Know any mid-level clothcrafters? If nation is in first, flax flowers are only a couple of gil at the airport shop, I forget the precise recipe but as I recall, it takes 6 ff and 4 crystals to make a linen cloth.

Or a lowish level leathercrafter? Dhamel hide very easy to get, add a couple of hundred gil worth of materials to synth the hide into leather.

Steel ingot? A level 25 smith can desynth gob gear (forget which one) and end up with a steel ingot if you HQ.

Etc., etc. Does not have to be so expensive for the first couple of gobbie bags. By the time you get to V or VI, then you are starting to talk serious gil...

By the way, for those of you who are still coming up the ranks and fighting in the Dunes... Get the first time quest done with the sheepherder in Selbina (millicorn, cabbage and moss), and after that, just bring a stack of moss each time you come to the Dunes (fairly expensive now, but at least you get 600 gil back for each moss you trade, one by one by one) to the sheepherder. Moss is most effective, and raises Bastok, Sandy, Jeuno and Rabao fame fairly quickly. I did 14 stacks and 2 local Jeuno quests and was at max Jeuno fame. First time I went to Rabao on a map run, I was amazed to find that I could pick up every Rabao quest, including some that I would need another 30-35 levels to approach.

However you do it, the extra gobbiebag space is (imho) probably the single most important item you can get in the game. So do it as soon as you can.

Got this one done for 24k. Bought all my items in Jeuno.

Dhalmel Leather: 3k
Linen Cloth: 5k
Peridot: 7k
Steel Ingot: 9k (almost 10...lucky me)

For an extra 5 item spaces, 24k's a good bargain.

Unfortunately, the next one is looking much more expensive. 20k for a Turquoise...in every town!

I got mine on Remora, 1st of June 2005

Steel Ingot @ Mhaura : 6500 Gil
Linen cloth @ Windy AH : 4500 Gil
Peridot @Jeuno AH : 12000 Gil
Dhamel leather @ Windy AH : 4000 Gil

So that's 27k. I only had access to 2 Ah's though.

Alright, I've got Rank 1 fame in Jeuno, and I'm wondering if there's an NPC I could trade some items to and raise my fame enough to get my first Gobbiebag. Thanks!

The easiest thing to do is get fame in your hometown. I was doing quests in Sandy to get my fame up to 3 for the drain quest, and in turn my jeuno fame went up to 2. Fame in Jeuno is based on jeuno quests and also other nations fames too. I'd say try the bat wing quest in sandy, or yag necklaces in windy or something along those lines. The jeuno quests can be a lot more work than just farming yags for a little while, and then you get fame for the other towns too while you're at it.

Another good one is trading moss in selbine. It raises your fame in bastok and sady at the same time, along with your jeuno fame, and I think it even raises Rabao fame too, according to an LS member that has Hero fame in Rabao. If anyone can confirm this, post a reply.

From my memory, the Yagudo Necklaces quest with Nanaa Mihgo in Windy builds Norg fame, not Windy fame. But if you run around killing crawlers (like the other 50 billion of us) and get the crawler calculi, you can trade it to the dhamel farmer in Windy Woods for some small gil- but you also get the silk threads from them, so it's there is a side benefit to it. They also drop smooth stones, which the lady in the Rarab Tail (or whatnot) in Windy Waters will take at random for tiny gil also. If you kill the rarabs on this adventure, they'll drop random aspects of mail, which you can give to the big guy next to Windy Walls AH. And if you kill bees or crabs, the beehive chips and remi shells you can trade to another chick in W Woods not too far from the Yag Necklace lady or the Dhamel Farm/ Crawler Calculi lady. ... ... In other words, killing things in Sarutabaruta leaves you lots of room to build fame. ... I'm not quite sure what the fastest way is yet, but I do enjoy killing things. ^___^

Some use mules as do I but how do you store all those drops/crafts while waiting for AH slots? It took me a while to figure it out but if you are familiar with the delivery folks near the ah you can have an "infinite" inventory. What I am referring to is the delivery box in your own mog house. Mail items that you want to stow to yourself, then go to moghouse and check deliveries. remove any unsold ah items gil or items sent by other people and "return" the items to yourself. This will drop them at the back of the list. You can check again to get all "new" deliveries until items are all either removed or resent to self. Return to delivery guy and add 8 more items to the pool. Now granted this wont work with all item <rare/ex><rare> <some ex like mannequin parts> but it is most effective for things like yagudo necks and crawler calcs that you may want to store for fame but require more items, or for those crafting days when you want to skill up but dont have room at ah to resell it.
This is also a nice trick for leveling multiple low level jobs. level one like whm and resend all gear home and go level blm and pull out the gear as you lvl. esp on new char with limited space.
This trick should allow you to free up alot of space in mog house as well so you can put any unsendable items away for later use.
and unlike storage you can recover your items from any moogle that serves as a delivery box.

Yeah I do that a lot with my mules, but I'd advise using some common sense with it. At some point there's gotta be a limit on the number of items you can have waiting on delivery, and I'm not sure how it handles maxing out. I do this a lot with stuff like iron ores that I'm likely to have a lot of but which aren't very expensive individually, but I wouldn't wanna risk losing something valuable. Besides - it can be a real pain cycling through the whole list to get to that one earring you sent yourself last Tuesday.

This *is* a nice way to keep items that you can normally only hold one of, though. ^^

- Steel Ingot : 11k
- Linen Cloth : 4k
- Peridot : 8k
- Dhalmel Leather : 2.5k

Of course this was on Bismark which is a real expensive server to begin with -_-, cant wait to see how much gobbie bag 2 racks up ta.
Required Fame Tested

I just tested this, you need rank 2.0 fame for this
I was Jeuno rank 1, couldn't get the quest, did the Community Service quest once, hit rank 2, and got the quest.

how u do it
# Dec 03 2004 at 7:24 PM Rating: Good
if u think about it this is THE best way to do this quest...

Just buy your items in the 3 citys...
in jeuno they are kinda expencive because the quest IS IN JEUNO!!!!

so all u need to do is go to bastok , sandy , windy and get your items

dont go getting your panties in an up roar.. my good ness ;_; It depends on your server, what nation you're from, whos in first and your fame. i've seen it at the guild for fairly cheap in comparison to auction house, normally around 1.5k if i remember correctly. So, cool it :)

..farm..

go to palabourogh mines, carry about two stacks of pickaxes on you, and a weapon. Kill quadavs, they rake in about 10-40 gil apeice depending on what floor (floors 1-2 easiest to do this) and keep searching for mining points. Kill scorpions for some claws and shells, the run about 1.2k for shells and 800g for claws on fenrir. This helps bring in a little extra cash.Keep your eyes peeled for Zhi'gi boneeater and Bu'Ghi Howlblade as you are running along. Zhi'gi drops a sword called braveheart, wich goes for about 20k on fenrir and bu'ghi drops marine sheild for about 5k.Keep running through this place in circles, and keep your eyes peeled, you can find a good bit of rewarding ores at mining points, such as platinum ore, worth 20k and mythril (wich i seem to strike often) for 1.4k. I hope this helps anyone out there who is in need of some cash and wants to get more gobbie bags, it will be worth it later on farming.

Just another thing to farm for
# Oct 18 2004 at 1:08 AM Rating: Decent
On Alexander it will run you about 22k for all the items in this quest. Just look at the 5 additional slots in inventory as just another thing you have to farm for. Same as that new spell, or new piece of armor. Quite a few of the items can be crafted. Your skill doesn't have to be super high, but decent. I still think it's just faster to save up, and buy it all at once.

Dhamel Leather 2k
Linen Cloth 3k
Peridot 12k
Steel Ingot 5k
Best way to attack it

I was able to get this around lvl 25, lvl 4 fame in windy. That was a while ago and I still haven't done it cause I never had the money...

Unless you rake in the $ easily, the best way I think to take on the gobbiebags is to do a little at a time. On one trip to Jeuno buy one of the items. A couple days later buy another and keep them in your safe. Then it won't feel like it costs so much, depending on how far apart you spread the purchase of each item it probably won't seem to have any impact on your wallet.
wow....
# Sep 30 2004 at 10:39 PM Rating: Decent
On my server, Ragnarok, the prices of the items in Jueno are:

Dhalmel Leather - 2.2k
Steel Ingot - 5k
Linen Cloth - 4k
Peridot - 10k

For a total cost of 21.2k

Too bad I'm poor :(

from my experience, if you have enough fame for the drain, and rse quests then you you will probably have enough fame for this one. not sure what my fame was at the time but i know that i got those quests before getting this one. btw, can you get any of the gobbiebag items from drops (if so, tell me where ^^;) or do you have to blow all your gil on the items at the AH?

Fame? I did as many quest possible in Jeuno first. (not much) then handed in 10 stacks of Cabbages to the person in Selbina next ot the sheep. After that, I was able to do this quest, RSE, and many more in Jeuno.

I think that the estimated fame required for this quest is wrong. I have level 2 fame and can't get the quest. Anyone know how much fame you really need?
