I'll use this on Paladin 'til lantern shield, maybe past it. I like +1Agi and +1Vit more than 1-3 extra defense..

I tried to get this my first time after reading about it. It took me 2 hours because I didn't quite understand what to do ^^ I'm a lvl 22 RNG/NIN, and I start killing every qudav around floor 2. After reading the beetles made him spawn, I couldn't quite decide if it was the top or lower level of the machine. I killed the top lvl beetles (2 of them), then the 4 at the bottom. I went back up to the top, killed them when they respawned, and then I dectected Howlblade (on the lower lvl) with widescan. My first time I was very nervous and unprepared. I start hitting him with probably less than 60% HP. He kills me after two hours of searching. Then, he dies afterwards from my dagger's poison. And it dropped the scale gorgett. Unforunatley, I didn't get to keep it. Determined, I headed back and logged in the mines. Then, when I got on this morning, went to his location and killed the beetles. He appeared in less than 20 min. It was a very easy kill with my 2 hour. Except, when he uses Might Strikes. I would save TP and 2 hr for when he is medium in HP. I got the marine shiled on my second try. ^^ It's a very impressive shield and lowly camped NM. Going for 30-40k on Quezcoatl. ^^

this looks pretty good since im about to start leveling my BST, i'll have to go camp it next time im in lastok, i mean Bastok.

Has Anyone noticed that you block more with this shield? I think theres a hidden stat. I block a lot more than any of the other low lvl shields.
hmm ... i would guess it it not as much a hidden effect as much as the +agi
as far as i know +agi will increase your chance to block parry and evade
but who knows ... maybe there is

Well if you're comparing this to a Shell Shield, then yea, its a 3 agi difference so i would think at those low levels that could make all the difference.

Its no secret that you block more. Blocking has to do with the shield size and this one looks plenty big

This shield is nice at early levels (and even later if u need more agi and vit than what rings can offer) but once I outgrow its use what can i make off it at AH?

I think this shield is awesome right through the early levels. The stat bouneses are great, especially if you've got MNK or THF subbed and you want to keep your agility nice and high. Maybe not so good for PLD/WAR who would wanna focus on more defense and vitality.
Alot of these items can be found that are low lvl items(lvl 1-10) and have some really nice stats on it.

I used this shield for my WAR till 20
Found the NM that drops this while looking for my Kazham keys .. got this shield on my first (and only) kill. I really like the shield. Not many people use this type (the Quadav shields), and the stat bonuses are nice. Low defense, but even at lower-mid levels it's still useful.
Though if you really want this shield, I'd recommend (sp?) just buying it for 5k (at least, that's what it goes for on Diabolos). 5k isn't too much, compared to the amount of money you'd possibly be wasting by spending hours needlessly camping.

It's a lvl1 shield, thats what makes it good. If you're leveling some job from lvl1 its nice to have a nice shield from the get-go.
