4 minutes :p
took us 4minutes with a full party six times later My group of 3 Fistandantlis BLM Lyfe WAR Drakkhan MNK hold the record on Asura 3min7sec i was naked ^^ god bless hundred fists
when i was facing this guy it has funny...he's breath attack got me to one HP left and i didnt relize it at first and he kept missing me which was dang lucky
I needed to kill this dragon for the rank 2-3 mission in bastok. I was worried that it might be strong or so, so I leveld my war to 30 did the DRG quest, leveld DRG to 25, asked some random people to help, sadly 9/10 of them didn't wanted to help but i finally managed to get a pt of 5 people, PAL, WHM, SMN, RDM and me DRG :D Killed it in less then 2 minutes :P though it was really easy i still liked the fight a lot :)
I defeated this beast with a party of four members. A Red Mage, Two Warriors and a Black Mage. It wasn't a difficult battle, the only real problem we had was that one of my team-mates had Curse inflicted on them, so the walk home was a total joy. Anyways, besides the member with Curse, we had no real danger to worry about, the closest to dieing was the member with Curse, but we just designated a new tank and we were fine. We also set the Fairy Server record for that battle, which made us all very happy. ^_^
we had a really killer party going to it...drk/thf (me), sam/war, thf/mnk, war/mnk, whm/blm, and blm/whm. but I, sam/war, and blm/whm were the only ones able to get into the circle. the sam died, then it was i and the blm, the blm died, and i died when the dragon probably had 20 hp left...
Did this with a dragoon/war blkm/rdm I think the other was a ninja/war I was a War/thf it said it was a record at 4:14 with a minute to spare on Bismark. With a Dragoon in your group the Dragon is done before he gets started. If you want to kill the dragon and need help go find the Dragoon I can't remeber his name but he is up ther at night Yughott Grotto Camping out for Ashmaker Gotblut H-9 he wants a the robe and they spawn every 3hrs and rearly drop the robe. When I say night I mean Eastern Standard Time.
I just killed this guy today and he was a total pushover. it was almost sad how we beat him. Even though we didn't beat it really fast(5:29minutes) it was by far the easiest battle ive had in a while, this is what we did:
We consisted of a 25war/12drk 25whm/12blm 24blm/12whm(me) 22pld/11war and 25 war/12mnk. we all get totally buffed out before we enter, then we all go at once expecting to land right right on the dragon and the spotter (we didnt know you had to run up the mountain, and we didnt know which way to go so we spent 3minutes looking for the arena). Then we get up there and i sleep the dragon. then the wars totally kill the spotter in less than 30 seconds. Then the wars and the pld awoke up the dragon by doing a SC it was fusion i believe and i MBed for around 150damage so the total damage done during the SC was around 350, that knocked the dragon to around half life or so. then we just switched off blows till it died. The funniest thing was that the whm healed with cure I twice the entire battle then he just nuked with his blm sub the rest. i guess i was just a little let down by how easy he was. Then the worse part for the rest of the party was walking back...but i had warp so i said my goodbyes and that was how we beat the dragon without anyone getting into the yellow (btw i had 226 mp at the beginning of the fight and at the end i had 106mp at the end).
You can get help from any rank3+ to help kill the dragon. Also if someone else has to fight THIS dragon. Anyway..I just finished up rank 3 the other day. We go to Windy all ready with a 26PLD/13WAR(me),25DRK/WAR,39BLM/19RDM, 20WAR/10MNK and a 23WHM/11BLM. We enter the Burning Circle to find out our WHM didn't come through. We asked a few questions to find out she didn't do everything she needed to do. So we are thinking we are walking into death. The BLM Elemental Seal+Sleep to the dragon as we easily took down the Searcher. Rested then engaged the dragon. I had full eq and everything ready to tank this thing with no problem. Then, I look down at my log to see the words "Dread Dragon uses Chaos Blade". Now instead of having a max of 455HP I now have 94 max. Sadly, the DRK tanked the rest of the fight. Then walking back to San was a pain..since I was cursed, I ran like 1/2 as fast. The curse last two hours, but I found a nice WHM to fix me up. It was fun to experience such a skill :). As for the WHM not being able to help, the BLM/RDM became the healer. We did fine. If I didn't get cursed, it would of been too easy :)! (btw we were all capped at lvl 25 when we entered the Burning Circle, for those who don't know.)
I remember a post that said 5 level 20's could take the dragon..
Just wanted to say that it is possible to take it down at level 22 with only 4 people in the group...let me recount our epic journey :p
After attacking Ghelsba outpost and consequently storming Fort Ghelsba slaughtering orcs indiscriminately (Warchief Vatgit lasted a mere 5 seconds), we (my linkshell and I) slogged our way through the catacombs and made it to the Burning Circle.
There were four members of the group: Monk/WAR Level 22/11 (me), War/MNK level 22/11, THF/WAR lvl 22/11, WHM/BLM lvl 22/11. WHM cast protectra and shellra before we entered the circle, and as a precautionary measure we all used a scroll of instant reraise, except for the thief, who forgot his. I used a Meat Chiefkabob and the WAR used a Fish Chiefkabob.
After the long cutscene involving the two characters showing their true courage, we gathered at the entrance to the area and engaged the enemies. The WAR and I raced straight for the Spotter while the THF provoked the Dragon and used Perfect Dodge. The Dragon got in a fireball that caught the WAR and THF (which took them down to about half HP each)
Our WAR used mighty strikes and we were doing decently well against the spotter. Our WHM tried silencing it about 3 times, but I don't recall it taking effect as the Spotter continued to cast. Regardless, it didn't do any AOE spells so perhaps it had non-magic abilities. It DID manage to Shock me at the outset of the battle though.
The Spotter was almost dead when we noticed our THF taking a lot of damage (Perfect Dodge had run out) so the WAR switched over to the Dragon to attempt to provoke it off, which didn't work as the THF had already done too much damage to the Dragon. The THF got into the red and one hit would have killed him except for a fortuitous miss by the Dragon, right after which our WHM cast Cure III on the THF.
I finished off the Spotter and entered the fray. The Dragon was at about 2/3 life or so, and I used my dodge ability and then used Hundred Fists. This of course caused the Dragon to swing around to aggro on me, but he missed several times while I was laying into him. Meanwhile, the WAR and THF were doing damage to him on the sides.
Once he was down to a small portion of life we attempted to do a skillchain (Smash Axe - Combo) but it was interrupted by a fast blade from the THF. Regardless, about 5 seconds after all the Weapon Skills hit, the Dragon went down.
We finished in 4 min 20 secs, which was actually a minute shorter than the record of 3 min and 20 secs (Ramuh server).

I did this tonight, the longest part is getting together some people to kill him and walking to the BC, after that it is pretty easy. I tried to steal from the dragon, got nothing, the other thief said he got nothing as well. Probably nothing to steal, but I wouldn't stop trying. But I did get the Darkness Crystal from killing him, i feel so special!
