I own both full Dragon set and full Heca set and this is what ive found:
Wearing Full Hecatomb while doing Dancing Edge, Shark Bite, and Eviscration nets 200-300 more damage than full dragon on any monster except for HNMs.
Hands down Hecatomb is great to sub in for WS in normal PTs or gods.
Using Full Dragon Harness has great merits best example that i can give is when soloing an Elder Gooboe the monster only hit me with two WS's. If people are worrying about the loss of evasion and accuracy, by the time your 73 it doesnt really matter, you will rarely miss the mob and if your evasion is capped Scorpion Harness does not give you all that much. Evasion skill equip is much better than normal evasion equip ( Master Caster mitts or Boxer's Mantle > Scorpion Harness)
Saying that i still use Dragon Harness for some HNMs where you cannot SATA the mob and the tanks depend on your TA WS. The reason behind that is that for HNM Hecatomb body gives 20-50 damage more than Dragon Harness. In those cases i just maximize my AGL.
Dragon Harness is also usefull in skilling up your parrying as the AGL helps more in that and Evasion equip makes it worse (as im told).
Please remember the - breath % on the Dragon set it can really make a difference between life and death.
Fairy is finally down to 9-12mil. imo its great if you dont have a hecatomb harness, and a SH to switch off solo when you need that extra eva/acc vs. T+ mobs.
um...there's no way this is "as good" as a hecatomb harness when it comes to a ws. Unless of course, you're all about viper bite...but shark bite is based on str and dex, not dex and agi. Personally i see a SH or even Assault Jerkin being more useful for solo'ing than this, as the acc + is always nice both for tp and for danceing edge, which we normally use for solo'ing anyway. I borrowed this once and the shark bite results were not as good as the hecatomb harness.
Still though, it all comes up to a matter of opinion...if you didn't have hecatomb i would see the merit in the dragon harness, but if you have the hecatomb, the dragon harness becomes outdated quickly
The Dragon Harness really isnt what everyone thinks, its not that great at all, hecatomb is so much better. Now that I've gotten my hecatomb harness I never use my dragon, it's pretty much useless, only piece of dragon gear I use is the pants because I dont have hecatomb yet. Only use for it would be killing something that has so low acc you dont need +10 evasion or accuracy. The +10 Subtle Blow is nice, but you need the acc and eva more from Scorpion while soloing...when I first saw Dragon gear I thought wow with all this Subtle Blow thiefs could become the best soloers in the game because they wouldnt give the mob any TP. You still need the +evasion from SH and other stuff to be able to solo perfectly without getting hit. The +evasion helps so much in keeping shadows up.
i disagree completely, for EXP pt this is much much much better than SH. i know that heca is better for WS use, but thats why u create a marco to swap it out. to any lvl 75 thfs out there, get this. sell ur SH u wont need it anymore. also, if for some reason ur a thf and +10 evasion makes that much of a difference to u when soloing, buy a narashimasa vest for abt 250k on my server, STR+3 and evasion +4 acc+4 VIT+3 those stats make it better for soloing than SH.
Man, NOBODY ever kills Jormungand, Vrtra, or Tiamat on Sylph. Not often, anyway. Vrtra's only been killed once. ONCE. Jormy and Tiamat go down once in a blue moon, it seems. I've only seen one person on the entire sylph server who owns a dragon harness. Needless to say, every single THF envies him.
Nice idea, were it not for the fact that there are plenty of HNMLSs that would rather sell the horn or the harness and split the gil, rather than giving one of their members a 15 million gil item.
Well personally I feel buying outright is better than "earning" anyday. If your in a decent or good HNMLS that splits loot you will have that kind of gil easily. With all the multimillion drops that you can get in such a short time, the amount of gil per person adds up quickly.
My current LS devides the gil in different ways depending on what we kill. Like sky drops are sold and put in a LS fund, when a player gets a abj. the LS buys the cursed item. The Jeuno HNM drops are sold and split among those who attended. A good party sized group can own most any of the NQ HNM easily, and with the price on those drops your talking millions per person that attended.
Fortunately, the majority of HNMLSs on my server are not like that (at least any of the ones worth mentioning). Items are sold only if members do not need them. I wish you luck in obtaining hard-to-acquire gear such as this.
i want this for thf aswell but i guess it will never happen i have the set ecept for the body and head and ut seems its gonna stay that way for a while. and can anyone tell me if the head is worth it or should i save my gil and use my emp pin till i get a optical hat. they are 500k on ifrit server.
The dragon items can drop from all the CoP Dragons...Vrtra, Tiamat, and Jormungand. The fights can be completed in about 2 hours as well with the right setup.
This looks amazing for thf. The dex and agi alone make it a piece all thf's will dream about. That said, ever notice how SE likes to toy with thf. Look at Hecatomb Armor. Amazing str and acc bonus for thf, but plaqued with slow effect. So Hecatomb sits on the shelf till tp is ready, sub it in, sub it out. Now for Dragon armor, sub this in for WS then back to acc gear? It's a toss up between the 2 sets, dragon offers great dex and agi with a mix of att and emnity. While Hecatomb offers the Str we lack and acc to get the job done. It will be interesting to see how the 2 sets compare. Anyone have a full set of both? Care to add your findings?
The stats on these dragon sets kills all other options for thf armor! Thats great but... That just totally kills a goal of gettin your AF2 set. I wanted to get my AF2 set ever since i started my first set. But damn I love the stats just dont like the fact that it blows your AF2 set outta the water (well except the TH+ piece lol) and Your gonna pay ungodly ammounts of gil for this unless you 1. Know someone or 2. can make it yourself. I hear there suppose to come out with new Relic items but i'll just have to wait and see on who gets what... just my opinion, I'd like to have more reason to hit up Dynamis instead of less not to. Then again i've never done 1 but they look fun.
I read some formula regarding subtle blow, according to the formula, a full set of Dragon Gear would only make the mob gain the same tp you gain. If you sub /nin, then the mob will gain less tp then you.
Basicly this is a hauberk for thieves. ***** the scorion harness, wear this instead if you can afford it.

Adjust the resolution of menus. The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting. If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.
Yea that wyrm horn is elusive. The big boys arent camped much, i think jorg has gone down 1-2 times when some ls banded together and tiamat goes down about once a week or so.
Still havent seen one sold on AH yet and prob wont happen anytime soon and then it'll prob be disgustingly expensive.
The actual stats on this harness, in picture form.
Please note, it's brand new and the synth does require a drop from Tiamet to make. LS's are slowly becoming more and more fimiliar with killing him, and as Joft said - even then it's a 4 hour fight. Give the item time to become more common (a month or two perhaps) and maybe that 15 million dollar price tag will drop. Not that the synth item will become less rare, but those with the harness may sell theirs, etc.
Any time an item such as this is added, its going to be much more expensive than it will be after the dust settles.
a 4 hour long fight with 29-31 people for one of the synth items
...and suble blow+10 gives monsters like 2 less tp every time you hit them (this is my guess and what i've heard), which means they still get 1 more tp than you get for hitting them
