Okay, I think that I might have figured out how the Chocobo colors are determined. This is not completely proven. However, it is a possibility. I think that the color of an adult chocobo is determined by the type of food that it is given by its owner. I have been raising a chick for about 15 days now. I've fed it mostly Carrot Paste since it hatched. I've been wanting a black chocobo. I noticed that every time I feed it Carrot Paste, the aura that surrounds the chick is purplish in color. I think that it is possible that when you feed your chocobo a certain type of food, its body somehow counts how many of each food group that you've given your bird. So if I keep feeding it Carrot Paste and similar foods that keep its aura dark, I shall hopefully obtain a black chocobo, just like I wanted. If you feed it Toko. wildgrass, the aura is more white in color. This might be an ingrediant for a yellow chocobo. I am not 100% sure about this, but I think that it is definitely possible.

I have been testing this on a chick of mine. Here is what I found out:
As I was focusing on mental abilities, I don't know about physical ones.
I was also using walks to keep affection up which I forgot lowers receptivity. Oh well.
Facts:
2 of these will make the chocobo full
it does not provide any health to the chocobo
it does not raise affection by any noticable degree
it does raise at least discernment, I'm sure receptivity, and possibly strength and endurance
Based on the assumption that each chocobo skill level takes 32 points to raise:
2 days of basic care (2 points total)
4 days of listening to music (12 points total)
6 carrot pastes
my chocobo went to the next level for discernment
From that I assume each carrot paste adds 3 points to abilities
Finally, for those who were curious, my chocobo is yellow.

I have made this paste and tried it on my choco, which always seems to be starving. I fed it and it went from starving to quite full. Seems like the better of the pastes, and luckily I got 12 of the carrots from gardening (would have been more, but I was going for various outcomes).
I am lvl 100 cooking and see this as a prime sorce of income... I just got my choco hatched not realizing what i needed to feed it or take care of it.. I go to buy carrot paste thinkin like maybe 2k "lol" 200k each on garuda. My choco is a dead man I dont even make that in gil a week.. so i think to myself ok feed it a carrot. 100k a vomp carrot. zegham carrot 150k thats per carrot This is no joke. So then I start doing the math To keep my choco alive and well for a full 7day rl week its gonna cost 3.5mil a week just in food alone... Anyway I figure I should take this time to cash in and so should everybody else.. Raise the chocos after the price drops dont start it now it's gona kill your poket book. So I say lets Take the gil buyers for a bit of a ride while we can and raise the chocos later... Rather have a full genies set before a choco anyday and at the cost it is now I could get a genie set in a week lol..

Feed it sandorian carrots or gysahl greens
i looked these items up along with all other items in a.h and cost anywhere from 100k-500k a stack. which is totally insane.
so i decided to grow a crap load of seeds i purchased in aht urghan @ 329 gil each.
all being grown in porcelain pots with different crystals.
ill post my results, in a few days.
fyi this is on queztalcoatl and prices r insane.
i have made a few stacks of vegitable paste, but i would believe those to be bottom of barrell type food since chocobos dont like gyshal greens and that is main ingredient in them.
ill keep u all posted on my growing result if the wildgrass seed, Happy chocobo raising ^^

need to grow them in a porclin flower pot useing wildgrass seeds and feed it an earth crystal....
