They do work yes, although it's not like each hit has dispel on it. It's really the same as a weapon like say Death Scythe, that has the additional effect of drain hp, it procs every now and then, so sometimes a lot, others far and few between. They're something that definately comes in handy for HNM's and the like to be sure.
