This is actually kinda cool. Like the monster hunter side quest from FFXII. Many of these nms are hardly camped anymore so this is probably just there way of giving them a use without it being an item drop.


Also, don't rememeber the item but Haubergeon for Blue Mage! 5str 5dex 10 attack 10 accuracy! That is pretty boss.

Blaaah I did read that wrong about the Ixion's cloak... some reason I was thinking that was a cape.

They need to add more Refresh items than just body pieces...

I love the idea of this quest. Hunting NMs for sport- not items- sounds incredibly refreshing. The only one that sounds particularly troublesome is Ixtab, and that just means you're forced to party up with some friends or fellow hunters. Considering how unwanted most of the drop items are, there won't be much animosity if someone gets a dropped item and someone else doesn't. It's all just for the thrill of the hunt, and no competition involved!

IIRC, "enhances {Job Trait}" gives that job trait to whatever % it would enhance it normally. The only exception I'm aware of is the Suppanomimi. So I believe if it like enhances Zanshin by 1%, then even a MNK would have a 1% Zanshin chance. I forget though unfortunately.

TY I been going through the post and I can't believe no one until now has said anything about those 3 (clubs?) Looks like a MAB club, a Mag Acc+ club, and 1 that is a little of both. Those new mage shields are looking ok with these!!! Oh and can you see all the MAGE/nin now. Imagine a blm/nin with the MAB+25 main hand and the MAB+10/MAcc+10 off hand.

the 100k ampule balrahn's eyepatch most likely is used for upgrading the new relics. Reason being is that 100k ampoules is alot and would take a long time to obtain, and number 2, when the info on the new relic weapons was released, the entire article was pertaining to Balrahn and how they were his "Myriad arms".

Also, a small but relevant detail:

One of the quests for the relics enumerates the stuff you need as such

Then the description of Balrahn's Eyepatch says

It is regarded as a sacred relic throughout the empire of Aht Uhrgan.


My guess is they're the same relic.

I didn't see it posted here yet, but it looks like you must be on a Lv.75 job to get offered this quest. I was on my NIN (Lv.73) and the NPC said I was "too green for his liking" and asked if I had any stronger friends.

Changed to PUP and talked to him again, and got the quest.
