Ancient Papyrus  

I just did the last piece of G-1 last night and let me tell you this thing brings back nightmares of the sub-job quest trying to get a magiked skull! That is untill you find out about Gusgen Mines and the drop rate for those are silly there. I suffered for an entire day killing Ghouls in Valkrum Dunes to find mine. Later I found out about Gusgen, LOL! The Paper is the same deal here, the moon has absoultly nothing to do with it! When I got mine it was only at 20% so sorry to blow that theroy out of the water! At first we started camping the Battlia Downs side of Eldieme Necropolis, no drops in close to three hours real time. Plus I had a 70th level White Mage, 65th level Red Mage and 68th level Paldin helping a 50th level Dragoon (me) and 50th Dark Knight and someone else who was 47 I forget the job. Finally after much fustration the high levels come back to the camp and I'm thinking that's it another wasted time here. Instead they say lets move to the Beauedine Glacier side of Eldieme Necropolis. Well I had been trying to get this stinking paper for three days now and was willing to try anything to get it. Off we go to the Glacier, after about close to 45 minutes of getting there, (three of us had no gate crystal) we set up camp and start to pull liches. This side is much better here first off no Hounds or Elementals to link with the things, plus we were able to pull nothing but Liches. After about an 30 minutes, BAM! First paper drops! So the three of use lot and my Dark Knight friend wins it, so now we need two more and it's getting late real time. No sooner do 20 minutes pass another one drops the 47th level lots high I lot higher! I finally got my paper! We all stayed there and helped to get the last piece for the other person but that dropped in close to 15 minutes so for all you people still trying to get the paper and is waiting for a full moon forget that and go to the Glacier side. The drop rate is better plus there is less people camping and more Liches to kill. Good luck and Happy Hunting!

We went in to Eldieme last night. Eastern Entrance in batallia. PT set-up was 50PLD/WAR, 56WHM/BLM, 53(i think)MNK/THF, 58DRK/THF, and 70RDM/BLM.

We got it on the first drop!!
Everyone celebrated. All that bull. I lotted and waited for ppl to pass. Shocked that we got on the first kill i guess, 2 ppl forgot to pass. The RDM/BLM casted escape. And we lost the papy. ;_;

We ended up going right back and tried for about 3 more hours until everyone had left and the devoted RDM/BLM and I were left. I stayed at zone as she murked them lich's until the drop.

I went hunting Liches for about eight hours the other day, and a papyrus finally dropped. I was very happy, because I thought I was the only person in our party that needed it, but another person needed it and outlotted me by 4. We tried for another hour or so with no luck, then everyone had to leave but me, so I went back to town and decided to regroup. Today, I go with just myself and a high level PLD from my linkshell, and after about a half hour, we got one. To make a long story short, I think the drop rate for this thing is very random, so keep at it and you'll eventually find one.

as i type this, im in a pt killing lichs. its bad that its prolly gonna take so long for the drop.. even worse that im 1 of 4 that need the drop ><;;;
im hoping for the best ^^

I brought a 60 WHM, 60 BRD and a 70 MNK with me, we got it on the first kill XD

Got the papyrus off the first lich my friend killed, he is a lvl 73rdm.
I couldn't believe it, i had heard that papyrus is grusome to get..

Anyway I did my G1 in less than 2 hours, so I'm extremly happy^^

We camped eldieme for about three hours with no drops then got 4 in about 15ish minutes. I thought I would post the time incase anyone cared. (this is the time of the 4th drop)

i farmed lichs for 3 weeks i had help from a friend
and today we decieded to join a allience and we got six drops in les then 30 mins i dont know if it was luck or what but i finally finished ^^

Well, just got through with this thing. around 20 hours in the necropolis fighting and I only saw 2 drops. Went in there tonight with an alliance of nine through the glacier route. We had a lvl 60 thf, 2 whm/smns, 2 50+ blm/whms, and assorted DDs. The whm/smns (I was one of them) traded carby pulls while keeping sneak on themselves at all times. 2 hours into it, We got our first drop. Next lich we killed: dropped. 2 drops back to back. wow. here comes the 3rd lich: dropped. 3 papyruses within 5 minutes of each other. Doubt it matters but the day was windsday and moon was waning gibbous(88%).

the only thing i say is 20 hour with th2 thf killed the lich and no drop....

Went yesterday with a pt of 68 THF, 71 BLM, 48 DRG, 50 DRK, 54 WHM and me a 50 WHM. The DRK and the DRG needed the paper. The THF, BLM and the 54 WHM went to look for it and the rest of us waited at the zone, after they killed about 7 Liches they both had the paper it took us about 20 minutes, it was lightsday.
