So its like an emergency song you sing when it looks like people are about to die. Thats pretty cool.
Soul Voice

A 75 BRD friend has told me that Soul Voice + Hymnus = reraise IIIga
rr 1.5
# Aug 19 2005 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
as for as i have found out from some brds that are on my friend list this is a reraise of 1.5. and i did my first dynmamis the other day and first thing the pt asked was do i have this song because the other brd in our ls has it. this song has saved my ls before and would have saved them probably if i would have had it because some how we got a nasty link at the end of dynamis jeuno in maat's room and whole allaince got wiped. if i would have had this song the mages would have had 6 less people to raise and also 6 less people to wait for weakness to go away so we could have finished it. as for how good this is in sky i'm not sure since i'm still on z5 and 5 lvls below ls requirements

So some people say it sucks because its equilivant to raise 1? Well I'll have to agree on that, but there is bound to be situations where it is appropriate. Like a certain death siuation where the whm is dead without re-raise (heaven forbid) and the party has just recieved many Incredibly tough links and is for sure dead. Quickly scoot this song on, and your party can raise themselves when it is safe.

Interestingly enough, none of the many posters have actually tested the song out.

And what do you know, i actually have an angel lyre. so instead of My cousin's best friend's sister's aunt said it does 'blah blah blah'

@ lv 75 1,200 xp loss for Hymnus death.

@ lv 75 1,000 xp loss for Hymnus+2 death.

Thank you posters for confusing the HELL out of me before i actually had this myself.

I hope the actual numbers are helpful to people.

Since you've actually tested it, I have a question for you or anyone who's cast it:

Is it a song icon (i.e. it lasts about 3 min and can be overwritten by other songs) or is it a reraise icon (lasting around an hour, not overwritten)?

I'm not anywhere close to being able to cast this but i'm very very curious... <<Mithra

Going to have to start bugging high lvl bards soon to find out O.o Save me the embarrassment of random /tells!

It's a song icon, and can be overwritten by other songs.

only 3 ppl have bought the +2 Harp for this song on my server. I managed to get an answer from one of them:

The +2 version does NOT make the song more powerful (like a raise 3), jsut increases duration.
again i say this song sucks.
# Jan 15 2005 at 11:06 PM Rating: Decent
I still say this song sucks. If i cast this in a exp party my party would cry what are you thinking.
First off whm should have Reraise 3 and if you die that much then I cannot even imagine the exp you would lose and that alone would make me cringe at the hours of killing the same mob over and over and over thus killing all fun I was hoping to have at higher level.
So why a simple reraise when anybody subing whm can cast reraise.
Yet another useless song in a part.

ever done "Divine Might"

ever fought in Dynamis?

ever killed Kirin, King B. or Vitra?

when you have party members dropping like files doing something where you can't help but have lots of ppl die (it's jsut plain part of the fight) this song shows it's value in spades.

I did my 1st Dynamis last night and wished like crazy that I had made 71 before the experience. Having Hymnus in Dynamis would probably have meant a victory for us versus a close loss (LS's 2nd run through Dynamis... ever)

In HNM, Sky, Dynamis situations this song is a must.

Yeah, I can safely say... in any normal situation that might meet in everyday FFXI playing... this song is completely worthless.

I wonder, does it give a song effect or reraise effect proper? (can you have hymnus and two other songs or is hymnus pasted over?)
If it's straight reraise you could make some parties in Valkurm pretty happy. lol.

1000 gil! Reraise for 5 of your party! =P

Actually awhile back while levelling behind one of the moongates in Ro'Mauve, our BRD lost sneak going through the gate and didn't have time to recast it. She pulled an aggro, and since we had no WHM, and she had the harp, she cast Hymnus on herself while the mob hacked her down while we made sure our sneaks were up. So she lost less exp than a Raise I would've resulted in, she saved the RDM his MP, and saved us all a lot of time worrying about re-aggroing while trying to get her raised.

In a party where there's no WHM and no significant possibility of getting a raise III from another party, I can see this song being valuable. No MP cost, casts quickly, and certainly isn't any *worse* than Raise I. It's also nice for when you're out soloing as a BRD, cause you can cast it if you know you're about to die. Songs can't be interrupted by being hit, as most of you BRDs will recall.

I just want to make sure it doesn't give you a song icon effect, cause it would indeed be 99% useless if you couldn't cast two songs on top of Hymnus.

+2 Harp
# Sep 29 2004 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
With the +2 harp it does not grant the effect of Reraise 3, but rather makes the time you are in the sickness mode very short, about 1 min or less
O the posibilities

this......this sounds like a last minute ditch effort song......

vizualize.......
AHHH!!!!!! ITS GONNA KILL US ALL!!!!!!!!
but wait!! the bard saves everyone from having to start that nasty Big NM quest all over again!!!!YAY FOR THE BARD!!!!

but this would be really handy for soloing......think of the posibilities......

Using the ultimate relic instrument Gjallarhorn (+2 to all songs making all other instruments unnecessary) or the new instrument added with the Alliance BCNMs Angel Lyre (+2 Hymnus), this song should act as a party-wide Reraise 3.

Re-raise I or III?

Is it only re-raise or re-raise 3? I mean by that level you wouldn't want to lose all that extra exp merely because a brd can cast group re-raise over a whm using raise 3.

This song is the ONLY way to beat some god and HNMs

imagine this: a HNM that constantly uses a HUGE AoE spell that does enough damage to instantly drop even a lvl 75 galka monk.

1 hit - the entire Alliance is dropped... but wait... each party had a bard singing this song. everyone reraises at the same time and starts slashing with 300 HP. The HNM does the AOE again - everyone's dead again... but wait... the bards had time to sing this song again. Everyone gets up again and widdles a few more points off the HNM before dying again.

This is a reality with a couple of the god and HNMs and the ONLY way they can be defeated. - the items they drop are, not suprisingly, worth 50 mil + (if they are ever sold at all- rare/ex) since there is such a large loss of EXP for everyone involved.

So yea... not a useless song by a long shot.

I am seriously questioning what on earth your parties are doing if you think that using Goddess Hymnus is crucial for... anything at all in sky.

I hear it's like Reraise I 1/2, so it's stronger than Reraise I, but weaker than Reraise II. I guess you use this if the Whm is sorta dying, without reraise?

Meh, at this point, this song doesn't quite have its use, unless you're stuck soloing. Which I don't think you should...? o_O
