The icon in game does say "increased resistance to silence," but I still think Puppet's Operetta is resistance to Charm. There are a few higher level mobs that can charm players and have them do their bidding. I don't think Puppet's Operetta is a stronger version of Scop's Operetta. For one, a charmed being would be considered a puppet because they have no control over their actions. This is just common sense. And, for two, there are no stronger versions of Gold Cappricio, Goblin's Gavotte, Foul Aubade, Herb Pastoral, Chocobo Hum or Shining Fantasia. If they made a stronger version for Scop's Operetta, they would've made it for the rest of the lower level resistance songs. A couple of other well-respected FFXI sites say that it is charm resist. I don't trust those icons anyway. Stupid icon descriptions, demanding respect. Peh!

You have to also realize, a silenced bard is a useless bard, and that's why they would make a stronger version of silence resistance.

I just cast it on myself. The icon indicated it was "Increased resistance against silence."

I can confirm, this does increase silence resistance, I just used the scroll. It says on the icon and in the game menu, increases resistance to silence.

And like other posters said, think about it:
Scop's opperetta - 19
Puppet's opperetta - 69

All of the songs that have a higher version come at the same single digit number, such as minuet being level 3, 23, 43, and 63. This is the same thing.

I suspect, from the title of this song ("puppet") and the fact that nothing else does it, that this actually increases resistance to the Charm/Charmga used by some BST-type mobs (one of the Crystal Warriors, Fomar BSTs, and some Dynamis mobs).

Bard songs have "families". WHen name is duplicated it does the same thing. Pairs like Blade & Sword Madrigal do the same thing just to a higher degree.
This is just specualtion since I'm not there yet, but this would be the equivalent of Operetta 2.

Every other website has this listed as resistance to Charm. I highly suspect it is resistance to charm, as a higher level song that resists silence does not seem plausable. Barsilence + Barwind + Scop's Operetta is quite enough resist silence.

This is a BRD's self-defense song. Once we realize that 85%+ of our songs are BS, we tend to get a little pissed off. Now, if you're in the mood to stay mad for a while, and don't want some jerk comin' along to calm you down, this is the song to use!
. . . SO RAWR!? ('''( (',,,') )''')

I think they meant "petrify" spells when they said "calm" spells. Valeriano sells this and that's what it says in the description.

Well, to my understanding, Scop's Operetta (L19) gives resistance to silence... perhaps this is a h;igher-lvl version of it.
