I can confirm this. I'm from Bastok and currently the order of countries is: 1) Bastok 2) San d'Oria 3) Windurst
I went to get the RS Horn from a TK and was only given the 3rd place San d'Orian items to choose from despite the fact that San d'Oria is in 2nd place.
A friend from San d'Oria checked for me and she was given the RS Horn as an option. RS Horn is indeed a Rank 2 item, 2000 (San d'Orian) CP.
It seems that only 3rd place items are available to members of other countries.
I'm planning on making all my macros equip this after I have sung my song and using it as kind of a "If I don't have an instrument that raises that song maybe +3 CHR will help". Do you think this will work?
I believe I have discovered a Hidden Stat on the Royal Spearman's Horn.
Try equipping this horn and singing Paeon 1 (not paeon 2). You will notice something strange -- Paeon 1 will heal 2 HP/tick instead of 1 HP/tick!
I have tested this by unequipping and re-equipping all of my items so I know it has nothing to do with CHR or any of my other items.
My guess this was either an intentional hidden stat (since it only affects one song and not an entire line of songs) or it was an accident. I know the March +1 effect works because without the horn equipped the duration of March is considerably shorter.
Can anyone else verify this?
EDIT: Recently while I was leveling from 34 to 35 and prior to reaching 35 I sang Paeon II and noticed that it was now healing 3 HP per tick (with this horn equipped). I could have sworn it was only doing 2 prior to hunting and the only thing I did in the hunt was use Soul Voice, but I had used it about an hour prior to discovering this about Paeon 2. So now Paeon 1 always does 2 HP for me and Paeon 2 always does 3 HP if I have this horn equipped. Paeon 3 which I just got though only does 3, but I expect it to go up if the pattern continues.
this effect is probably due more to improved stats than anything. i understand from skimming through various FAQs, and somewhat from my own limited knowledge, that in extreme cases of heightened skills (singing+instrument+charisma) that regen/refresh spells increase in strength. i don't know if this is possible with ballad, or if the effect exists on every song even.
It has nifty stats (+3 chr!!), and except for BCNM40 or something it looks like this is the best insturment for bards out there, except of course the sandorian horn which is kind of the same thing (but costs significantly more). BCNM 40 is where Mary's Horn would obviously be better.
I realize this post was made a long time ago, but since the item was updated I think this comment should be as well. This horn is, in fact, good for very little. If you're the kind of bard that doesn't switch instruments at all, then I guess this is good...but if you're that kind of bard I don't really care what you do. The fact is, you should be using at least the 'song' +1 instrument, and the 'song' +2 instruments if you can afford it.
Overall, there's no reason to use this for party songs unless you're singing march and don't have a faerie piccolo (you won't even have march until 9 levels after you can use this, you probably won't sing march much anyway, and even if you do the faerie piccolo is wearable soon after lvl 29), and almost no reason to use it for offensive songs because the instruments that give + to that specific song are better. Would you use a horn that gave minuet +2 to sing madrigal? No, because that wouldn't help you at all, so why would you use a song that gives +1 march for anything other than march? Instruments have specific uses, each has its own, there are none good for more than one type of song (excluding Gjallarhorn, the upgraded relic horn, which is +2 to all songs, among other god-like stats) unless you absolutely totally need more range than a horn can give you, in which case you would use a harp until range wasn't an issue again. If you can't get Mary's Horn, or if you have a lot of trouble sticking finale (you seriously should not have any trouble landing finale on your exp mobs), this is a viable choice, until the hamelin flute. It is definitely not the "best general purpose" bard instrument by any means, because other than the Gjallarhorn, no instrument has that title.
ummmm.... Ascent Scholar i'm not sure about your server but i know for a fact that in fairy i'm asked many times if i have March (song) i have nin's that ask for mambo and march instead of double mambo i have even had a few drks and sams ask for madrigal and march.... so as for saying you will not sing it well it just depends on what server you are in..... also not to mention that in higher lvls when people need to skill up madrigal and march are great if you dont have some one casting haste on you....
No it's definately Rank 2 sandorian conquest gear it costs 2k points. I've not finished mission 6 yet since i switched allegiance to SD and i've bought it.
