i am glad to see so many of you have such funny stories. this really did turn into quite the funny post!

my wife apparently just leveled cause she does this new thing..

/ja Guilt

it's a very long range ability. she doesn't even have to be in the same room, or on the same floor as me for that matter.

and when i hear the door open when she comes home from work or whatever, she must use a Scroll of Instant Guilt, and i feel it come over me in waves...

You must complete a BCNM battle - Jewelry Store
Equip credit card in your main slot
Cast haste on yourself
Duke it out with the monster called "Cashier"
The drop is guaranteed which is good, but it is a race/gender specific item, and is only popular in a small group of people.
Will sell well on the AH if you find you do not need it anymore

LMAO XD

Funniest thread ever

I've been pretty fortunate in that I haven't suffered much GF aggro. She knows my love for this game and doesn't give me a hard time about it. I've tried to get her interested but so far I haven't had much luck.

One tactic she loves to use is SA+JA "Phone Call": "Hey baby, I've got some dinner prepared and then I thought I'd see if you wanted to go <insert idea here> but it's okay if you're too busy *sniff*" This attack has an Additional Effect: Guilt which is almost impossible to overcome. :(

I had a 3 year relationship go to hell because I lost interest in a game that my gf and I used to play and it really was the only thing we had in common. Two months later I bought this game.

I've been happily single and anti-social ever since ^^

Dont have a girlfriend, working on it though. Only problem is i cant pull one in the first place by sight or sound aggro, so i end up having to use /ra Pebble <t>, and that just makes the guys at security link on me :P

I hear ya on the fact that it doesn't even get in one ear. Sometimes I will be playing and get all involved in the game and my gf will come up to me and start talking. I wont even notice that she is there and when I decide it is time to go to bed, the bedroom door will be locked.

Oh well, guess that means that I need to keep playing ffxi.

2) Explain to them game dynamics.

This is the most important part! Playing on a SHARED computer, yes that's right, the family PC, often involves a tedious explanation of why I can't just "hit pause" and minimize it so you can print up a school paper. Don't you know to back it up on disk anyway!? My sister flustered me to the point of shouting "There is no pause! See those white and blue names? Those are REAL people! If I leave they'll have to wait for me!"

(Of course I 'forgot' to mention that we WAR/nothings are dimes for dozens at Lv.17 and I'd be replaced before I even logged out^^)

My bf and I play together so no worries there. I get more friends and family aggro, though, like... "why don't you ever hang out with us?? Its that stupid game you're obsessed with"

...and when I explain to them I just want to get to level 40 before the end of the week... they just don't seem to take this as a valid excuse. =P

Incoming!! Incredibly Tough Girlfriend TP 15%. Thats what I get when I hear her footsteps creeping around teh corner. Usually to go do something for her she could easily do herself. And almost always after Ive joined a great party or in transit in Castle Bailey Keep or something. Damn!

You guys got the GF/Wife 2 hour all wrong... Or maybe I have the advanced job GF.

While I'm playing, and her normal attacks just get rebutted and evaded, she'll bust out the 2 hour.

Needless to say, I can't mention what that is exactly on the forums here, but after the first 5 seconds, I have absolutely no control over anything, and she wins. I can't evade it. No parrying. She wins...period.

Not that its entirely bad, but sometimes it just happens at the worst of times.

Anyone else have this problem in particular?

Well my husband used to have wife aggro, but somehow figured out a way to get me to play the game. :O

Along with me came his mother, sister, my brother, and a friend from work :O

Guess he lucked out, lol because not only do we both play, he has bought me my very own ps2 and wireless kb and controller :D

My wife is actually real good about letting me play (after she falls asleep).

Seriously though, she doesn't let it show that it bugs her but lately she is using a very sneaky tactic: sending out the boy (10 months) to sneak up on daddy and start mashing buttons on my keyboard.

It's really cute and all but you can't just yank the keyboard back with out getting guilted by /ja "Cry", I finally buckeled and use my PS2 keyboard as a decoy.

I think the advanced job GF/Wife has several 2 hr abilites. That's why they're so dangerous. O.o

For instance, mine has one called "Sexy Lingerie". She uses that on me and it's all over.

IMO, the order or priority is:
Girlfriend > FFXI > All Other Crap
I guess I'm just not as in love with the game as you guys are.

Great topic !

I have a few tricks up my sleeve for avoiding GF aggro...

1) TiVO - she gets to watch all the crappy TV shows that I hate whenever she wants. Fine by me ><

2) /item "Phone" <GF> - Honestly, she can talk to her grandmother for longer periods of time than I can play.
"Damn honey, are you STILL on the phone?!?!?!?"

3) /item "Alcohol" <GF> - "OOOooOOooOOoo <I'm Sleepy>" /doze

The really crappy thing though, she really wants to play the game WITH me (she rocks at video games, I've converted her to Madden games and Battlefeld 1942/Desert Combat), we just can't afford a second account at the moment {le sigh}

Man I laughed so hard reading this thread seven months ago, I just can't help but to bring it back to life.

I've married my GF so now I have wife agroe, meh GF to wife is like the mob gettin a sub job >.>

Here I'll tell you guys a new way I get aggro,
I'll get up real early weekends to get some game time in while she sleeps in.
Oh man when she wakes up with that wild hair and walks in the living room and aggro's me it's like being in Labrinth of Onzozo
with a Manticore staring at me o.>

My *cough*29th*cough* birthday was last week and I told him all I want is a few hours undisturbed and unnagged on the computer. About 6 hours later the nagging began to get off my butt and finish wallpapering the kitchen. /sigh And I just got into a kick butt party.

I did the same thing about 2 weeks ago. My birthday was on the 27th and the 25th was a Saturday. My LS had our 1 year anniversary celebration scheduled for Saturday. I told my girlfriend that I want to play all day and then go out to celebrate. Suprising enough she said, "ok" and went to visit her mom. I got a good 7 hours in that day Smiley: smile

I usually play when she is not home, so that I can deligate time between her and the game Smiley: lol she always comes first though Smiley: sly.

My fiance plays also, we have moments where we steal hate from each other (I'm playing when he wants attention and viceversa)
but for the most part, we're high lvl enough that the only aggro we catch anymore is from the dreaded Rylie... this mob is extremly adorable and aggros to sight and sound.
her two hour is deadly, and consists of a big toothless smile and outstretched arms.

7 months old... she's a killer.

I'm still single, but my friends aggro me all the time. I try to sneak past and then I hear a grunt and they run after me to tackle me before I hit the computer. It sucks ; ;.

My problem is when my wife starts talking in the middle of a fight and/or linkshell conversation, I nod along and listen as best as I can, which equates to not listening at all. She gets mad sometimes but I tell her she has "Bad Timing". Oh well, I need to learn to focus my attention away from the screen ; ;

I totally understand. I apparently agreed to go to the store to get a couple of items, and I dont even remember having the conversation...
