IMO...i love this spear, im lvl 25 war, and used it since lvl 20. No other spear is for me! ^^ wel, either that or i cant afford a new one but stil, i bought this spear... didnt no a mob dropped it. the additional effect happens randomly, it can do it as many times as it feels like it in the battle and a couple times i got the evasion down on the mob 3 times in a row ^^. very helpful for fighting those harder mobs wen every1 misses.

i have killed dio and gog last night 35 war 17 thf with my bro and i got both scythe and spear after 2 incounters with them they hit soft to me 15 to 28 and criticals are 61 and dimitional death only hit me for a max of 38 but i'm wearing the kampf armor except for the hands that are royal squir mufflers for 2 acc+ killed them with frostreaper once and the second time i killed them with the crule spear i just picked up off gog and with a polearm skill of only 20 i killed them both hitting for 36
well damn if u ever used additoional effect weapons u would know that it isnt everytime
So it makes your attacks lower the monsters evasion? if so, is their a certain % that it will happen? or does it effect it 100% of the time, but only once?....

I think his Brothers sycth does same thing too its kick *** for a elvaan DRK (No offence but elvaan never hit anything)
First of all, you spelled offense wrong. -_-; Second, you're... in a word, a moron. DRKs just have naturally low accuracy. While a Elvaan may not have better accuracy than a Tarutaru (of the same job), it doesn't mean Elvaan just can't hit. It's the job, idiot >.<! Third... this is the *spear* thread, not scythe. And lastly... why did you have to make up the Elvaan never hitting bs? o_O Just like to insult people? If the spear (not that you were even talking about the spear...) had some accuracy up, it'd be more appropriate... but it doesn't. -_-;

I have seen Gog kill a 31 RDM
I owned him with a 32 MNK (of course no drop when I kill a NM)
I think a 36 WHM would be able to do it

I took this guy with my 31RDM. Subbed ninja, buffed with enfire before I angaged. No drop.
I've seen a RDM33 take Gog out easily, with at least 1/2 of both HP and MP left over at the end.
Oh man, Gog is a damn easy kill. I fought him as a lvl 27War/13Mnk. The fight was going my way the whole time, used a meat mithkabob before the fight, boosted a couple times. During the fight I had him at less than half health, and he used dimensional death, hit me for 146 dmg, got me down almost to red. At that point I used mighty strikes.....just slaughtered him.
No drop, just a lousy revival root...but a fun fight none the less.

i used this with my war, didnt like it too much. when i was gettin my giddeus key for a khazam airpass, i was only hittin the yagudos for 30ish damage. luckily, a 36 drk from my ls was with me.

I am a lvl 29 theif and Gog hit me for for 50 damage each time, and got some criticals. I only got him down to 3/4's hp b4 i ran away :(
I subbed ranger for my thf and he hasnt hit me once!! Except for the dimensional thing that did about 100 to me... no drop either.

I kicked his *** badly i am a level 30 and beat him like nothing. He was a sinch for a SAM. THF cant take hits is the reason you got your *** kicked

Heh, goes to show what a couple levels means in this game. I killed him earlier today as a 32RDM/16DRK and was only down to about 400 HP out of 540 (Regen on, but no Cures). Biggest hit to me was 110 from Dimensional Death.
Anyone know what this polearm goes for?

To answer the question in your subject line, yes rares are saleable. However you cannot have two of the same rare item equipped at the same time, AFAIK. For example, ninjas cannot have two of the same rare daggers equipped.

To begin with you can't hold more than one of the same Rare... If you have this Spear with you, you won't be able to get it as long as one is with you anywhere (Mog safe, AH, your inv, whatever).
There is a way to possess (not equip) more than one rare item. Just send the rare item to yourself. If you have a rare item in your delivery box, it will not count against you. I had a refresh (rare rdm spell) in my delivery box, and I was able to keep another one in my mog safe for delivery to a link shell friend later. However, I'm not sure if you can have multiple copies of the same rare item in your delivery box...never tried it.

well this might seem funny but i was in giddeus lastnite w my lv14 THF/7WHM and was just tryin to get to 15 when i see him now im not stupid having beat him four or five times w 28RDM/14BLM (he has dropped the shield every single time ive fought him) I kinda wait hoping somebody would get him when he runs across the room and attacked me!I thought i was dead for sure his "blink" effect cancelled out all my attacks and he was doin about 40-50
pts of dam per hit!Thankfully(and it happens often for me!) A high lv WHM was farming nearby and helped me beat him!And heres the funny part i had parana shield equipped and he dropped another and i was able to obtain it!!!Now the sorry part is i cant sell it!!! I have a mule i would like to send it too but dont know if thats possible??

Parana (Or Prana?) shield is EX, meaning it cannot be traded / AH-ed. You can have as many as you can carry.

yes, you can have as many rares in your inbox as people can send, we were massacre'ing Bubbly Bernie for the Steam Clock and fame one would kill the other would take it from the killer run it to mines, send it to the third who was running to the drop from markets mog house, i was markets to drop in the chain and had as many as 15 waiting for me when i took a break for dinner, so yes you can have more than one rare in the inbox, PS dont so the bernie thing, its crap, no future (money) in it as my THF tells

yea, i bought this weapon and i impair his evasion like every other to every 3 hits :)

The evade debuff is pretty rare, but helps a lot when it goes off on tough mobs.
So are you saying that this effects the mobs evasion? I looked at it in aH last night and fromt he description given on it (in game), and it lead me to believe that it lowered your evasion.

Generally, when a weapon has an "Additional Effect" this is something that happens every now and then to the monster you're hitting.
That's what I figured, but the description was making me think twice.

I just got this spear last night, it seems to impair the monsters evasion... I haven't missed a swing yet with it. Neither has the monsters been able to hit me yet. If this is the true power of the spear, then it is a godly send to the Elvaans.

Beat him pretty easily with a party of 3. Myself and 2 friends (21 MNK and 22 WAR). Nothing really hard the weapon is a pretty rare drop we only got it one time in 5 kills.

i took out the dopplegander gog at lvl 30. he's beleived to be a 23-25 lvl mob.

So I am currently a 22thf/10war and wanted to see if I buffed up on food and used my 2hr ability if I coudl take this guy.
He owned me.
I didn't hurt him too bad in my 30secs of no damage, but then his Scythe hits for 100-150dmg each hit - I had 351HP - you can guess how fast he killed me.
