In-Game Text

In Port Jeuno start at the left covered stairway, as you are heading towards the docks, is a npc(dont remember name) standing in the corner there.

He will explain about monsters being trapped inside orbs that have eaten treaure. He explains on how to summon the creature, he tells you that if you take one of these orbs to a burning circle in either giddeus, ghelsba or palborough mines, and trade it to the burning circle, you will summon the creature within. He will give you a different orb for the amounts of 40, 50 and 60 beastman seals that you trade him. After you have traded him for one of the orbs, it may seem as if it cant be done again, but just trade him more seals and he will give you one of the other orbs. I dont think that you can get the same orb again.

The caption included with each orb is about the level cap for the creature within the orb. The level cap is the same thing as how many seals you give them for the orb.

I.E. 40 seals= Lvl 40 cap for creature.

Orbs are called Star Orb, Moon Orb and Comet Orb.

Beastmen Seals

Pretty much everything drops the seals. I was fighting a DC rabbit in Battalia Downs and it dropped one. Just as long as it's a EP or higher.

Farm as a whm with an underleveled sub? :o Impressive
What about BCNM 20
# Jan 07 2005 at 10:12 AM Rating: Excellent
you do know that there is an orb with level cap 20 right? didn't see a single post mention this... for instance i know the one in Ghelsba is a group of **** whoopin bats called furries. And the pt size is limited to 3 players. (almost beat those bloody bats with me whm/blm, a smn/whm, and a thf/war.... if only the thf had taken a job that coulda kept the hate better.... one more blood pact and we woulda won >.<)

Most people seem to overlook the fact that there are BCNM's below 40, since the general opinion is that the treasure won from 20 and 30 isn't worth the fight. *shrug* Personally, I wasn't as concerned about the winnings from those fights as much as I was with just having the personal satisfaction of knowing that I'd won the fights. Smiley: smile But yeah, you do have a point..there is BCNM life below lvl 40. Smiley: grin

Actually BCNM20: "Wings of Fury," aka the one at Ghelsba Outpost now drops Astral Rings which sell for 500k in Jeuno on Asura right now, quite a profit.

I hate the world. Barely over a year, and Astrals on Asura are 'bout 3 mil.

Easy way to do it

Did the lvl 40 BCNM in grotto 6 times last night. Very easy fight. Everyone in group brought their own star orb and whoever turned in hte orb for that turn got all the loot from that time. We had a whm, blm, and 4 beastmasters. ONe of the beastmasters makes a pet, then BLM does elemental seal and sleepga. The 8 cottontail will go to sleep and just the boss will stay awake. The 1 beastmaster that has a pet puts it onto the main mob, and the other beastermasters charm the sleeping cottontails and attack the boss with them. The the beastmaster with the summoned pet releases it and charms another cottontail. The four cottontails will kill the boss and then they can put them onto the other 4 cottontails. BLM only job is to use sleepga over and voer again on any rabbits that wake up. WHM with blm sub helps with sleeps and heals if anyone gets in trouble. This worked 6 times in a row last night with no deaths. I got the erase scroll, ice spikes scroll, oak log, thunder mantle, and druid's belt during my round.

You keep the orb, but it is not useable again. The only indication of this is that when you go back and trade the orb to the Burning Circle, you get a message that says that the orb is cracked. If you want to save the trouble of having to head back up to the Burning Circle when your orb won't work, you should just Drop the orb as soon as you lose after trading it. Just remember that the only orb that cracks is the one that was traded to the Burning Circle.

Confusing Posts
# Feb 24 2004 at 1:57 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, these conflicting posts have me confused about a few things...

1) If I lose in a BCNM fight, do I still have the orb?

2) If I use the Comet Orb in Giddeus and pick the wrong box, do I still keep the orb?

3) If my party wins a BCNM fight, how is the loot distributed? The usual lotting?

4) How many items do you get for winning? Do I get the same number of items if I do the Comet Orb in Giddeus as I would with a full party doing a different one?

I went into Giddeus as BLM47/WHM23 and picked the small box. I received a Rogue's Ring, Platinum Ore and 1466G. >< I wanted an ancient spell....
# Feb 15 2004 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
so, you could get a star orb, then go to a circle and use it for a guess at the three treasure chests. If you miss the first try, you could still come back again to the same circle and try once more?
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 11 2004 at 4:05 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Choose your party members carefully. For BCNM40 be sure to be lvl 40+ with some exp buffer because usually first timers will die.
Contemplating suicide...

I did the comet orb one, picked the wrong box, died. And now I can't use my orb anymore, can't try again as I thought I'd be able to. I died with my blm, died with my whm, spent about 2000+ gil to get to durst, and now I can't try again, really makes me want to quit this game. As if 50 seals isn't already hard enough to aquire, they have to ***** you....

I tryed this out today with a group from my ls and god its hard. we tryed bcnm with lvl 40 cap the one near sandoria not sure of the area name but anywa it was a hole bunch of rabbits. proboly 6+ small ones and 1 white large rabbit. we attacked the white one to get it out of the way everyone using 2hours and such and got it down 1/4th the way down then were killed by the rest of the rabbits in matter of seconds after they woke up from sleepga. got any hints on pt's or how to win these?
RE: bcnm
# Feb 15 2004 at 6:56 PM Rating: Default
I got a few hints, first off
Don't try to kill the strongest one first... kill the weak ones, because they hit about 1/2 as hard as the big one, and they are much much easier to kill. So sleepga everything, clean up all the small ones, and than kill the big one, otherwise you try to kill the big one and have all these little ones nabbing at you, slowly killing you while yet you haven't even stopped the damage flow to your party. Kill from weakest to strongest

Take a Red Mage and Bard with you. The RDM will have Refresh to keep the mages with constant mp, and the Bard will have Horde Lullaby to keep the minions napping while you hammer away at the main guy. What you were doing sounds good, just should have had the BLM keep casting sleepaga as soon as he can to keep the bunnies sleeping.
RE: bcnm
# Feb 07 2004 at 1:09 PM Rating: Default
Red mage won't have refresh. It is level 41. The cap is 40.
RE: bcnm
# Jan 12 2005 at 2:49 PM Rating: Decent
But the bard, if he's any good, will have mage's ballad, which is a mini-refresh. BRD is better than a rdm at this level as far as buffing.

i tried this and use Moon Orb at 32 level thought that if i got a one in 3 chance why not

got there there where NO BOX just 6 angery orcs that kill everyone

You need to use a Comet Orb for the boxes, NOT a Moon Orb. That's why you got the orcs
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 04 2004 at 2:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yea i just tried this...There was no choice of boxes , i tried with both Comet Orb and Moon Orb, basically i was thrown into a battlefield...what did i do wrong?
EXP loss
# Jan 01 2004 at 11:15 PM Rating: Default
Since you get a one in 3 chance of not fighting why not take the orb as a lvl 1 then it dont matter if you die??
RE: EXP loss
# Jan 02 2004 at 12:07 AM Rating: Default
because youd never make it to the burning circles!
RE: EXP loss
# Jan 02 2004 at 7:06 PM Rating: Decent
So a 2man team would suffice.

Take a caster friend who can wipe the zone clear for you or Sneak / Inviso you.

Easily walk right up to it, try your luck...rinse / repeat...

Now all u have to do is find a Beastman's Seal Gaining Exploit
