Just got done soloing Lumber Jack as whm/nin (solo whm ftw) Heres my strategy:

Kinkobo + platinum grip + pammamas
stack as much evasion gear as you can

Pull him to where there are all kinds of weak mobs around

Killed weeping willow using NPC on Stulwart Shield mode, Made sure he had hate before he poped all the babies so they all attacked him rather than me then went through killing them one by one. By the end of this NPC was pretty much dead, don't bother curing, it's not worth it stonega will kill him any ways.

Now the hard part...

be sure to keep him para at all time. Keep yourself haste barstonra and barpetra. Erase any thing he does to you reight away, but para is higher priority. after the first half hour you'll get the hang of it.

Set macros for Dia on <stnpc> and Spirit taker on <stnpc>.

When you get need mp: w/o disengaging the lumberjack Dia a Sapling wandering around the area and spirit taker him... This can all be done w/o losing claim on Lumberjack (I had a party of 6 people watching me do the whole fight waiting to take claim) from this you should easily fill your MP bar (I averaged 600)

Rinse Wash Repeat..... for about 3 hours and he'll finally go down.

Good luck and here's some screenies to prove I'm not just pullen **** out of my but :)

If you'd check the recipes, you'd see that it allows you to craft at least 3 pieces of lumber from 3 logs, 1 bundling twine, and 1 crystal. HQ results are 6 and 9.

has anyone so far quit their contract and moved onto a different guild

if so do you keep your key items that you get with guild points

i have all of my crafts at initiate
and plane to move all of them further
and saving money on all crafting would be ideal
since i want to master each craft skill

does it come down to me having to chose a craft and contracting with just one at a time
or cna i do multiples and gain all these key items????

If you change contracts, you lose ALL your built up guild points. However, you keep any key items you bought, and of course any craft+1 armors.
Skillup??

As a lower lv woodworker i was wondering if it's still possible to gain skill ups from lumberjack ??
In other words does in decrease my chances of Skill-Ups?? Or is it worth the effort??

As far as I know, it shouldn't affect skillups. If you look at a recipe for lumber, the skill cap for the single, and for the set of 3 using the lumberjack is the same. However, logically, you get more skillups if you do the logs to lumber one at a time.

Well, when you become under contract with the guild, which can only happen after crafting level 28 I believe. You can talk to the guy and he will tell you the item and how many points you can get for that specific item.

Items can range from anywhere around like 10 points a piece to like 3000 points. A lot of the lower level items, it's cheaper to buy the item at a store instead of making it.

But if you turn in all items to their max, I would say it might take you 7 days, at a lower level.
*Note: A lot of the guild items that are requested require smithing skill, most people ignore these items, so it can take longer than you might hope.

It took me about 5 days to get mine.

I got lucky and got about 4000 points turning in chestnut wands. I got a lot doing Chestnut Clubs too (although I bought the +1s, solid clubs. because the AH was out of NQs.) Chestnut wands are worth 714 (with a max of 4080) and Solid clubs are worth 447 (max 2880).

If you see either of these items as the GP item of the day, capitalize on it. They will take you far.
Okay..here is my question

I have several crafts that are in the higher levels (50+), and I was wondering, if I purchase, say, the Anima Synthesis from the Alchemy guild, then decide to cancel my contract with them to join the Woodworking Guild Points thing, do I still keep my Anima Synthesis? Just wondering about that...

The 2 places I know of is Justi's Furniture shop in sandy, and also you can go out the wooden shutter near the guild to Carpenter's Landing, and there's an NPC that sells them there for 75 gil a piece and various logs for fairly cheap.

I got this key item the day it came out on Asura server, and I've made great use of it since then. This is acquired from the Woodworking Guild Contract NPC for 10,000 guild points. You don't have to be any specific level except level 30 skill to take out a contract with the guild to get this item.

All this key item does is allow you to make 3 pieces of lumber with a bundling twine and 1 crystal. So the basic idea is you save crystals, also, it's very nice to get a HQ result with this key item. I've so far used this with ash, lauan, arrowwood, maple, elm, chestnut, and yew logs. You can get up to 12 lumber from one synthesis with this item. It's fun to shock lower level woodworkers ^^

I personally think this key item pays for itself over time. But you don't get to actually make anything new, and it doesn't help you make anything. So if you are really rich and don't care about saving 1,000 gil here and there, then don't bother with this item and move onto the more expensive key items.

I'll be checking back periodically to answer any questions about my post. Hope this was helpful

Each guild has a "Contract" NPC. You have to be at least "Novice" level before you can take a contract and begin accruing Guild Points.

10,000 G.P. for the "Lumberjack" Key Item gives you the ability to use "Bundling Twine".

I've started calling the new guild Key Items "Guild Abilities". If Provoke is a Job Ability, then "Lumberjack" is a Woodworking "Guild Ability". Once you "unlock" the different Guild Abilities, you have access to them forever.

Lumberjack is a key item. Since Lumberjack sounds like a title to me, my guess is you have to do some quest or test to earn it, and then you have access to whatever crafting abilities it grants you from then on.

The "quest" is spending 10,000 hard-earned Guild Points at the Carpentry Guild.

Question for those who have a lumberjack: do you still have it after using a recipe that requires it?
Info
# Sep 18 2004 at 8:49 AM Rating: Decent
Just joined Woodworking guild today. I noticed several of the recipes were given with two versions.

Example:
Arrowwood lumber :: Wind, Arrowwood log.

Arrowwood lumber :: Wind, 3 Arrowwod log, Bundling twine, key item lumberjack,

Perhaps at higher levels this is a way to increase craft speed? Put in the same ingredients several times and get the result several times, all with one crystal?

10000 guildpoints from the woodworking guild.
They have 2 more for 40k points, which seem to infuse wood with light and dark magic, and something called anima..
