drops seems so random

seems like some get the salt in an hour or even in few drops. Other take so much time it makes you want to cry. I've done 20 or 30 worms. Am wondering if it's a moon thing a day thing or a total luck thing. But if you done over 7 hours it can't be a day thing cause that's a whole week. Guess i'll try on a full moon to see if it helps.

The drop rate on this item is awful. I've been camping them for almost 5 hours as BST66, killing them with scorps as fast as they pop, and no drop. Hate this.

[edit - finally dropped after 7 hours. >.< Following night, wyvern skull took 3 hours to drop. /wrists]

Did these guys for about 3 hours in a duo. 71 Nin and 75 rdm. Killing everything but 1 mob every respawn cycle. Almost broke the latent on my Dagger of Trials doing this. Got us each a Salt though.

The nin raised his throwing skill from 180 to 208 durring this time. I'm guessing it would cap around 210 to 215. Anyway, great place for skillups while killing these, since they are not hard to kill at all.
Grrr...

i came to this area with some LS mates to get PLD test. 75 sam 75 whm 70 pld and 70 rdm <me>. we'd clear the room of all mobs waiting for the anticans to pop that drop the test. in about an hour and a half we had all gotten the salt drop. no test though...

Duo'd them them as Pld 67 with Whm 66. 30-50 xp per kill. Three 65's could trio these without issue if they had healing. (Pld was galka, so I didn't need the 3'rd to open the door)

If anyone's wanting to know where this is in general terms, this is where you fight the pot for Zm12. If you don't know where that is, scroll down to Kaibelf's post.

1 worm spawn around the Zm12 ????
1 worm spawns in a cluster **** of scorpions and anticans
2 worms spawn in the tunnel to the exit.

You can zone to the exit without falling and having to go all the way back, so if you have alot of people you can use the new zoning trick to clear the main room for a couple seconds while that worm dies. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have alot of people or someone who can continuously zone, since the mobs will respawn on top of you if you can't kill the middle room worm really fast.

Silenced and dia'ed it took 2-3 minutes to kill each worm, they have a repop time of about 10 minutes.
They link and they cast Quake.
I got my drop while typing this. happy killing.

We were there for about two and a half hours killing every worm, girtab, and antican in the area for convenience. We got one Ancient Salt the whole time, and it was off the third worm.

Man, people want to strangle Thieves when Treasure Hunter doesn't do its job.
luck or coincidence ?

it was annoying that there were only 4 of them and the repop time is long, but I won't say the droprate is bad: 4 salts in 1.5h with TH1 ^^
# Oct 17 2005 at 7:36 PM Rating: Decent
even with TH2 the droprate is really ..... farmed for 2h no drop (we need 5 @.@) and tomorrow we will try it again, fun and no sleep lol

I tried to do this part solo spent 2hrs waiting for anybody to come by to open doors but got fed up and just decided to ask someone. So i finally get to the spot and at the drop as everyone knows by the ??? for the pot part of the ZM there is always a worm. Killed it and got it right off that bat XD. Now only other down side is my warp cudgel since i came as Rdm/thf had 1 more hour until i could use so i guess i did spend just as much time as you all lol.

Ok, I finally did this Opo quest, so I'm posting helpful details on HOW/WHERE/WHAT so that you may all benefit!

For this item, you must kill Sand Diggers. NOT Sand Eaters! There IS a difference. To get to them, go to Western Altepa, and pop into Rabao for a choco - it's a LONG ride, so you'll want it. The entrance to the caves that you want to use is in the absolute southwest corner of the map (C-11). There are ruins there, but that's NOT where you enter! You follow the cave right there south, and you'll find an entrance closer to C-13/D-13. Go in there, and follow the hallway. Sneak is all you need in here.

You will come to one of those weight-sensor doors. (They require 1 galka, 3 hume/elves/mithra, or 5 tarus to activate). Don't go through that door. Instead, hang a right, and follow the hall east. It'll turn left, so follow it north. You will find another of these doors on the right side. THAT is the one you need. Go through, and follow the hallway with left or right - they reconverge on the other side of the room, and continue east. You will be in a long hallway with a mural on the left side, and a HUGE hole in the floor. Drop down.

There are your sand diggers. There are 4 spawns in the area, along with 3-4 scorpions and 2 anticans. Careful! They use strong earth-based magic! This is kinda a small, narrow cave, not a big area. When you exit, you are back in the desert, and there is a drop-down. This is ONE WAY. Only drop down if you are ready to leave!

Good luck! ^^

Okay so the drop is crap ^^; I want to try to solo this, or atleast find my way in for when I get help. I read that the plates can be pushed by 1 Galka, 3 Taru or 2 or any other race... so do NPCs count? Meaning can I get in with just me and NPC (both Elvaan).

Edit: Grabbed a few linkshell buddies, two 75 SAM 74 SMN 60 THF and myself 75 BRD total overkill by the way, easy to find the spawn spot, got the salt on 4th kill, took longer to get there than to get drop, happy hunting!

It is not a one way trip. Just like where the Cactaurs are, you can exit if you keep going up. It's just not on the map.
