Summary

Norejaie wants you to exterminate an ecological threat and bring her evidence of the feat.

Walkthrough

Norejaie is located in the Lion Springs Tavern at (K-6)

Also potentially referred to in game as the V.E.R.M.I.N. quest. It involves traveling to La Theine Plateau and heading into Ordelle's Caves. There Rojaireaut will "smear a scent on you" (cast a Level Down effect on you) to "draw the beast out" and then you're off to explore the caves and hope whatever jumps out at you.

You have to go to the bottom of Ordelle's Caves to find a stalactite with a ??? tag. When you click on it Necroplasm spawns. Due to the level cap it took two full parties to take down Necroplasm. He hit for around 100 on level 20 warriors. After beating Necroplasm, re-examine the ??? and receive a key item. Go back to the inn in Southern San d'Oria and you get 5,000 gil and a page of the Dragon Chronicles.

One or all?

n00b question...

If all party (alliance) members get the quest from Norejaie do you all get the reward after completion? Or is there only one key item?
RE: One or all?
# Mar 06 2004 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
After your alligence kills it, everyone must touch the ??? to get the key item. If you died, don't worry. As long as your alligence killed it...get a Raise, get the oil reapplied and touch the ??? for the key item.

Sorry but there will be no solo-ing this bad boy. Unbelievable difficulty since everyone is capped to level 20 unless maybe you've done all 4 gobbie bag quests and have your inventory full of potions then MAYBE if you have a fast enough reaction to slurp down the potions quick enough and have high defense you might be able to last to the end.

pretty simple

I and a few others from ls and some other friends went to do the eco-warrior quest a few days ago. And it was fairly simple we had a whm in every grp along with a blm or rdm and a bunch of warriors/thfs/one dragoon and about 2 or so paladins. And nobody even came close to dying only when the will-o-wisp jumped us but even then everyone's hp went to the orange/yellow. Had a few ppl who forgot to put on the lvl cap ointment or forgot to bring some lvl 20 armor those who forgot the ointment or got d/c was basically left behind lol. But it was good for the 800exp and 5k gil

Sylph Server:

Going to try to run this quest weekly on Thursday nights. If you want in, we'll be meeting in Sandoria at 8o'clock eastern time (GMT -05:00). I'm a 20war/10mnk with good eq, so I'll be a tank (and will probably have the highest risk of death :-P). Anyways, if you're interested, show up and send me a tell. Preference will be based initially on class and how well I know you :-P, and from then on, if you were there the previous week, and you show up the next, you will be guarenteed a spot.

Victory is mine!

Our LS gathered a group of 7 people, a WHM in each alliance. The PT with the main tank had a RDM as a backup healer. Worked our way pretty quickly through the gobs, killing them as we went. Wiped out every gob in the large room with the "???" and then got a full heal. Touched the "???" and kicked its little a$$ ^^

Can't have multiple Eco Warrior quests. If you haven't completed it in one nation, you can start another one in another.

I did this quest on the Lakshmi server with people from my linkshell and it went great. We had a 15 person alliance and 3 escorts, lvls 44-50. On the way in nobody died but when the slime thing attacked one warrior took all the aggro and died, he was our party leader too. Just be careful when doing this quest to have several white mages, black mages, and warriors that can take turns provoking. Then on the way out alot of people warped and gobs ended up nuking most of our party. Prize of 5000 gil and 500-1000xp is great but the fame is what you really want ;), i got 867xp from the dragon page, one guy in my alliance got 998xp...lucky *******.

my linkshell on Leviathan Omfg and a few extra people making 16 total did this today. I thought it was very easy for the ammount we had, no one died, and took only a min or so to kill. Got the reward of 5000 gil and a Page from the Dragon Chronicles which I used on my self and gained 764 experience.

a few tips. 1) You can buff yourself with buffs higher then level 20, I used Protectra II on my group, and reraise on myself.

2) try to get a alot of diff classes to go, but make sure every group in your alliance has a healer.

3) make sure you have the people who will need to be healed most easily taregtable.

idiots in a party
# Jan 17 2004 at 10:46 AM Rating: Default
I have tried this quest 3 times and all times some idiot has to do something stupid....dont you just hate those noobs. well anyway we had a full alliance of 18 people. every job you can think of. we always get to the bottom of the cave and then the stupid start going after the ??? while the goblins are still around, ...dumbasses. but anyways long story short we killed all th goblins ....almost dead....and that one idiot had to push the ???. of course we all got wiped out and when pvp comes that guy is DEAD!!!!. i still remember who he is! but yea this quest is very hard and i still havent passed it. so if anyone wants to do or help with this quest send me a tell.
Worth it.....I think not
# Jan 16 2004 at 11:33 AM Rating: Default
Okay, I'm really debating whether this quest is worth it or not. I got together a three party alliance and we set out for Ordelles. We made pretty quick work of the gobs, with the exception of a couple of idiots who thought we were doing so well, they'd pull a few more gobs for us to fight. We lost two WHMs that way. So we went back up, got the mages again, reapplied the ointment, then headed back down. It took me the whole trip down there to get them functioning as a small army. We got to the room and as I was searching for the ???, they decided we were in the wrong room and ran back up to drop through those holes in the floor. I chased after them, desperately trying to get them to listen to me. They chose to drop through one of the holes. For whatever reason, I followed after them, hoping to talk some sense into them and get them to follow me. Just as I dropped down, they were attacked by a Stroper. I provoked the Stroper and told them to run while I held it off. I'm a level 20 Paladin, the most I could buy them was a few seconds. They didn't listen. Instead, they decided to fight the monster. I died very quickly. Not until over half the alliance was dead, did they finally beat the Stroper. They beat it just in time to have another Stroper come down on them.

Basically, all I'm sayin' is when you do this quest, get people that you know. I made the mistake of throwing together a rag-tag band of warriors, and got smashed. On the bright side though, everyone sent me a tell afterwards apologizing for not listening to me and telling me that they'd party with me anytime. So, it wasn't a total loss. But I think that I could have spent that time a little more wisely. Such as farming or leveling up. At any rate, this was just my experience. I wish everyone else the best of luck with this quest!
repeatable
# Jan 16 2004 at 5:19 AM Rating: Default
yes this quest is repeatable every 1 vanadiel day you can do it. i have done it 5 times already and each time i get the 5k and the dragon scroll
Just did it
# Jan 14 2004 at 11:58 PM Rating: Default

Me and my LS just did this quest as an alliance. We spent an hour scouting around , but when we finally lcoated the ??? in G-10 Map2 ... it only took us less than 20 mins to go from the VERMIN wgent who gives ointment and kill the NM. The ??? is reachable by taking the path to the left of the VERMIN agent and following the tuunnels until you reach an intersection to where you go left or straight.. go straight and you'll find the ??? to the North East of that big room... be sure to clear the area of goblins... also watch out for the Will-O-WIsp.

Kudos to the Harrypotter LS in Phoenix ^^ We pwn!
Hehe
# Jan 09 2004 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent
Just some kind warning. Use this quest as a test for your guild. Get a full alliance with lvl 20 gear and see how organized you really are. If you can't pull of either of the 3 Eco-warriors, you've got a problem. (BTW, Ordelle is by far the easiest compared to Shakhrami and Gusgen)

This 'problem' I speak of is the BCNMs. You want to see hard, wait till you can do them, if this bothers you, you'll wet yourself to them. 10 lvl40 NM > 6 lvl40 PCs. ><
Darn Help Button
# Jan 07 2004 at 3:01 PM Rating: Default
Yeah i've tried this freakin quest like 5 times now and i should have had it done on the second attempt. We had a great group going with 2 pathmakers ahead of us clearing all the gobs on the way, they didnt take the lvl cap because they already completed this mission but were willing to help us out. The path makers cleared the way all the way to the NM. They got rid of all the gobs in the area where the big fight happes, whicch by the way in oredelss cave is towards the left after you get the ointment. After the room was clear, we rested before the big fight and no one clicked the ??? spot until the leader said so. We had some good communication skills going. Ok, so the fight started and the monster had maybe 5% health left, and some idiot clikced the help button, and in turn we got nothing. We killed it and there was nothing. We all survived the fight until..the same idiot reclicked the ??? spot and the thing respawed on us, and killed us all. From that point on, i have not been able to complete the quest alive yet. Every other time ive tried, the NM has killed our entire alliance. It just really got under my skin when we were so close to finishing the quest soeone had to hit help and ***** the whole thing up. If anyone on the Carbunkle server wishes to do this with me send me a tell if i am on. Name is Dantheman. I'd be looking for all the help i can get.
questions
# Jan 06 2004 at 2:34 PM Rating: Default
Does anything special happen if you complete all three Eco-Warrior quests?

Is there a fame: V.E.R.M.I.N. (similar to the Tenshodo fame)? Maybe a more advanced quest if you build up this fame?

To those who said it's easy to find a group for this; I've tried several times on my server (Asura), and most people (level 18-30) haven't even heard of this quest, or are unwilling to help out. If anyone on Asura wants to do this, send me a tell and I'll drop whatever I'm doing to help out.

bastok eco-warrior
# Jan 06 2004 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
I tried the bastok verion of this quest the other night. 18 of us mostly from the same linkshell. it takes place in the gusgen mines. you have to fight your way through the skeleton warriors, ghouls, bardersnatches and bogys. when you finally make it through all that you have to fight 2 puddings. 2 blobs that completely wiped out our 18 member pt in less then 15 seconds flat. we tried this quest twice. first time we got aggroed pretty bad by ghouls and bogy that wiped out the party. second time we made it to the quest NM's but some nimrod went and hit the ??? while we were discussing battle plans and we got wiped. my advice... don't invite any idiots who don't understand the meaning of "don't touch the ??? until the leader says so".
the quest is tough, extremely tough. be prepared to take a beating.

At about the same time, we had 18 people go through the quest on Carbuncle server. One of the organizers failed twice and knew exactly what to do. everyone went got the ointment together, went in together, and it went well except for a lot of screwups here and there. A handful of people fought the critters coming in while the rest rode on their coattails. It was dumb luck a black mage accedentally used his warp macro on the way in, warped back and tried sneaking in but got killed, and during the fight a provoking warrior or two got killed. what really ticked me off is after the fight a lone goblin wasted several people singlehandedly while a lot of people did nothing. either they went off for a bathroom break or got a case of the Kitty Genevese syndrome, I don't know. then a bomb wandered in and blew up me and a few others. but the rest waited for the ointment to wear off and revived us, and we fought our way out a bit better than when we came in, despite the fact we only had 11 people left. 5000 gp was nice, along with an item that gives 500-1000 xp, considering you'll get very little, if any, fighting in an alliance.
But yeah, organization and communication are the important things in this quest, along with a white mage in every group. two in the one with the warrior who uses provoke.

Today a full alliance of 18 people completed the quest on the Rag. server. We had no problems with team work until we got to where we needed to be. WARNING: Clear the area of all the Goblins or and other aggro mobs around before someone clicks on the ???.

We killed the slime creature that popped up when someone clicked the ??? on. But there was also a couple goblins attacking and a Will o Wisp bomb. The Gobs died, the slime thing died, and the Wisp blew up and killed almost all of us before we could click on the ??? again to claim our evidence. Or Alliance leader started to raise others that were dead but the level down effect was gone and nothing happened when they clicked on the ???.

We went all the way back up as a alliance. We thought we were going to have to fight it again. We all talked to the guy that gave us the level restriction to put it back on. Went slowly and carefully back down and complete cleared the room for the big battle again. We clicked on the ??? to begin and we got the evidence, we did not have to kill the slime again.

The best part about this quest was that it was actually easy to get people to join in the alliance. A lot of people want to do this quest, someone just has to start recruiting. 12-18 is the ideal amount of people you want for this quest.
Oh yeah, the eco quest..

I have done this quest last night. We had a full alliance. A few of us were below lv20, but most were in the 20-30 range. Being a 31whm, I was the highest level in the group.

Anyway.. none of us knew too much about the quest, so we just went to Ordelles and fought our way down to a dead end with a lot of goblins. We assumed it must be here somewhere, but wanted to take out the goblins first. Unfortunately, someone had activated the slime before all goblins were killed - this lead to the death of a party member, a black mage. He was killed by a goblin though, not the slime. We got the slime killed (I was diseased and couldn't recover my MP for about 10 minutes), but got attacked by more goblins, which lead to another alliance member using benediction... she got killed. Those were the only two deaths that happened, but that's still two unneccesary deaths.

All in all, the quest was easy enough, but we lacked some serious organization.

we tried this quest today. spent 3 1/2 hours getting 18 peopleplus an escort. Then we started going left and some idiot said "Hold on, the monster is to the right of the cave. So we gradually worked our way right had a couple links drop and they had to put the "level down" effect back on, we had to fight back to that guy, had to get a raise, then when we finally got all the way to the end of the right, the ??? marks didn't do anything, our group organizer casted an aoe which aggroed just about every in the damn zone, killed 4 people before it was over. Then I committed suicide to get out of that place as I have no map.

Someday I'll go back and do this quest. Hopefully soon, uber rewards.
