/ma NAME_OF_THE_CREATURE <me> - To Summon
/ja SPELLNAME <t> - to Fire a spell from the Summon
/ja SPELLNAME <me> - For e.g. selfhealing with carbuncle

All macros go the same.
/ma for magic /ja for everything else.
Always take a look, at WHAT you have to fire the thing.
If it's xxxxRA spell, you have to fire it on <me>, cuz if you would activate it normally you would point it on yourself.
If it's an agrassive one, you almost always have to do <t> which means that you fire that one on the (T)arget that is marked.

If you always have the same group you can even do the macros for named ppl.
Like your pal is named "honkydonky" you would do a /ma heal honkydonky.
If your spell has spaces in it's name like "Heal III" you have to write it down in ". So it would be /ma "heal III" honkydonky.

pretty easy :)
Just /ma or /ja and the name that is written in the menu + arrivalpoint.

Spirit Spells

Spirits get all the spells of their element at the lowest levels that any job gets the spells. For instance, Stone is a level 1 BLM spell, a level 4 RDM spell, and a level 5 DRK spell. Earth spirit gets the spell at level 1.

Dia is a WHM 3 spell and a level 1 RDM spell, so Light Spirit gets Dia at level 1.

The amount of time a spirit waits before casting a spell is based on your summoning skill level. The higher your summoning skill level, the less time spirits will wait between casting spells. This means that at low levels, Spirits are very inefficient- it's not until high levels that they become effective, casting spells in rapid succession.

Ive found out that spirits' spells arent random at all, but they acctually have a nice system to get them to cast their spells every time you want them to. Thing is, it takes a wait time for you to get them to cast the spells so you cant get them to use them in an emergency summon on most occasions(so dont count on those for emergencys). All the info im posting here was posted on the Summoner Job Forum and i cant remember the guys name so sorry about not giving him credit XD, anyways every spirit gets a spell before level 20 and that I know but the higher the level the better the spell(obviously)so its best to use these at higher levels. Basically the way to make them cast is to wait about 35 seconds for them to "charge" then attack the mob NOT ASSAULT because assault only makes them use BLM type spells and making them auto attack makes them use both BLM type and Enhancing spells. This has all been tested by the origanal poster(whos name i still cant remember :[ ) and myself up to level 20 so it does in fact work as long as you wait 35 seconds or more. So please use this to make your spirits cast instead of just waiting untill they cast it while being wailed on by a monster.

I'm a level 5 SMN and my EarthSpirit still hasn't casted stone. Do I need to sub BLM to make spirits cast spells?

Do you have to reach a certain level before the spirits can cast their elements? Maybe it's something like this: Let say you have earth spirit and stonaga or something is a level 30 or something magic and your summoner reaches level 30 and will earth spirit learn the ability to cast stonaga? Or maybe it's something like this: You just need to reach like level 20 before all spirits learn magic attacks.So anyone know?

I haven't been able to find much information, but I've been playing with my Spirits since I heard they would start casting spells in battle. Here's my findings so far:

Spirits will cast spells, on their own free will. (Whenever they feel like it I guess.) Although I have found Spirits have a connection with BLMs.

Say you're level 3 SMN and you cast out Earth Spirit during battle. Sometime during that battle, if your Spirit feels like it, it has a chance of casting Stone. Stone is a level 1 BLM spell. It won't cast anything else because it won't know anything. It learns spells the same time a BLM does.

Now let's say I summon out an Ice Spirit in mid battle. Let's say for example purposes that I'm a level 17 SMN. It has a possibility of casting different things. It could cast Bind (which mine often does) or even Blizzard (BLMs learn this at level 17).

Spirits have possibility, if they meet level requirements, to cast enfeebs and all, just like wild elementals. As long as the spell type meets their element, they have possibility of casting it.

My question lies in do these spirits get smarter over time? And also is it WHM that determines what spells the Light and all learn?

I believe I heard Dark Spirit goes on DRK spells. But things like Paralyze (WHM and RDM) are learned by Ice (because it's an ice based spell), so would at level 04 you learn it because WHM does then, or at level 06 because RDM does then. I'm going to assume it is based off WHM, but not sure.

As far as I have been able to determine.. the spells casted by the summons are based on your level and are obtained at the level either whm or blm get the spell. ie, wind casts aero at level 9.

i think spirits are mainly used as a lifesaver, if something aggros you while you're resting or whatever, these have such a short casttime when compared with other avatars that you have time to cast it without being interrupted by the mob, you can then sick it on him and run like a bat out of hell

The Earth Spirit Pact does NOT allow you to summon Titan - it allows you to summon EarthSpirit (an earth elemental).

The elementals that you can summon will sometimes cast the same spells that the regular elementals do. (Although I haven't yet seen an AirSpirit cast Aeroga, as that could be very, very bad for the party ;)

if it casted aeorga the hate from any mobs it attacked would be only on the spirit.. you could release it and have no hate on you or your party..

unless they are agro in nature... then yes.. it would be very bad for your pt.

do the various Spirits, like the Earth spirit, lighting spirit and others ever actualy Cast the elemental spells of their type? like does a earth spirit ever cast stone, or a air ever cast aero?. or are they just a throwaway pet that eats up 2x more mana per second than a summoned Avatar and only have 1/5th the hp?
