I feel very, very lucky! I'm leveling thf, was in Garalaige Ctdl. late at night, waited for 2 hrs, no invites, so I decide to go try hunting LL. I get there and theres 1 60+ rdm there, but he leaves almost as soon I get there. So im there myself, and counting lizards in widescan, 5th one down, etc. I'm there for maybe 15-20 min, killed my 3rd or fourth PH, and there she is, showing up as the 6th lizard in the first group. I zoom over there fumble my macros for claim, finally end up just swinging at her w/ my dagger.(glad i was alone, lol) well I kill her and I wasnt expecting to get drop so soon, but there it was!!! WooT!!! Talk about luck! 1/1!!!

before i went to sleep last night, i decided to camp lizzy for a while, just out of boredom... ran around the hill for 20 mins or so, saw him pop, ran towards him thinking anytime now it'll be claimed... i stop can cast flash on it, claimed it, killed and got drop =D

hey ya'll I just registered today just to say I got the BOOTS! 1/2. I had hunted him 5 months ago while i was doing my exchange program in Japan. No Drop. Then I had this spur of the moment after reaching 45 THf. I see everyone's killing the Lizards so i knew it would take a while to pop. I fall asleep near my computer. Wake up, open my eyes. See everyones afk or not there, so I kill one placeholder. Go take a ****, come back and BAM! there he is, no one's near him. I go to him kill him and BOOM! get the Drop =) To all those out there who say that the placeholder's trick don't work.... Think again XD

please tell me you were partied with someone... if you were soloing, they can't drop cause you have a pair already since theyre rare
Correction they are a "Rare/Exclusive" if it's a "Rare" only you can get more than one.

Correction, "Rare" means you can only hold one. "Ex" means that only you can hold it (but you may hold more than one if "Ex" only).

The Bounding Boots are Rare/Exclusive, meaning they can't be sold or traded. However! There are still Leaping Boots in circulation, from the Ghelsba BCNM (and a few from before Lizzy's drop was changed). These sell for around 2.5-3mil at the Jeuno AH on the Valefor server.
hey i was wondering...is it possible to make bounding boots into winged boots? i know it's possible to make leaping into winged. i mean...the 2 more DEF isn't like really that worth it but i just wanna know if it can be done. i mean...i'm really far away from the skill needed to make winged boots and i can't trade em to ne1 to make em for me...but jes wanna know lol. I got these boots outta chance...my friend was going to bastok and he stumbled upon LL. I was also in south gusty at the time so he told me to accept his invite (thankfully he had a full inventory so it went in his "treasure") so i invited, casted lot on it and got it! lol lucky me >.>
If bounding boots could be crafted into winged boots it would not have solved the problem of RMT dominating the spawn. SO your answer, no these cannot be crafted into winged boots, although the extra 2 defense doesn't do that much.

Oi i just camped her for 10 hrs and she only spawnd 1 time the hole time
So I was walking back to Bastok one day from Valkurm Dunes as a lv14NIN/WAR...(not being able to Outpost Warp sucks ~.~) Well I get to F-6 and I'm targetting all of the Lizzards to see if maybe Lizzy was up. I cast Ustusemi just in case. I finally decide Lizzy wasn't up when I walk up a hill to find her just standing there. o.O I voke her quickly and luckily I had utsusemi up so I was safe. A second later, a high lvl mage comes running up and is sad to see Lizzy claimed. :( Well I kill her, got a Liz tail, and went on my way to Bastok. ; ;

Mu friend and I got lucky on these. He was helping me get the Kazam keys and we were on our way back to Bastok to hop up on chocos and head out to Sandy. I was on /follow most of the time because I had some stuff to do. Well, I walked into my room and saw he had targeted Leaping Lizzy and it was half down.

Basically, it just popped right in front of him. It was great. He got the boots (talk about luck). I passed, I really don't have any need for them.

So i'm in jeuno bored outta my mind and I had got this crazy idea to go camp LL. I get a D2 which takes me to my HP(Valkrum Outpost) Opwarp over to North Gust and stroll on down to South. I had talked to my buddy about PH and all that jazz with LL. So i kill the PH(bottom liz, on the first group of 5), use Sharpshoot for a 5min stamp on when next pop will be. I then ran around gathering up all the liz's i could find just for the fun of it. Kill them all and check Sharpshot, and had 7 seconds left on it. So right before i go into widescan i see a BLM/RNG strolling the area, figured i would stay ahead of him. He paused so i checked WS and saw lizzy and then closed WS, then smacked myself opened back up WS and targeted LL, since it was nighttime and im ninja i had quite the speed, used hawkeye to claim and killed LL with a critcal and a normal...

I totally flipped put them on and 2houred to leave the area. So now i'm 1/1 on VE, and 1/1 on LL with a total camp time of under 30mins, which makes up for the 2/34 on nikkaroe.

Here`s an interesting question, not sure if its come up before, but I`m sure many of you would have thought about it.
Lets say, You have a pair of Leaping Boots, your wandering through South Gustaberg and chance upon Leaping Lizzie. You kill her and Bounding Boots drop.
Considering both leaping and bounding boots are technically the same item and bounding boots are rare/ex (cant carry more than 1 of the same type of item) will you be able to recieve the boots or will you get the message "You Do Not Meet The Requirments" etc etc and lose the drop?
Just a thought, be interested if anyone has tried this out.

You get the boots. Different name, so the R/Ex only applies to another pair of Bounding Boots. Many ppl that have the Leaping Boots or the Emperor Hairpin camped these same NMs a second time around to get the R/Ex versions so that they can sell the other ones. Makes for a good trade when you get all the stats of the original gear AND about 8 mil in cash. I unfortunately was not one of those fortunate people that had the version 1 items, but oh well, least I have the R/Ex ones now.

Desided to finally try and camp ole LL now that ts for bounding......1/2 felt like the luckiest guy alive so said wth went over to Valkurm and BAM! 1/1 empress hairpin *grins*
3 hours for both total not a bad nights work =D

I am currently getting back into the game on the 360 Beta. I played for two years up until last summer, when my second son was born. Wife and I went on hiatus then, and are just now getting back. In all that time, no matter how long I camped LL, I never even saw her, let alone claimed or killed her. I was starting to think that it was all some big joke...

My friend and I were going to dunes to lvl. I told him to go without me because I could warp there. A few minutes later he asks, "what is this leaping lizzard?" I yell out "ATTACK IT!" then he starts saying he wont because its "impossible to gauge" but I keep telling him to attack it and run untill I get there to help him kill it. So I start running there as a lvl 10 war/sam and he is a 10blm/rdm.
He finaly binds it and I get there a few seconds later. We both attack it and I use my 2 hour (had a great axe so it was nearly pointless) I voke and it attacks me. I get like 1 hit off but my friend is nuking the hell out of it. He takes agro and gets petrified with about 20ish mp. By this time I have 150ish hp and he has 60ish. I finaly get voke back and voke it off of him. It has nearly 0 hp left but I cant hit it at all. I get to about 50 hp and am panicing. I start to run a bit and other people watch as I nearly die!
(asses! I always heal people when the get a NM pop like when i was PLing a pt as my 43 rdm I ran to help a drk fighting VE and he got drop! and me? I got a thanks and I hope others will be kind enough to help others)
My friend finaly becomes unpetrified and casts water for 6 damage killing it. No drop after all that trouble! =/ My friend is new to the game but he is only oing to be a mage so I would have got the drop for my ninja and thf. =/

The One and Only time i bumped into this happy little fellow, completely by accident I might add. I got the Leaping Boots...currently I am inactive on FFXI as i had a problem with my ps2, but I am coming back, Keep a look out for me in the upcoming weeks on Bahamut...I might be willing to sell them, for a price of course ;)
I decided to camp LL for the first ever time, so off I go to basty, Via airship, when i arrive I run all the way to LL spawn where I am met by an anon thf/rng. I look behind him and there is Lizzy, staring at me so i quickly voke and dispatch the mob, boots dropped :) to the dismay of the thf/rng who simply replied "It`s my own fault for going AFK" I wave goodbye and leave.
Total LL camp time 15 seconds

Leaping Lizzy and I are practically best friends now. I've claimed and killed her 26 times with my boyfriend.

i'm not here to brag or what not but i had a good experience with lizzy, one day a link shell friend had helped me get VE drop cause he has millionaires desk, so far he got the hairpin 5/6 tries since he got it, well hour later i was waiting for a party invite with me sam, and at that moment decided to go camp lizzy, so i changed to thf/rng so i set off and half way there i scanned and he was up i was like wow so i used flee and went for it got there noone was around so i had claim and the bugger dropped, making it 1/2 on him i was happy and had to brag to my linkshell, so don't give up keep try

I got my boots in a weird way: I was on my way to camp Lizzy when i see a lvl 10 Taru healing by the pop location. Me being a 50 thf/whm, I heal him and give him buffs, he thanks me, and i told him that it was no problem. About 15 mins go by and i see about 8 people running toward something, Lizzy had popped. So i follow everyone else to find that the same lvl 10 Taru got the claim, and was getting his @$$ kicked. I notice that no one was healing him (for obvious reasons) So, i start to heal him, and then he sends me a party invite. I join his party, and do a "Sneak Attack/Fast Blade" combo on Lizzy, killing him. He drops the boots. To my utter suprise, the lvl 10 Taru tells me that i can have the boots and to lot on them. Without hesitation, i cast lots and "Oozaru Obtains a pair of Bounding Boots". I thank him and asked him out of curiousity why he just gave up the boots like that. He said because i healed him and gave him buffs before, and started healing him when he claimed Lizzy, he thought i should have the boots for there was no way he was going to defeat him as a lvl 10. Suprised with the answer, i thank him once more, and head back to Bastok, a happy camper....literally. :D
