Some LS members and I decided to fight some NM pops with a thf who recently joined our LS after changing servers. We went for a 2 hr pop in one part of Quiksand, but didnt get claim when it popped, so decided to wait 2 hrs and try again. In the meantime the THF asked if I wanted to check out other NM pops in the caves and he lead me to Proconsul XII. I was on blm at the time. He pulled, it linked, after a while a spider aggroed, I got silenced. so he told me to escape us as soon as silence wore cause things were getting bad. I did (after a sleepga II cast because the spider was attacking me), and we lived. (phew!)
Fought the 2 hr pop NM with the others when time came for repopping, then decided to try Proconsul XII with all 4 of us (all 75s):
THF/NIN PLD/WAR (me) RDM/BLM WAR/NIN (not sure on the subjob but most likely)
It took us about 5 mins, the war 2hrd for fun but I kept hate as well as I could and covered, the thf sata me, etc... again none of us had looked the NM up, and it happened to drop a dainslaif...which they let me have... :D It does more dmg than my durandel! lol XD
so in conclusion, 1/1 but havent tested the sword yet. :P
I was wondering if anyone knows the meaning of its name? I tried looking it up, it seems like a real word but I could be wrong...
So I start leveling pld and get it to good old 67. I see my old Dainslaif and decide to pull it out, and try it out alittle. I dont think I even noticed it proc once for my PLD. So then a couple levels later i decide to skill up on crabs in Kuftal tunnel and use Dainslaif if my hp gets alittle low. Sword does not proc at all, and I start to look around for some information, because I remember it proc'ing alot more. I see a few post about possible INT affecting it, but nothing concrete.. Well my PLDs INT of 47+0 sure isn't helping if that is true. So I switch to drk/blm, and put on some of my BLMs INT gear. Snow Rings and Demons helm +1 ect... sittin around 70+18 INT.. Sword starts proc'ing like 1 out of 3 to 1 out of 2 hits...So i would say there is Definatly something affecting the proc rate, My guess is its some sorta INT vrs the Monster's INT, the more gear I stack on the more often it proc's . I buffed myself up to about 70+44 INT i had more gear just didnt bring it. Also Drain definatly does alot more with int.. with 70+44 i was draining 72+ a hit. So if your Dissapointed with this sword, your probably a paladin or war lol.
1/1 on this guy. It was pretty rough, but thanks to Errodar and Lorelei, I obtained the sword. It's great as an offhand to my Acha d'Armas on y 68 WAR, and will be the best offhand I can use until Acha d'Armas/Juggernaut at lvl 70.
Got this Sword the other day.Good sword for farming, although I dont see it as very practical for soloing xp mobs. THe proc rate is totally random, Ive had this sword sword not proc for 5 minutes at a time and then proc 5 times in a row, draining approximately 300 HP altogether. Decent sword if you can get it, but for XP purposes, stick with either an espadon/joyeause/Company sword.
Ok i got my sword yesterday and have tested it out on too weak mobs and it only drained 3 times out of like 400 hits and it didnt drain for that much. I am a 69pld and i would rather just use my Espadon than this because of the att+ and vit+. Disappointed in this sword.
Just some information on the sword. Tis true that the additional effect will proc more often on mobs of lower level. Farming in Rolanberry Fields, it procs enough times you keep you just about at full HP, but not much more.
Soloing against EP Lesser Colibri in Bhaflau Thickets as 73PLD, I think I got it to Drain maybe 3 times in several hours, each drain for approximately 20hp. It was horrid. It still looks good enough that I use it while farming or against EP, but I'm debating on whether or not to even try it in an exp party.
On my second night it seemed to do much better. I actually got it to proc 3 times in one fight, twice in another, and a few more times within the hour I solo'd. It averaged about 20hp per drain, with the high being 30. Again, these are EP. I haven't yet tried it on anything more than that.
Now, SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION! My LS mate who helped me kill proconsul, also has one of his own. He is a taru DRK. He has heard rumor that the proc rate is effected by INT. This makes sense to me, because just in fighting proconsul his dainslaif drained 3-4 times I think. He said with his INT, somewhere around 80, he usually got about 10%, sometimes alot more.
Has anyone else had any experience with INT effecting the drain rate?
as far as proc rate, i dont think INT will help, but INT will raise the amount of HP drained when it does proc, the same way mnd will raise the dmg on holy bolts for rng.
Dropped from NM Proconsul XII(not 100%). enter G-6 West. Altep > Quicksand Caves 2hr spawn in any of the 4 rooms(2ppl required to open doors) kite all mobs+NM to zone. RDM can solo NM.
from hours of soloing, Dainslaif activates much more often on low lvs mobs(50-) than on high lv(60+). when it does activate, its for good amounts(40+hp). 3hrs of farming in pashhow, left with full hp w/o ever having to cast cure.
good farming sword and it looks hawt, but thats all it has going for it. NM is fairly easy, so no reason to not pick it up.
Today I got Dainslaif, 1/4, first time, I went with 75pld/nin(me) 75brd/whm 75blm/whm. The brd pulled, cause we needed to get him out, and he tryed to zone, while I flashed ProtXI to get hate. The brd ended up dieing close to zone. I spirits'd at 300% at the start and I was solo'ing until he was at about 80%, and the blm helped me out from there. The brd re-raised when ProXI was like at 30%. We took him down easy from there. Second time: I went with 75pld/nin, 75whm/nin, 70rdm/blm, 75thf/nin. The thf pulled, but instead of pulling links to zone, he just kept em on him. I spirit'd ProtXI, and I helped out thf a bit, while I was tanking ProtXI. He went down with extreme ease. Thrird time: 75pld/nin, 74thf/nin, 60war/nin, 72rdm/blm. Had the thf pull it, and zone the links while I kept hate on ProtXI, once again, Spirits, and the rdm debuffed him, and buffed me. We took him down pretty easy, w/ the war doing mighty strikes. Fourth: 75pld/nin, 74thf/nin, 75rdm/blm. Once again, the thf pulled links to zone, and I flashed and spirit'd and crap. He went down fast once again. Notes: The Spider did not pop once while I was doing this 4 times, so its not like it took us a while. Also, on the 3rd and 4th ProtXI, I had the THF kill it w/ sharkbite at around 3%. This helped w/ TH2. This NM is extremely easy. As a pld/nin I cept shaddows up almost the whole entire time. With a tank, and a whm, rdm, blm, or brd, you can easily, easily, duo this thing. He pops every 2hrs.
Crit merits not withstanding, I duo this with either my Maneater or my Bloodsword, depending on the situation. Versus the Bloodsword, which has a higher base DMG as well as a STR boost on it, Dainslaif tends to do more damage, and tends to crit almost 2x as often, if not more.
Which has led me to wonder - am I just lucky with my crits, or does this baby have some hidden latents on it? Because it seems to me that it a) does more damage than it should and b) crits a hell of a lot more often than it should. I'm not complaining, just wondering if I'm crazy, or if other people have had similar results.
got this today. had an alliance goin for dune boots and found that this nm was up so decided to fight it as well. tried to fight it in a tunnel then ended up runnin it to the zone and killing it there. got drop 1/1!! anyways hes pretty tough if you go in unorganized like we were lol.
Approximately 2 hrs in any of the four rooms. Soloable by ninja very easily if the ninja can clear the room to pull him :p
Me and a PLD I've been helping (soloed sewer syrup for him also xD) are 0/1 today. I trained all the anticans and he pulled the NM to the zone, then I voked, put up more shadows and zoned til he had MP.
After that we fought him standard and when he was out of MP he just rested. Full attack speed gear to take him out fast(er).
Got my Dainslaif the other day. Finally got people to help me out with it. Sweet sword looks nice. It's equivalent to the Carnage Sword (+ version of the Bloody Sword). Atleast in stats not sure if hp drain rate or anything is the same. Anyway, this sword was a lil dissapointing on the drain rate. Again I don't know if there are any secrets to it. But I like it still. Definately a sword I'd keep. Also, I'm not sure what you guys are talking about for the lvl 50 monster rule for HP drain. I've gotten drain off EP mobs with the Dainslaif and I'm currently a 72 pld. Unless I missed something then that lvl 50 mob claim isn't right.
1/3 on this thing 1/3 on the ore too, easy killed, Aparently it only drains on mobs that are lower than lvl 50, so yeah but its real nice, i have a Csword too, dual weild that, i can solo pretty damn well ^_^;;
Well just Duo'd this one successfully. Elvaan PLD/NIN 75 and Hume RDM/BLM 72. I knew we were going to win just before the fight was 1/2 over when the NM had more than 50% hp left and the PLD had over 75% mp and I hadn't converted yet. (Still had over 150mp to go) We were both buffed, he was debuffed and both of us were refreshed. A Spider that we killed a bit before the pull did spawn on us, but Sleep II kept him a non-concern til the end of the fight. Proconsul dropped the Dainslaif, which of course the PLD got. In the end, and only because of the stupid spider pop we were just around 1/2 hp each and a tad low on mp. Had the spider not popped and aggro'd we woulda been better off at the end. This NM is easily duo'd with a PLD/NIN tank and a RDM/BLM.
It's about 1/10 for me. Real nice farming sword for war since we can't cure ourselves, even if you lose a bit of raw power from axe. Drains darkness based so maybe it was lightsday when you tried it.
One night a LS mate of mine was checking on Dune Boots, and mentioned this mob was up. Seeing how I wanted it, the LS leader dragged 7 people down. When I look back apon it its WAY to much. Out of those people 3 could use the sword, as of 23 July 04 I have gotten myself and those other 2 players there own for helping that night.
