I would post pictures, but I had a non-digital camera, and i'm lazy and don't wanna scan them all in lol =P

I claim this page in the name of PIE!

S'aright, Sarlos. We understand. I'm glad you go the claim and took it down. That's pretty cool. I'm sure it was a nice surprise to get home to.

I wrote a quick script to upload files in the background while I am doing work. Shhh! Smiley: lol Anyway, here is a link to my xs.to Photo Album. All the images with the "IMG_###.JPG" name came from Purril's camera. I will try to modify the filenames to reflect the author so proper credit goes where it is due.

Edit: Yes, there are duplicate photos. These are from my earlier updates, so ignore them please. Smiley: grin

Ok, so there were several different battles for the Heroes Combat event: vs. Volker alone, vs. Trion alone, vs. Ajido alone, vs. Volker & Ajido, vs. Trion & Ajido, vs. Volker & Trion, then vs. all 3. Is that correct?

Does anyone remember what Jobs those NPCs had on the final nation missions? I don't know what Job Volker had in the final Bastok mission, nor Trion in the final San d'orian mission. I thought Ajido was a RDM since he used Chainspell, though he also used Ancient Magic (maybe he has a higher level or some sort of exception which makes him a dual RDM-BLM). What 2-Hour did Ajido use in this special BCNM?

ZM8... so, all of these special NPC battles took place in the Chamber of Oracles?

Anyone else want to chime in with their experiences? (I'd like to add this to the FFXI wiki).

I reposted my entire photo, videos, and Sarlos's event recap on KI if you can't view it from my ls site.

http://ffxi.killvoid.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=110909

KI tends to load a bit slow but it's the only other high traffic FFXI site that I can load clickable thumbnails on.

I just want to say a big thank you again to everyone who has posted reports and pictures and all. Here is hoping there is another fanfest next year, i'm going to start saving money right now so I KNOW i'll be able to go no matter where it is.

Edit: Well that get a decent digital camera since mine sucks *** (see 4 years old, scratched lens, out of focus with no way to change focus...) so even if I could have gone this year I wouldn't be able to take any pictures really. What fun is it to go a big event and not be able to take any pics?

A link to some pics my husband and I took, had two '24 count' throw away cameras and only a handful of pics came out because it was so dark in there (not to mention throw away cameras suck. )If you couldnt guess, I'm Candi, and no I wasnt a real FFXI charactor and yes I was aware of that :) but I had fun cosplaying for the first time. Next time I'll be something actual, maybe...

And not to open an old wound, but Mithra-girl with fiance Yagudo, you guys both looked great and kudos to the Drg, but i also think your fiance was by far the most imaginative and life like. When I first saw him i was like 'Whoa!' and even later on when it started to darken (because of the rain clouds outside I suppose) he scared the crap outta me! lol Really life like. And I'm not gay or nothing, but you are cute, some people just dont know when to keep comments to themselves and might I say, what a true cosmic burn you came up with.
See you next time I hope ^,~

Team Minute Maid Photo

Sarlos is the back left in the black shirt.
My husband is center back, looking like the propellor is coming out of his head. (with the goatee)
Cadell is to my husband's right.
Zalora is the center of the 2nd row from the front. (black hat, black coat over white shirt.)
I am the floating head in the very front.
The guy in the pink to my left won the computer in the raffle with his father's ticket.

FFXI Fan Festival site updated... kinda:

Quote:
Fan Festival A Huge Success!
Over 1000 Attendees showed up to have fun on the Santa Monica Pier!

Marking this largest FINAL FANTASY XI event ever, Fan Festival 2006 had an amazing weekend! The pier under our feet rumbled with each new announcement the development team made on Friday and Saturday. We had a great time running Live Quest and it looks like everyone enjoyed the comradery and adventure. We had some fantastic art, costume and movie entries and our finalists were cheered on stage. The winners were rewarded with valuable prizes from our many sponsors. Thanks to Alienware, Bradygames®, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.™, Intel®, Logitech®, Coolermaster®, NVIDIA, Dolby®, VG Cats and Penny Arcade for providing prizes and giveaways. Thanks also to Microsoft for providing Xbox® 360s where our attendees challenged the three heroes of Vana'diel; Prince Trion of San d'Oria, Minister Ajido-Marujido of Windurst, and Captain Volker of Bastok, in battle. Our Treasures of Aht Urhgan tour included a first look at Besieged, a new form of combat that takes place in town! Our development panel explained more about this new fun aspect of the upcoming expansion. They also talked about a lot of exciting new additions and changes to the world of Vana'diel as well as what people can expect from questing in the Aht Urhgan Empire.

So thank you everyone who attended, we're glad you had such a fun time and we hope to do this again soon. In the meantime, keep checking this website for updates on how to receive your moogle rod and other prizes as well as a full wrap up on all the events activities! We will begin to send all in-game items soon.

Hurry up already! >.>

Somebody was asking about the bcnm, so I guess I'll try to answer. It was my favorite event, by far.

There were 3 choices, when we traded our "Cordial Invite" to the bc. Lvl 1, lvl 2, lvl 3.

Level 1 was any one of the heroes, at random.
Level 2 was any 2.
And level 3 was all 3 at once.
We were not allowed to pick which 1 or 2 we fought, in the lower lvl battles.

Trion was pld, Volker was war, and Ajido was blm, and they all used the 2hr appropriate to their job.

On another note, while huge props go out to all the teams that were able to beat the lvl 3, one man gets props above all others. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the guy's name, but there was one person who (get this) soloed the lvl 1! We were talking to the volunteers, after my team beat the 3, and they told us about him. Played mnk, and took Ajido down solo. What a feat!

Thanks! You were cute too! ^^ I liked your dress. :)
As I type we're trying to figure out what to do with the speaker set he won. We can't really do anything with them, he has an ear condition where he can't be near really loud music/sound for a long period of time. So, yeah. We can't return them to logitech or anything seeing as we don't have proof of purchase. They are with $400! Anyone wanna buy em? :P

I'm thinking about checking ebay just to see what kind of other fan fest is trying to sold on there... I sure wouldn't pay the prices people are probably asking though... heck, if I could I woulda gone to the fan fest myself. I actually live about 7 hours away from where they held it (car ride, plane would be an hour) so it isn't thathard for me to get down really.

Yep, we most likely will be ebaying it. Along with my VGcats Comic that is signed, and the Penny Arcade shirt. It's cool stuff, but I am not really into it, and the t-shirt is too big for me. No point in keeping those items sitting around the house, if there is someone else who would enjoy it more, right? :)

Oh, did any of you bid on any of the flags they were silent auctioning at the Festival? The last bid I saw on the Lion cutouts were up to 1k! O_O;;

#472 Mar 14 2006 at 9:23 PM Rating: Default

Yeah, for the windurst flag it was up to $300 I last saw. But I am sure the Lion ones went higher than 1k. My friend bid on the Caisith one, but someone may have outbid him. Someone was bidding on all of them, most likely to sell on ebay or something like that.

Actually, our friend checked the Lion cut-outs before we left and saw bids as high as $2,500. Yes, for a piece of cardboard that looks like Lion.

Either to sell on ebay or just has way too much money on his/her hands >_>

300 for the nation flag wouldn't be that bad, considering it is probably pretty rare. Still a lot though. Would be cool to have a flag from your server, you'd probably be like the only one on the server who had one hehe.

I tell you what, I'd take a pic of the flag, take it to a seamstress and spend the other $200-250 on something else. Unless they were signed by the dev team and the star onions i dont see anything being sold there worth that much.
