Only adventurers training to be a Knight can wield this long-bladed iron sword. However, for those who can, this sword is an excellent choice throughout their training until they become a knight.
iron ingots are selling for roughly 3k each on my server. 3 of them = 9k plus the leather and fire crystal, you're trying to tell me that it's cheaper to make this than to buy it from AH or NPC? Not on my server. Frankly, it amazes me that people sell these items for less than they're worth. WAY less. Stupid people, I tell you. You'd think these items dropped from mobs or something and people were just getting rid of them on their pit stops into town.
If you can use this sword to about lvl 30 then it must be a very nice one. I know the dmgs but I have not compared the swords to use after I get this one. I knew I was gonna get this sword for my PLD but didnt know it would be usefull to lvl 30. Well THX GL
I bought the sword today and have not noticed a difference in damage delt to enemys, nor in attack. Wouldn't somthing with high damage capability raise your attack?
yes it would but your thinkin of attack and the weapons damage which are two different things. attack is increased every level of your character, and it would increase say if there were a +5 attack for example. but weapon damage does not increase how you hit enemiesthe problem probably is that your fighting harder monsters, so the sword is just fine its just that it may not do as much damage as you want it to

I think yes the sword is useful...but it is a little slower than most single-handed sword. Only because its a stronger than most at that lvl. I am a lvl 20 rdm and plan to use the sword for quite a while considering its usefulness. It only cost me 5000G in Seraph server and a day later checked it for 8000G!!! Also any red mage wishing to increase sword skill should definetely look into buying this one. Take it from a first hand Red mage...^-^ http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/profile.xml?28231
This sword is excellent. Any sword wielders could use this until level 30 or so. I reccomend this sword at level 18. if affordable, it runs for almost 8k In the Odin Ah... and 9k from the npc. Just to tell you ~Shuya
The longsword caps at lvl 26 smithing, so it can be reasonably made around 23, especially with advanced support. It can be made for cheaper than it can be bought from npc (if 9k is correct) but you could simply sell the ingredients and get close to 9k for them anyway. Although, there's always the off chance you might get a +1.
In South San, the Long sword sells for almost 9000 gil, if you try to get it from the Auction house, it's almost always more expensive. But if your a RDM, better than the fire/flame sword as you can cast enthunder or enstone and always have that extra dmg instead of once and awhile with the fire/flame sword. ~Cheers~ :)
