when i was a 13 monk i was in a party of 6 killing sheep and a pointed to stary mary not noing its was a Nm, startted to fight it checked it a said itg i yelled RUN!!!! we all ran i stupiedly stoped and came up behind me a killed me...pretty shure it killed the hole party to, damn sheep never seen her sence

Just so everyone knows, that all NM's rate "Impossible to Gauge". I mean even if a level 75 checked Stray Mary, it would rate "Impossible to Gauge" for him.

Stray Mary is the named sheep that wanders the windmill area in KH, relatively rare. She is the mob for the "Mary's Milk" quest (Sandoria). The Horn is a rare drop off Mary (i.e. not every time). I defeated Mary pretty easily solo with my 23 rdm, and was lucky enough to get the Horn dropped. It sells for 70-100k in AH (highest prices in Jeuno).

I saw her yesterday walking around the windmills...He con was "Impossible to guage" at level 15 on a Samurai. Yes, that's right...she was named "STRAY MARY."
That's right. All NM's rate "Impossible to Gauge". I killed Leaping Lizzy about 7 times and still it Rates ITG to me. Please make sure your info is right before posting. And if I'm wrong by any chance, please forgive me.
yes, ALL Notorious Monsters check as Impossible to Gauge as their description when you check them, instead of their difficulty lv (i.e. easy prey, low evasion). The only NMs that dont check as ITG are the quest ones i think, like Vatgit(sp?) in Ghelsba fortress. Leaping Lizzy conned as ITG from a lv 5 thf, now to a lv 36 thf (2/10 btw :p). the ITG rating is very misleading :(

All named mobs check as "Impossible to gauge" when you check them, it dosn't matter what level your at.

although it does say impossible to gage on a NM, after you kill it once then it is checkable. it worked with me and ol spiny spipi anywho.....

I can con the NM Yagudo in Giddeus that drop the Aspir Sword and the shield (forget the name of the shield). Both were easy prey to me before I had killed either of them.

Thats because there's a difference between named mobs and Notorious Monsters. Warchief Vatgit (orwhatever his name is) in Ghelsba is another one thats named, but itsn't an NM. All NM's con ITG at all levels. Named mobs, such as the 2 Yagu's for mission 6 in giddeus, and the warchief, can be conned.

Okay, how they con is not dependent on whether or not you have killed them. Rather, what it depends on is the level of the mob compared to you. If it is easy prey or too weak to be worthwhile, they will con like that when you check them. However, anything above that, they will have "strength impossible to gauge" or something of the sort. Crypt Ghost checked as a easy prey to my level 30 war.
*Cough* Crypt Ghost isn't a NM, it's just a rare spawn. Big difference. All NM con as Impossible to gauge! Regardless of their level to your level..

Stray Mary is definately a "named" mad sheep. We had a 6 person party, around level 12, and one of our members swore she was only a decent challenge just like the normal mad sheep (the rest of us saw her as "unable to determine"), so he attacked her. Needless to say, she slaughtered just about everyone in our party. She must be a fairly rare spawn, since we killed mad sheep for about 2 days before we moved on to the Dunes, and only ever saw the one.

Not certain myself, but I've heard mention that Stray Mary is a Mad Sheep that cons ITG.
All NM's rate ITG (Impossible to Gauge).
