omg wtf is with everyone talking about pull with shadowbind??? that is the stupidest idea there is. first off any party where a rng is gonna wait 5 mins between pulls to wait on shadowbind is getting booted, and if thats not bad enough, having to wait the 3 mins for it to wear on the mob to actually come after the party (chances are it will just go unclaimed again) is even stupider. plain and simple the bow sucks! no use except a pre-requisite to other AF quests. and any rng who uses a shortbow of any kind should have this piece of **** bow shoved up there ***. get a battle bow +1 or shikar and call it a day with the awesome damage you will be doing ^^

I know I know; this is the ranger bow of suck. But still; I want it for the 1) looks, 2) the other AF. So, question; is the quest mob, Evil Weapon? Solo-able at 48? Or do I need some help?

This bow sux, but too a poor *** nooby, a free bow with stats like this are welcome.

I've had my Great Bow+1 since around lv20, when a mate retired from the game and left me all of his lv30-40 RNG gear. That bow and a full set of Noct+1 gear sat in my MH for ages while I leveled up to them, and now, just a few points short of 40, I plan to keep using the weapons I have. I've kept Marksmanship capped by usin' a crossbow, currently I'm using a Zamburak+1. The only upgrades I've made to my armor have been to change Noct Doublet+1 for a Linen Doublet+1, a Marksman's Ring, 2 Archer's Knives, and Bastokan Cuiasses.
So far as I can tell, the gear I'm ALREADY using is better than most of the stuff I can get between now and lv50, so I'll probably stick with it. That said, I STILL intend to do the AF quests just for the braggin' rights...*g*

hmm well archer's knifes arnt the best.. but thier good. hawker's +1 would be better to have.. but im kinda new to this whole ranger thing i like it so far lv 36 rng/nin have 2 hawkers, and thier doin just fine. (^_^)b

Ha, DRGs may be weaker in later levels, but at least our AF weapon doesn't blow chunks. *snickers*
Seriously though, I think SE should have given the AF weapons at least 3 or 4 levels of functionality before a stronger weapon came along. What would have been awesome is if the weapon could have been upgraded through the levels. It doesn't have to be the best every time you upgrade it but just something nifty. Like quests to increase/add stats to the weapon. Just run with it, the possibilities are endless. Oh well, at least no Relic weapons blow, from what I have seen anyways.

Drg Af Weapon may be better, but it's harder than hell to get a party pre-55. I made my parties 10~55 x_x Jesus, I dun wanna make a party ever again. Was hoping for a better Rng Af weapon, but guess this one sucks as much as most Af weapons.

#1- This bow doesnt have a use.
#2- You can pull fast with Shadowbind.
#3- You MUST do this AF quest to get the others, that is the only reason for getting it.

Ok guys, yeah the bow sucks. So what? Use a Shikar Bow or a Great Bow +1 and get over it. Point is, you MUST get this bow in order to get the kick @$$ AF that rangers get later on in your 50's. So, suck it up and wait it out.

I read somewhere that this bow gives a "bow skill increase", just wondering if anybody can confirm this and maybe explain what that it is exactely or how much of an increase it actually gives. thx in advance.

Edit-and this most AF weapons are dwarfed by a commen weapon-for instance, the monks H2H, beat cesti, is outclassed by a L32 weapon, the Impact Knuckles{+8 damage as opposed to +4, delay on H2H is negligible, has +3 acc, beating the +2 dex the beat cesti bring, and +1 strength, which by this level, is way more important than +2 vitality-sorry S-E}
Also, Casting Wand, the Blm's AF, gives +20 mp...by this level, blm's rarely run out of mp..+int is more important to them.
The +4 agility is very good for this bow...but increased damage and/or ranged acc/attack would have been better, from what I've seen posted.

guess it didnt dawn on you that this would make a good pulling bow for the speed and agi to evade hits running back to camp.
Um...No for pulling u should probably use Shadowbind at this lvl if u need a fast claim. And there's no point using this bow because:
a.) You lose TP when switching back to main Ranged Weapon
-and-
b.) Usually a RNG will sub Nin, so AGI for Evasion won't really matter when the mob is hitting your shadows, bound, or too far away to hit you in the first place.
All in all, This bow just plain sucks. If you want a low delay bow to get fast claims with wait until Lv. 57 and get Loxely Bow. Otherwise, DO stick with +1 Bows until Eurytos' or something...

I'm guessing you can pick at enimies from very far away with this bow? I just started leveling my Rng for fun so looking at this i am sure the name must imply something.

No, it's that bad. it's use? To gather dust on your mannequin's back with other useless bits of AF.
this bow sucks for being AF considering a battle bow +1 is way stronger, but i guess you have to have it to get rest of AF

Agreed that this bow isn't the greatest weapon out there, and yea, I'll definately keep using my Battle Bow+1... BUT... you guys berate without consideration. You may, or may not know, but AGI has a BIG effect on a RNGs Weapon Skills, yeah, you may not do quite as much damage, but the bow is actually a decent bow... I just wouldn't use it in most situations. Remember though about high-damage weapons: if you get too much hate, you're going to end up dead...
Hate control is always a factor, and it's a team effort. Don't pull with barrage and expect your PLD or NIN to be able to pull hate off of you until you take a few hits...
This bow reflects SEs real intention of RNG, a balanced DD in a normal exp. party. The other weapons they have given us though... make us capable of being the highest DDs in the game, so we have to use our power responsibly.
No AF is worthless, just because you don't understand how it works, doesn't mean that it's not 'good'. But I do agree that it would be more of a 'bow of choice' if they tacked on some +Ranged Acc and Attack or DMG.

its a short bow look at the delay its not so bad looking if you like chain shooting ;)but thats more arrows and money down the drain but thats not what ranger is about is it we like using r 2hour on tunnel worms just becuase we can do 1k+ dmg so give us a gun or a great bow

he probably was leveling with a shortbow +1 or a regular longbow, and got this af free. So he doesnt know what a power bow +1 or great bow +1 can do.

But on subject, ranger is all about doing damage, and the more arrows that you're shooting out over the greatbow+1 would be nice sure, but you won't be doing much damage comparitively. And since you want as much damage potential as possible when you use barrage... The bow is effectively useless, like all the other shortbow types.
