I think I am going to play it, and it's sparked my interest more than BLU and COR. I don't know why... It just looks unique and fresh. I don't know why I'm not totally psyched about BLU. Maybe it's because, unlike other FFs, it's going to require some kind of odd system to incorporate in FFXI without breaking the game (and we've all seen those millions of threads with BLU theories). COR looks odd to me. Never was really into Gambler. But it looks nice and fresh, too. Should be fun to pt with CORs. Hopefully, all three work out well and bring something good to the table of FFXI jobs.

I have my doubts, of course, and we don't know exactly how they will work (like how you acquire different puppets for Puppetmaster), but if it's all well and good I'll try it out. I wonder what stats will be important for Puppetmaster, and what it can/will do in parties...

We all know Valkrum will be 80% Blue Mages, 10% of Warrior/White Mages, 5% Red Mage/Warrior, and 5% of people who think a party cannot survive without 5 White Mages in the party.

If this is just BST without charm, then I probably wont play it. If it's able to charm beastmen and undead, then i'd play it nonstop until 75 :P

So far this just shouts "Beastmaster without charm"

I think it's likely that the Puppet will have some measure of survivability to make them a viable tank. I mean, ToAU already has a DD(Blu) and a support(Cor)...I don't think they're silly enough to unbalance things by making -another- DD.

I am pretty sure BLU will be an enfeebler/debuffer. RDM’s will get a new job. What ever RDM’s new spells are, that will define their job. My guess.

Yep. /sigh
And I'll be there with them trying to make a party that can function, while explaining that 6 BLU a party does not make.

Now 5 WHM and a BLU... XD

I havn't read every post here so this might have been mentioned. While I think there might be differny puppets that you cna use for different abillities/moves I am thinking that the style of play and type of puppet you have will be based on your sub job. sort of like they did with dragoon but on a much larger scale.

Very valid point, I think the devs know the game needs more versatility (in terms of jopb selection) and if this is the case, the Puppestmaster could serve many roles.

According to Square's PR guy, you'll have the puppet and also be able to "manipulate" the monsters in some way different from the way Beastmasters do it. This could mean anything from getting them to hold off on TP usage to shifting hate around to confusing them.

Different puppets seems possible. According to the same guy, some of the enemies currently use Cardians as their puppets, but he didn't know if this would extend to the Puppetmaster's abilities.

A decoy/pet-based tank seems possible. Throw in some reverse SATA-like abilities that let you transfer hate to your puppet and some indirect healing abilities (i.e. Spirit Link) and you're set.

What I'd really like to see is for the puppet to mimic emotes, too. Having a little Heartless-looking guy that follows Tarus around /panicking would be awesome.

I want to play puppetmaster. I want to see a three party alliance of

Puppetmaster + Puppet + NPC, Summoner + Avatar + NPC, BST + Pet + NPC,

x 3

that would be fun. 9 players + 18 non player characters = excitement

I think Puppets should be the opposite of Avatars where if there is a cost to animating them they should be linked to a player's HP not mp. We will see though.

hmm, only way to make it even better would be to go do Garrison with that setup....

I'll definitely give it a try, though at first glance it really does seem unoriginal. Just another pet class.. but who knows! will have to wait for details on abilities

I'd play BLU for the AF. I really like the frilly, extravagantly garish and dramatic armor for Aht Urghan :3 All BLU AF + Vir subligar ftw :)

well i just spoke with my freind who's at the FF atm. he said for PuppetMaster, the Puppet will mimic whatever the PMT is doing...example: atk, med and so fort...not sure if it will do WS too.. tho SE didn't get into much details cuz they didn't want to spoil for everyone. but we'll see i guess.

Hmm, this could be true. I remember watching one of the ToAU videos last night, and there was a taru Puppetmaster in it. The taru sat down and the puppet sat down right next to him. At first I thought it was cute "oh look its mimicking him!" and now that I think about it, perhaps the taru and the puppet were sitting down to /heal.

This will prolly be the only job I unlock in the new expasion, Its just so wierd and random I have to try it =P, Though I hope they don't make having a puppet cost mp like an Avatar ~.~ but I do hope there are diffrent kinds of puppets XD (As the 1 in the pic just looks fruity...><)

Corsair and Puppetmaster both interest me, but Blue Mage still does nothing for me. Don't know why, it just doesn't interest me at all. But I'll definitely give Corsair and Puppetmaster a try. I actually find Corsair to be very very interesting.
