Ok i just wanted to know if someone knew how often the paralysis kicks in exactly? I expect it would kick in often on TW mobs, but i want to know how often it kicks in on IT mobs... Dont call me cheap, I will get the gluttony sword, Its not that expensive (only 200k or so on ramuh i believe). But gluttony sword gives -1 to quite a few stats, and the DPS on this is slightly higher on this (Gluttony: 8.95, Dragvandil: 9.09). For that, and depending how often the paralysis kicks in, this could maybe be > gluttony. If anyone could give me any info, please ^^; Thanks in advance. /bow
Considering that PLD is a job that can successfully exp in full AF until the 70s unlike other front line jobs which are pretty much expected to buy Haubys or S.Harnesses, if you can't come up with the gil for a Gluttony Sword at 57 you fail.
I do use this sword. The paralysis hits most fights, defiently helps a paldain and party as the result of paralysis is equivalent if not more so then flash since an enemy cant hit you. Just cause a gluttony sword sells for 2.8 million doesnt make it good. I dont have a Archer ring worth 300k cause it does nothing for me. And being I never hardly see any paladins anymore when i need replacement seems they are a scarce thing who knows. The gluttony sword is nice but slower, and vit 7, nice but not mandatory. Whoever thinks this or the gluttony sword are the only sword(s)in your own opinion, that you need to hang on to for rest of game are complete nut bags. I can name one sword i want more as a paladin then any gluttony sword, 1st choice = Excalibur. And there are a few more I would pick over these for same stats and cheaper prices.
If u didn't already know this your weapons skill lvl affects the activation of additional effects. So the higher lvl your skill the more often u can activate the add effect.
People are saying this thing can possibly substitute for Gluttony Sword... You people are just cheap, or stupid, or both. Gluttony Sword not only has 7 vit, but a higher damage rating than this ting anyway. This thing is only useful in 2 situations: Ballista, and Pulling the Strings, the solo 60 cap ENM. also... +1 MND is worthless.
Fact: With stat minuses and the longer delay, this one actually does more damage over time than gluttony. Try dividing the damage by the delay, and you'll see it has a slightly higher ratio, not to mention a slightly higher everything else. (Only slightly though!)
I agree with the rest of your statements, especially because it kicks that much *** in 60 cap ballista.
I'm not saying if it's better or not purely for damage, but just dividing the damage by the delay doesn't mean anything. There's more to the damage formula then that to simplify it that much.
in no way shape or form does this sword even come close to being a replacement for gluttony sword. if you cant get a gluttony sword, farm your *** off, you will never have to buy another sword as long as you play PLD if u get a gluttony nuff said
Durandal sucks for exp, mostly because post 72, you end up fighting T's and VT's for rapid chains. You need more damage output, and Durandal just doesn't cut it. Joyuse for the win.
This sword is pretty nice in ballista i plan duel weilding it with gluttony sword. but for exp considering pld does not hit very often or for any damage go with gluttony. You can complain about the price all you want but it is really the only expensive item a pld will have to buy up to adaman. So just farm your *** off like everyone else and get gluttony. the +7 vit is extremly nice.
This sword is a good substitute for the Gluttony. People try to justify the heafty price tag on the fact the sword has 7 vit on it. I have worked with a pld that used this sword over the Gluttony and the paralize happened a good bit. While 7 vit is nice there is way too much hype behind it. Not to mention most pld end up hanging on to the Gluttony way too long. The fact is you can get pleanty of vit off your normal gear and good food, why not save a bit of gil if you need to on an over rated sword.
Yet again, a status effect that doesnt trigger very often :/ when it does, its not always guarenteed to actually paralyze the monster. ******* Sword does better damage. Neither one is a substitute for Gluttony though, one most realize just how good gluttony is and how much it does for you. In any case, this sword isn't anything special but I DID fight against another pld once in ballista, and I got totally owned by the paralysis. It happened very often and I lost like 7 swings overall. Dunno if that was a fluke or what ><
Being the struggling Paladin that I am, I could not and still can't afford the Gluttony Sword. I just happened to spot this one. I thought a lot about it...upgrading from the Tac. Mag. espadon to this is probably not on everyone's mind. But...I took it. There was only 1 on the Jeuno AH in Odin for only 14K. Equiping this cut my attack power down about 20 but the additional effect is welcome when it works. The +1 MND can't hurt for a PLD...prolly why this sword is ONLY for PLD anyway. This is merely an inexpensive sword till I lvl to 60 for the ******* Sword.
Personnaly, it's been a long time i conviced myself all "additionnal' effects suck, since they don't work enough often... Never worth the raise of price anyway...
